Chapter 37

As soon as I arrived, he got out of the car with a cold face and came to me.
This man is really strange. He asked me to come over, but when I met him, he threw his face at me to see what it meant.
As he approached, I took his arm and walked with him to the hotel banquet hall.
Cheney let Gia go free. I accompany the entertainment.
At this time, there were many people in the banquet hall, and I also saw my mother holding Brent not far away.
Brent’s face, with injuries and bruises on his forehead, looks like he has been beaten, and he can’t say he is not embarrassed.
Behind them, there is Zaniyah, who is somewhat quiet.
I was just wondering if I should avoid these three people on this occasion when Brent came along with them.
Brent stepped forward and said, “Krista, how’s it going recently? You didn’t come home during this time, and your mother was worried about the last time you were sick.”
Before I could open my mouth, Cheney’s eyes flashed. “What does Mr. Brent mean by this? Will Krista be wronged when she is in my house?”
I went on to say, “Mr. Brent is thinking too much, and your lover probably isn’t worried about me.”
Zaniyah dumped me with an eye knife. “Dad, why do you want to stick a hot face to someone’s cold ass here? People don’t want to talk to you at all. Can’t you see?”
“Come on, you child, you and Krista are sisters. Why do you have to pick Krista’s reason? As a sister, you should let Krista in more. Krista is angry with your aunt now, isn’t it because your aunt always favors you?”
“Dad, what does this have to do with me?” Zaniyah stamped.
My mother looked at me with wet eyes. “Krista…”
“You don’t have to look at me so embarrassed. I didn’t want you to sacrifice your kindness to Zaniyah to take care of me. I think, in some words, last time in the hospital, we have made it very clear, you or me, we have all formed our own families. You have your happiness, I am living my life, and everyone is safe with each other.”
Then I pulled Cheney’s sleeve. “Let’s go find a seat. I’m a little tired.”
Cheney walked me directly past the three of them and sat down in a seat not far away. A waiter brought me wine.
Cheney took two cups and handed me one of them.
“Want one?”
I thought about it and took the glass.
He took a sip of wine and looked at me. “You seem to be in a bad mood every time you see Brent.”
Cheney’s POV
I want to guide her and tell me the secret hidden in her heart.
In my opinion, her trust in me is no different from that when we first met.
After all, her secret was never shared with me.
She looked at me, half ring, silently turned back to drink a sip of wine, “Really?”
“Yes, and it’s all written on your face.”
She smiled, “I hate that father and daughter, and it doesn’t seem surprising that it will be written on my face.”
My heart is not at ease. It is obvious that she has no intention of saying anything.
“What about me to you?”
She looked at me confused. “What?” She asked.
“I ask you if you hate me too.”
She frowned. “Why are you pulling on yourself?”
“Then why don’t you tell me the truth?”
“What truth?”
I took a deep breath. “Why on earth do you hate Brent so much? Don’t fool me with the previous story, I want to know the real reason.”
“I don’t just hate Brent, I hate Zaniyah, and now even my mother, I don’t know how to love.”
I glanced at her. “Aren’t you going to break away from your mother?”
She also looked a little cold. “What did you overhear?”
I didn’t expect her to react so quickly. I raised my eyebrows. “What do you think?”
She shook her fist and her eyes looked like a sharp blade.
“Why can’t you tell me the truth?” I looked at her.
“That old man assaulted you. Why are you keeping that a secret from me?”
“I didn’t keep a secret for anyone, it was for me.” she said coolly.
“My mother was very careful with the Brennan family at that time. I didn’t tell, I just didn’t want to embarrass her. And when I told her, she didn’t believe me.”
“But now, you know, your mother won’t change for you. She is still standing beside the old man. Why don’t you reveal his ugly behavior in public?”
She looked at me and said word by word, “I have my plans. I hope you will leave this matter alone.”
The atmosphere suddenly solidified, and neither she nor I continued to speak.
Just then, Rashad came from the opposite side. He bypassed the table and came behind me. “Yo, uncle and aunt, are you quarreling? It seems that I came at a very bad time.”
I tilted at him coldly. “Roll aside and don’t interfere with my eyes.”
“I don’t want to come either, but I can’t help it. Who asked my dad to be invited? He is not feeling well. Let me come to the party instead of him.” He said, sitting beside me. “This is my seat. I can’t get out, but you can choose to keep arguing. I won’t affect you.”
Rashad smiled and snapped his fingers at the waiter not far away.
The waiter came over, and he brought a glass of wine and drank it by himself.
After a while, he thought of something and said to me, “By the way, uncle, did you see that Brent’s face? Ha, like a pig’s head, laughing to death.”
I gave him an oblique look.
He leaned over with a smile and said in a voice that only all three of us could hear. “I just heard from the people over there that Brent was severely beaten with his head covered a few days ago. He had already reported the case, but the next day, he went to sell the case again, saying that he was drunk and accidentally rolled over. He was so drunk that he probably had unsound limbs, hahaha.”
After saying that, his face showed a bad smile.
Krista’s POV
According to Rashad, Brent was beaten.
He must have offended someone and deserved it.
Rashad said, “It’s amazing. Let’s guess, who in City A would let the president of the Brennan group be so scrupulous that even such a serious beating incident can be easily solved?”
My heart thumped, turned my head, and silently looked at Cheney, who looked as if nothing had happened.
He picked up his glass and took a sip of wine calmly. “Rashad, I will give you two choices. First, get out of here at once. Second, I’ll send someone to kick you out.”
“Uncle, I am offering my love instead of my dad today. Is it appropriate for you to kick me out like this?”
“Your father’s heart is black. If you give it to the dog, the dog won’t eat it. Don’t you know? Or do you want me to remind you again, what did your father do?”
As Cheney’s voice fell, Rashad’s face froze. He was silent for a moment, stood up and left without saying a word.
I wondered what Cheney meant. He knew what Wyatt had done, and Rashad was jealous of what his father had done.
No wonder everyone says that the Fischer family is deep and seems to be true.
Cheney looked sideways at me. “What are you staring at him for? What, do you want to go with him?”
“I didn’t say that. I envied him a little.”
“Envy?”
I shrugged. “I don’t like it here. I want to go, too.”
He looked cold. “There are many things for you here.”
I curled my lips and didn’t speak.
I’m not busy, but I’m not used to such an occasion.
After the dinner party began, I sat listlessly in my seat and watched the stars on the stage perform. On this occasion, Echo should attend.
Cheney looked at me and called Gia over. “I’m a little tired. I have to go back first. After you watch the party here, donate the money.”
“But…”
“Nothing is wrong. If the organizer needs anything, just handle it yourself.” After saying that, he stood up and was about to leave.
Before I could react, he raised his eyebrows and asked me, “Don’t you want to leave?”
I sipped my lips and smiled, and stood up like an amnesty. “Let’s go, let’s leave together.”
Leaving the banquet hall, I said, “Is it appropriate for you to go first like this?”
“Isn’t it better than you almost falling asleep here?”
I’m a little guilty. “I won’t fall asleep. I still have a little courtesy.”
“Hmm.” He just snorted and hummed coldly and didn’t speak.
