I had never seen Zane so angry before. He was not supposed to be in college today as he had certain work to finish but there he was, just on time. If he hadn’t had arrived then Marcus would have embarrassed me even more in the campus but that couldn’t happen and I’m grateful to Zane but at the same time worried too. If Marcus complains to the principal then Zane might get into severe trouble and I don’t want that to happen. I don’t want Zane to get into any kind of trouble.
Gosh. Zane’s right, I really do think too much. I need some fresh air in. I drew in a deep breath under the dark sky where moon shone brightly. I haven’t come near this forest during night after that incident and now when I’m here, I realize how much I missed being here, how much I missed strolling at night. Being around nature is always peaceful. It’s a complete bliss.
“Being around nature is peaceful until the nature starts eating you” I turned to see Zane leaning against the tree.
“Zane? What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I can ask you the same dear. You shouldn’t be here at this hour of time. It’s not safe don’t you know?” he wasn’t smiling at all. He was just standing there still with a serious look on his face. I went near him and said “Well, you aren’t safe either” he let a short laugh out and hugged me.
“Go back home, the animal isn’t caught yet” he said.
“Don’t know why you want to keep me away from this forest. I love coming here and I love strolling at night, it’s so peaceful”
“And detrimental at the same time” he said. I opened my mouth to say something but fell short of words so I closed it again.
“Head towards home Bl…” What the hell! Who was that? My heart raced when someone grabbed Zane by his shirt from behind.
“Zane…” I shouted and the person looked at me. Zane fell on the ground and I could clearly see the grimace on his face. I ran in his direction but before I could help him get up, the guy pulled me back, he was holding my hand so tightly that it was hurting me.
“Stay away little girl” said the boy whose height was similar to that of Zane’s.
“Blaire, run home. I’ll see you tomorrow” Zane shouted. He was still in pain. His hands were on his head and I can’t understand, he fell on ground so his back should hurt but he’s holding his head as if someone is banging his head with a hammer. He was lying on the ground, his hands covered his ears. It looked like he’s protecting his ears from some loud noise but there was no loud music or anything around then why is he shutting his ears? The turned back to him and placed his fingers on his head making Zane yell in pain.
“Leave him you freak” I blurted out in anger and once again he turned to look at me.
“Go home” shouted Zane.
“I’m not leaving you alone like this” I shouted. How can I leave his side when he’s in so much pain. I don’t what’s causing him pain but watching him in pain is breaking my heart. I can’t and I won’t let this psycho boy hurt Zane anymore. I looked around in search of any weapon that can help me fight him. I picked up a big wooden plank that was lying next to the streetlight and walked towards the boy, making sure that my movement doesn’t alerts him and with the plank, I gave a huge and terrible hit on his head.
“AAAA” his fingers were no longer on Zane’s head. Zane looked shocked by my action. The boy was now in Zane’s place, holding his head in his hands. I could see his head bleeding.
“Got the taste of your own medicine?” I taunted.
“You stupid girl. I wasn’t going to cause you any harm but now you are going to pay for it” he grunted. He stood up and right when he was going to grab my neck I him hard on his hand with the plank, giving him some more pain. I ran towards Zane and helped him stand up while the boy was still busy with his pain. Overreacting I’d say, I hadn’t hit him that hard like he was acting. By the time he could have recovered from his pain, we both escaped.
