The news about Schillingburgs takedown had reached Willshire. Everyone was shock with Landford’s decision to invade. While David & Greyson were riding back to where Amelia and Guillaume were hiding, they could see in the distance Landford’s Crest flags flying above Schillingburg. Upon reaching Wynnfrith they overheard some people talking about the bold takeover of Schillingburg by Landford.
“Can you believe that?” David asked.
“I sure can, Thomas has gone mad and he is looking for Amelia, so invading Schillingburg was on his sights a long time ago.” Greyson replied.
“We are going to have to keep track of him so he does not interfere with our attack of Willshire.” David advised.
“Definitely, my Lord.” Greyson replied.
“We have a bit more to go but we are near, Amelia is going to be happy to see you.” David said.
“And I her, she is like my own child. I hope she holds no anger towards me.” Greyson said.
“I do not think so, Amelia is not like that, you are very important to her.” David confirmed.
“We are here, let me go in first, as not to alarm them and you follow,” David stated.
Greyson nodded his head in agreement.
David whistled softly, awaiting Amelia’s response. After a few minutes, he whistled again. He then heard Amelia’s whistle in the distance. He got off his horse and walked in that direction. Amelia met him halfway.
“Are you looking for me?” Amelia whispered.
“Why did you not answer the first time?” David asked worriedly.
“I was not sure it was you.” Amelia replied.
“And who would it be, Amelia?” David asked.
“Could be Thomas, he knew our whistle,” Amelia responded.
“Thomas does not know you are here plus he is busy invading Schillingburg.” David added.
“WHAT? Thomas invaded Schillingburg.
Why?” Amelia asked.
“Looking for you, but enough about that, I have a visitor for you.” David whispered.
“For me? Who?” Amelia asked excitedly.
In the distance a voice answered, “It is me, my Lady.”
Amelia excitedly ran towards the voice.
“Greyson, is that you? Oh my, how I have missed you.” She said as she ran into his arms.
Greyson laughed and twirled her around. “How have you been, my sweet Lady?” Greyson asked.
“The accommodations are not what I am accustomed to but I have been very good and in good company.” Amelia replied.
“Come, come join us in our cozy cave.” She said as she pulled him in.
“Greyson, this is Guillaume, the love of my life.” Amelia introduced.
Guillaume bowed his head.
“This is Greyson, my love, he is practically my third father.” Amelia added.
Greyson laughed, shook Guillaume’s hand and said “We have met.”
“So I hear you are in the process of claiming your kingdom?” Greyson asked.
Amelia smiled.
“Amelia, Greyson is the highest officer in your army.” David inserted.
“Really? That is great! But do I have an army yet?” Amelia asked.
“Oh yes, it is coming along. We have chosen strong knights who have recruited others. Your army will be undefeatable.” David said.
“I would like to be part of this army.” Guillaume added.
“My Lord, you will need to stay behind and protect your Queen.” Greyson answered.
Guillaume laughed and said “I am not a Lord, just a Knight.”
“You are Amelia’s chosen one, to me you are the future king.” Greyson replied.
“I would still like to help” Guillaume replied.
“You are. You are protecting the Queen.” David added.
Guillaume nodded yes.
“So when will you be invading Willshire?” Amelia asked.
“In a day or two, Sir Rodger and Sir John Lloyd are assembling the army as we speak and will be lining them up tactfully,” Greyson answered.
“We just returned to let you know what is happening.” David added.
“The moment everything is secure, we will return for you. But for now, please be vigilant. Thomas is still out there looking for you.” Greyson assured. “We bought you more food and some warm clothes. It shall be good for a few days but by then you might be eating at your kingdom, my Queen” David said.
Amelia laughed.
“Stop being silly, David. Please be very careful. I truly appreciate you doing this for us.” Amelia said.
“You know me, I always aim to please.” David responded.
They hugged. “You will rest here tonight, right?” Amelia asked.
“Of course, for a little while but then we must be off, we cannot waste time especially with Thomas out there.” David replied.
Early that morn, David and Greyson made their way out of the Wynnfrith Forest and towards St. Vangaltier. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched. One of Thomas’s men happen to be traveling and saw them come out of the forest. He quickly made his way back to Landford.
Upon arriving at Landford Castle the soldier demanded to see Thomas.
“I have news for the King.” He said.
“The King has no time for petty nonsense, my man.” Charles inserted.
“It is about Lord David and Greyson.” The man said.
“Let him speak” King Thomas commanded.
“My Liege, as I made my way through Wynnfrith. I saw Lord David and Greyson come out of the dark forest and head towards St. Vangaltier.” The man said.
“Are you sure it was them?” King Thomas asked.
“Definitely, my grace. I have trained with Lord David and Greyson so I know them.” The man assured.
King Thomas got up and walked towards the window.
“Hmmm, I wonder what is hiding in that forest?” King Thomas asked himself.
“Thank you dear sir, give him some gold for his troubles.” King Thomas commanded.
The man bowed and left.
King Thomas turns to Charles.
“Have the stablemen prepare my horse, I would like to take a ride through Wynnfrith Forest this evening, to see what I find.” King Thomas said.
“You cannot go unaccompanied, my liege.” Charles stated.
“I will be fine, Charles. No need to concern yourself.” King Thomas said.
Thomas left the room to go prepare himself for this trip. As he walked to his room he thought of how nice it would be to have Amelia and King Erich jailed together. They were such good friends. But he wanted Sir Guillaume’s head for treason. He laughed at that thought.
David and Greyson arrived at Sir Rodger and Sir John Lloyd’s compound. They were impressed by how large the army had grown and how they had every aspect covered.
“Gentlemen, my goodness, where did you get all these men?” Greyson asked.
“When asked most of these men to join the answer was always yes, especially when told Queen Amelia would be reigning.” John Lloyd answered.
“This is just wonderful!” David added.
“Gather the men, I would like to thank them.” Greyson commanded.
Greyson stood on a large stone, he could see the rows and rows of men lined up.
“Gentlemen, Willshire’s future army. I thank you for your courage, strength and support. Our future Queen Amelia would be so proud to be protected by you all. Myself and Lord David are truly grateful. Let us prepare to take our kingdom back.” Greyson acknowledged.
All the men cheered!
David chose ten men to return with him to the forest. He had a strange feeling and wanted Amelia protected at all cost. As they rode back, David searched the area.
“What are you looking for, my Lord? Can I be of assistance?” Said a young soldier.
“Just making sure the area is secure, our Queen will be staying here for a bit.” David replied.
“Men, this is the area, please be vigilant, do not let anyone approach, I will return with the Queen.” David shouted.
“You, come with me.” David added.
As they rode away, David felt uneasy, the ride would be a bit long to where Amelia was so he rode fast. Thomas made his way towards the forest. He was not sure what he would find, if he’d find anyone but he was anxious. He heard some noise to the north so he headed in that direction quietly. After riding for a bit, he came upon a small hut and a fire that had been recently used. He quickly jumped off his horse and drew his sword. He slowly walked up to the hut and pushed the door open.
“Amelia” he whispered.
As he walked through, he saw used linen and clothes thrown about. Suddenly threw the window he could see two horses with riders fly past the hut and heading south. He ran towards his horse and jumped on to follow.
“I knew they were here” He said to himself.
