“Sophia, would you mind if I propose to you at someone else’s wedding?” Leo whispered sweetly in Sophia’s ear.
Sophia didn’t say anything, but instead leaned in and gave him a passionate kiss.
In this sweet moment, words were unnecessary. If only time could stand still forever at this moment, how wonderful it would be.
“I am so moved, and she’s so happy and so blessed. If I could meet a man who understands romance like him for the rest of my life, I’d gladly let him be a freeloader!”
The female guests were also immersed in the happiness that Leo and Sophia had created.
Mateo couldn’t take it anymore. He let go of Bethany’s hand and shouted out loud, “You’re such a worthless piece of crap! Today is my wedding day and here you are showing off your love! I’ll kick your ass!”
Mateo kicked Leo from behind with all his might.
With a loud bang followed by a scream, Mateo was unexpectedly thrown out instead of Leo.
“Honey!” Bethany cried out in shock as she ran over to Mateo on the ground to help him up.
“Slap!”
As soon as he stood up, Mateo slapped Bethany across her face with his backhand without warning or explanation. The guests were shocked beyond belief when they saw what happened next.
“You slut! I’m not marrying you anymore!” Mateo roared at Bethany after being kicked twice by Leo. His pride was hurt badly today because he never wanted to get married anyway; he just exploded right there on the spot.
Bethany was stunned after hearing what Mateo said about her; she screamed frantically, “Mateo, are you crazy?”
“Slap!”
Mateo slapped her once more across her already swollen cheek.
“Bitch, you think you can still marry me? I know you’re eyeing my money. Honestly, let me tell you, trying to tie me down with marriage won’t work!” Mateo’s face was filled with a crazy expression.
Bethany burst into tears while holding onto her cheeks, “Mateo… how can you say that?… I truly love you… you promised me that we will love each other forever.”
“Don’t be naive,” replied Mateo coldly with contemptuous laughter. “You’re just an average woman from an inferior family dreaming about climbing up high by marrying into my family; it’s impossible.”
With this sudden turn of events, Lucia was flustered as she hurried over to intervene. “Bethany, Mateo, whatever issues you have between husband and wife, it can be dealt with later. Today is your wedding day and the ceremony should take priority.”
Mateo glared at Lucia and bellowed, “Cut the crap! It’s all because you guys pressured Bethany into using her pregnancy to force me into marriage. Your family only wants to use me because I’m from the Spencer family and you want to climb up the social ladder!”
“Let me make this clear in front of everyone here today: even if Bethany is carrying my child, I will not marry her. After sleeping with someone like her once, I lost interest completely. My interest in Sophia far surpasses any feelings I have for Bethany. If I were ever going to get married, it would be with Sophia!”
Mateo’s words caused an uproar throughout the room.
The heir of the Spencer family had just announced at his own wedding that he intended on pursuing a married woman! This wasn’t just unreasonable behavior but also incredibly foolish.
“You trash! Get down on your knees right now and apologize to Sophia or else you’ll become a lifelong cripple!” Leo’s cold voice suddenly rang out in Mateo’s ear.
Whether or not Mateo married or divorced Bethany had nothing to do with Leo.
But for Mateo to fabricate lies about having feelings for Sophia was something Leo couldn’t tolerate.
People who didn’t know any better might start spreading rumors about some sort of unclear relationship between Mateo and Sophia which could seriously damage her reputation.
Seeing Leo standing before him with a cold expression on his face made Mateo sneer disdainfully as he said, “You’re nothing but garbage scum trying scare people off! A beauty like Sophia marrying someone like you is truly unfortunate; only someone like myself can give her true happiness.”
“Bam!”
Leo didn’t want waste anymore time talking nonsense so he kicked him again, sending him flying away once more.
This was Mateo’s third time being kicked by Leo, and this third kick was quite powerful. When Mateo landed, he shattered a dining table and blood spilled from his mouth.
“What the f***…” Mateo groaned in pain, wanting to curse at Leo.
But the next second, Leo appeared in front of Mateo and grabbed a broken table leg. He viciously stabbed it into the back of Mateo’s right hand.
“Ah…!!!” Mateo let out an extremely painful scream.
The scene happened too fast for anyone to react, not even the guests or Bethany and Lucia. It wasn’t until they heard Mateo’s screams that they realized what had happened.
As they watched the sharp table leg pierce through Mateo’s hand onto the ground, no one dared to approach him or help him.
Colby was also scared by this brutal scene; his lips twitched involuntarily twice. With one foot on top of Mateo’s chest, Leo looked down at him with cold eyes and said fiercely, “You can play with other people’s feelings all you want; I don’t care about that. But if you dare lay a finger on Sophia or ruin her reputation in any way, not only will I personally cripple you but I’ll also kill you!”
Talk about badass!
At this moment, no one would think that Leo was just some useless guy living off someone else’s money.
Colby couldn’t help but worry for Matteo as he knew firsthand how terrifying it could be when Leo went crazy like this. Mateo’s stupidity knew no bounds. Not only did he regret getting married but he also dragged Sophia into it! Wasn’t he asking for trouble?
Mateo’s fear grew as he felt more pressure on his chest from under Leo’s foot while looking into those fierce eyes; there wasn’t any doubt that Leo would actually kill him!
“No… Leo… Leo please forgive me! I won’t do it again! Please spare my life…” Mateo pleaded desperately while throwing away all pretense of dignity.
This sudden reversal left everyone stunned once again.
Just moments ago Mateo had been arrogant towards Leo calling him useless now here they were watching him beg. Truly ridiculous!
