Bob and the others looked at each other, not sure what Leo was up to.
“Leo, you just recovered from a serious injury. Why are you here drinking alone? What happened?” Bob walked over and took Leo’s bottle away.
Leo’s eyes flashed with pain as he reached out his hand, spraying alcohol as he spoke. “Bob, why do you care so much? I asked you to come drink with me, not ask about my problems.”
“Don’t drown your sorrows in alcohol. If something is bothering you, tell me about it. We’re brothers who can go through thick and thin together!” Bob said loudly.
Leo laughed drunkenly, “You’re thinking too much. I don’t have any problems. If you don’t want to drink with me then leave! I’ll drink by myself!”
With that said, Leo grabbed another newly opened bottle of liquor from the side and started chugging it down.
“Fine, if you want to drink, then let’s drink together!” Bob tilted his head back and finished off the beer in his hand.
After they finished their drinks, Chasel and Bevis sat down next to them without saying a word before grabbing their own bottles of liquor and chugging them down!
An hour later… the table in the private room was filled with empty beer bottles on top of each other like a mountain range while some were scattered on the ground around them.
Bob claimed that beer couldn’t get to him, but at this moment, his head was swelling, his face turning red, and his consciousness becoming somewhat heavy. A feeling of upheaval surged in his stomach.
On the other hand, Leo remained as melancholic and intoxicated as before. Apart from that, he showed no reaction, as if the dozens of bottles of beer he had just consumed with Bob meant nothing to him.
Bob couldn’t hold back any longer. He swayed, emitting a dry retching sound from his mouth, and rushed towards the bathroom.
As for Chasel and Bevis, they were already lying horizontally on the sofa, unable to drink any more.
After a hearty vomiting session in the bathroom, Bob washed his head with cold water and finally became somewhat sober. Drinking beer to this extent was truly a first for him.
Coming out of the bathroom, swaying and knocking down seven or eight beer bottles with a clang, Bob returned to Leo’s side and sat down.
“Leo, you’re not an ordinary person. To make you like this, it must be because of a woman, right?”
Leo nodded sadly, “You’re right, it’s indeed because of a woman. I and Sophia are divorced.”
“What? Div… divorce?” Bob was dumbfounded by this bombshell.
“Yes, divorce,” Leo poured another sip of alcohol into his throat.
“How did this happen? The love between you and your wife is the most beautiful love I’ve ever seen in the world. How did it suddenly end?” Bob couldn’t believe that this was true.
Bevis, lying on the sofa, added, “Leo, quarrels between husband and wife are normal things. You can’t do something you’ll regret just because of impulsiveness.”
“It’s not a quarrel, nor is it impulsiveness. It’s to protect her.” Leo’s emotions had gradually stabilized.
“Protect? What exactly happened?” Bob became more and more puzzled.
Leo had to explain, “The person who injured me threatened my life through Sophia. If I don’t divorce Sophia, they will kill her. I’m not their match right now, so I can only choose to divorce Sophia to protect her.”
“Leo, who are the people who injured you?”
“They are Orientians, from the Harumitsu family.”
“Orientia? The Harumitsu family?” Bob couldn’t help but take a sharp breath.
As the number one figure in the current gray area of Langstel, Bob naturally knew about the Harumitsu family.
The Harumitsu family ranked in the top three among the top families in Orientia, and among the top twelve in the world’s top families, they held extraordinary power.
“How did you get involved with the Harumitsu family? And why do they want you to divorce?” Bob couldn’t understand.
Leo sighed and explained the cause and effect of getting involved with the Harumitsu family to the three of them.
“Maniwa wants me to divorce Sophia so that I can marry into the Harumitsu family and help them with their tasks,” Leo revealed the fundamental reason for the matter.
In fact, Leo knew that the Harumitsu family wanted to obtain the secret of his cultivation, but he couldn’t reveal this truth and had to use a different explanation.
“Damn Orientian devils, they’re really insane to use such disgusting tactics!” Chasel said indignantly.
Bob pondered for a moment and then asked, “What are you planning to do next? Should I gather all my forces and confront Maniwa head-on? As long as we drive those Orientian devils back to Orientia, you can remarry your wife.”
Leo decisively refused, “You don’t need to get involved in this matter. As you said earlier, the power of the Harumitsu family is enormous. Launching an attack without certainty will only lead to destruction.”
“No, I can’t just watch you being bullied by Orientian devils!” Bob clenched his fist.
Leo reached out and patted his shoulder, smiling, “I appreciate your kindness. I’ll handle the matter with the Harumitsu family properly. During this period, I’ll trouble you to protect Sophia secretly.”
“You don’t need to say that. I’ll have my subordinates guard her 24 hours a day!” Bob said solemnly.
…
Cloud Dream Mountain, Number Nine Villa.
Sophia, who had already returned home from work, noticed that the door was not closed and walked straight into the living room.
After a busy day, at this moment of entering her home, she finally felt her whole body relax.
Her mother, Jessica, sat on the sofa, cracking sunflower seeds while watching TV, leisurely and carefree.
Sophia called out to Jessica.
Seeing that her daughter had returned, Jessica quickly stood up from the sofa, walked towards Sophia, and greeted her with a smile, “Sophia, you’ve worked hard all day. Quickly sit on the sofa, I will make you a pot of tea, and Nora’s dinner is almost ready.”
Jessica’s smiling face and hospitality gave Sophia a sudden ominous feeling.
“Mom, where’s Leo?” Sophia scanned the living room, not seeing Leo’s figure.
“Him?” Jessica’s smile gradually disappeared, “He’s gone.”
“Gone? What do you mean?”
“Gone means gone, he won’t appear here again in the future.”
The phrase “gone” created ambiguity in Sophia’s mind. Her face changed drastically, and she nervously asked, “Has something happened to Leo again?”
“No, he left of his own accord.”
“Left on his own accord? What’s going on? Mom, can you stop playing guessing games and tell me what happened to Leo?” Sophia was getting anxious, stomping her foot.
Jessica calmly said, “Dear, I’ll tell you the truth. That useless Leo has divorced you, and he chose to leave with nothing. I’ve already kicked him out.”
