After a few hours of rest, David returned to St. Vangaltier to see what he can find. He bumped into a bunch of men who were talking about St. Vangaltier’s future.
“What was done to St. Vangaltier is unacceptable, we are part of Willshire and not one soldier appeared to protect us.” Said the first man.
“This monarch and his council are worth nothing, our King is useless.” Said another in the crowd.
“So what do you plan on doing about it?” David added to the conversation.
“It would be wonderful if we can overthrow King Paul.” Said another.
“We can, if we really wanted too.” Added David.
“Oh really? How?” The first man asked.
“We put an army together and do away with them.” David replied.
“Sounds so easy, my man. But who will take over as monarch?” the man asked.
“That we will worry about later, first we need to get this monarchy out of Willshire.” David responded.
“Well, I will join your army.” Said a voice in the darkness.
David looked in the direction to see Greyson standing there. David was surprised and elated to see such a great ally.
“Greyson!” David said in a loud voice.
“My Lord” said Greyson.
They walked up to each other and hugged.
“We must have given Thomas a heart attack by now, where did you come from?” Greyson asked.
“I got away, you know me I had to find Amelia.” David replied.
“I took my chance also and escaped after he imprisoned me.” Greyson added.
David laughed.
“You are Lord David from Landford?” the first man said.
David nodded his head in agreement.
“I am Rodger and this is John Lloyd.” He said as he pointed at the second man.
They both bowed.
“It is very nice to meet you, gentlemen.” David stated.
“So are you serious about taking over Willshire, my lord?” John Lloyd asked.
“Yes I am but not for myself, for the true heir of Willshire, Lady Amelia.” David responded.
“I wholeheartedly join you, my lord.” Rodger commented.
“As do I, my lord.” John Lloyd added.
“I thank you both and knight you as part of my army.” David said.
“Greyson, you are in command. If you wish to accept the mission.” David offered.
“For Amelia, you know my answer.” Greyson accepted.
“Now we must build the strongest, biggest army. I am counting on you men to recruit the best swordsmen.” David commanded.
Amelia and Guillaume had no idea what David was creating. In less than a day he had the commanding officers for her army chosen and ready to go.
In Landford, Thomas had become anxious waiting around for Schillingburg to attack. He decided to make the first move and take his troops into Schillingburg.
“Why wait, like sitting ducks for King Erich and his so-called army to attack us. Let us show Schillingburg what Landford can do.” King Thomas said as he spoke to his army.
“I hate threats and I hate threats from King Erich even more. He is a fool to think his army can take over Landford.” He added.
“We will set out at dusk, my Liege” said the first Officer.
“I will lead 2, 000 men into Schillingburg and leave the rest here for your protection.” He added. “Sounds lovely.” King Thomas replied.
As he began to ride away, he turned to his Officers and said “If any of you can capture King Erich alive, I will pay handsomely for him, keep that in mind.”
King Erich was about to be surprised by Landford’s army. His plan was to leave at dawn. Landford’s soldier ascended towards Schillingburg as planned. They entered Schillingburg just as they were changing of the guard. Landford replaced Schillingburg’s guards with their own which made it so much easier for them to go back and forth. Schillingburg was not as prepared as they thought. Landford’s soldier fought their way through and capture the castle. King Erich did not know what hit him, especially with the bounty on him, every soldier wanted to get him. In a blink of an eye, there were dead soldiers everywhere and the castle had been secured by Landford.
The first officer entered the throne room where King Erich and Charles sat. “We are Landford and we are taking over Schillingburg Castle!” He yelled.
King Erich got up and yelled “What is this? How did you get in here?”
The Officer walked up to him and said “Surrender and I will spare your life.”
King Erich laughed and replied “Are you mad, you are just one man.”
Charles seemed confused by King Erich’s response.
“My Grace, we have been taken over, it would be wise to listen to the man.” Charles said.
“That is impossible! Schillingburg is protected! We have many soldiers!” King Erich replied.
At that moment, the castle began to fill up with Landford soldiers.
“I can take you alive or just your head to King Thomas, you choose and choose quickly, I do not have all day.” The first Officer commanded.
“I WILL NOT SURRENDER!” yelled King Erich.
“Then I shall help you surrender.” The first Officer said as he raised his sword.
“NO, No we surrender, my Liege, do as the man says, please, spare your life.” Charles begged.
As King Erich stepped off his throne, the first Officer removed his crown and placed it on the throne. “Drape the crown and throne with Landford’s flag.” The first Officer said as he escorted King Erich and Charles to the dungeon.
“Send a note to King Thomas, Schillingburg now belongs to Landford.” The first Officer commanded.
All the men cheered.
David was very impressed by the army that was growing.
“So many good men, this army is going to be one of the greatest.” David commented.
“I agree, my Lord, you have chosen well with John Lloyd and Rodger, they are very good leaders.” Greyson replied.
“Amelia will be very impressed.” David continued.
“Is Amelia ready for all this? I know she is strong but this can be a hard road.” Greyson said.
“True, but you know Amelia.” David laughed.
The next day Thomas received notice from his army that Schillingburg had been captured and so was King Erich.
“It was easier than I thought” Reflected Thomas.
As he proudly looked out his window he could not help but wonder where Amelia was.
“If you are not dead. You are next my sweet. You will be mine once again.” He contemplated.
