We halted far away from the sight but not so far from my home.
“Who was that crazy boy and what does he wants from you?” Zane was quite.
“Do you know him?” again no answer. I don’t think he’s even listening to me. He’s with me but his mind and thoughts are somewhere else.
“Zane” I shook him to bring him out of his thoughts.
“Uh… Yeah?”
“Do you know him?”
“Um.. Not.. I don’t” he said absent mindedly.
“What are you thinking Zane? You don’t seem to be alright” I asked.
“Blaire you should go home, it’s not safe for you to be out at this time” I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
“A stranger attacks you and I’m the one who’s not safe and you are absolutely safe right?”
“Please try to understand”
“No Zane. I know that you know him but I don’t know why you’re lying to me. The way he was hurting you, only an enemy hurts like that”
Attack. Hurt. I ran my gaze over Zane’s head and ears but couldn’t see any wound or even a scratch over there then what was it that was hurting him so badly?
“Zane I can see no wounds on your body then what was hurting you so much?” my question gave him a jerk.
“I… I don’t know” he said after a long pause.
“Another lie. Who was that guy?” he remained quite. What is he hiding and why? Who was that boy and why did he attack him? There are thousands of questions running in my head.
“I’ll tell you everything but upon reaching your house” he said.
We walked silently for twenty minutes. I can see that Zane is worried but I don’t know the reason behind it.
“We reached home. Now will you tell me who the boy was?”
“Blaire, you shouldn’t have hitten him like that. You don’t know what danger he can cause you. I’m worried he might hurt you to get his revenge” he replied.
“Why was he after you?”
“I’ll answer that but first can you bring me a glass of water please? I’m thirsty”
“Sure”
I stepped out of my house with a glass of water but Zane was nowhere to be seen. I called out his name but no response. So the idiot fooled me. He asked me for a glass of water only to escape from my questions but he can’t. He’s hiding something but he has to let the cat out of the bag. I won’t let him escape like this.
ZANE
I escaped from her questions, from her. I didn’t know how to answer them. I can’t. Sorry Blaire that I can’t answer your questions at least not now. What could I have said? That my head was bursting of pain because of the siren that he was ringing? You couldn’t hear that Blaire, because humans can’t. That sound of a strange metallic clang can only be heard by us, my species and it hurts. It’s meant to hurt us. I closed my ears and tried not to go through that pain but it didn’t help. That was powerful and that sound weakens us. But I’m grateful to you Blaire, if you wouldn’t have hit him then I could have died of that pain. Thanks for saving my life. I don’t know how will I face you tomorrow after escaping like this. I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what will I say. I know I shouldn’t have left like that but believe me, I had no other option.
