Chapter 819 Confession and Proposal

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Mateo’s biggest hobby was hunting for beautiful women. He had set himself a “grand” goal of tasting every beautiful woman he had seen or known in the world.
If it weren’t for Bethany carrying his child, Mateo would never have married her.
To Mateo, marriage was a shackle and a restraint on him.
Seeing Leo expressionless and motionless, Mateo continued loudly with the microphone in his hand, “It seems that our Langstel’s celebrity is shy. Leo, everyone is looking forward to it today. If you don’t come up and say a few words, it really won’t do.”
Leo remained calm as ever without saying anything.
“Well, since you’re too scared to speak on stage,” Mateo deliberately sighed disappointedly. “Then perform barking like a dog for all of us instead. Let’s liven up my wedding atmosphere! How about that?”
A cold light flashed through Leo’s eyes as he suddenly stood up from his chair and walked towards the stage with determination.
Sophia was startled by Leo’s sudden movement and couldn’t help but pull his hand while whispering, “Leo…”
“Don’t worry about it; just sit tight,” Leo gently patted Sophia’s hand back with warmth in his smile.
After Sophia let go of his hand, Leo continued walking towards the stage.
The reason why Sophia was nervous wasn’t because she feared something would happen to Leo but rather she worried that under humiliation he might become emotional enough to cause trouble or even harm someone else due to how terrifyingly powerful he truly was. Even if there were ten or hundreds of Mateo’s around him at once, killing them all would be easy for him without breaking much sweat at all!
Almost everyone’s gaze followed Leo’s movements until he reached the stage and stood in front of Mateo.
Leo’s powerful aura and cold expression made Mateo feel a shiver deep within.
In front of so many people, Mateo couldn’t let himself be intimidated by Leo’s presence. He continued to put on an air of arrogance and said, “King of freeloaders, you should thank me for giving you a chance to speak on stage…”
Before Mateo could finish his words, the microphone in his hand suddenly left his right hand and appeared in Leo’s hand.
This startled Mateo, and he nervously asked, “You, you think you can do something to me, you useless piece of…”
“Take advantage of the fact that I haven’t lost my temper yet and get out of my sight!” Leo’s voice was deep and carried a powerful aura of intimidation.
Mateo was taken aback at first, then arrogantly said, “You dare threaten me, you worthless piece of crap?”
“Bang!”
Leo kicked Mateo directly and sent him flying.
The whole room fell silent!
Leo reached out and tapped the microphone to make sure it was working properly. He looked in Sophia’s direction and spoke loudly, “Four years ago, my grandmother’s passing was my misfortune; four years ago, being able to marry you was my luck… Here today I want to give you a poem, my love.”
Leo’s words were a big surprise to Sophia. She couldn’t help but stand up from her chair and look at Leo on stage. Tears of happiness welled up in her eyes.
The audience snapped out of their shock from Leo kicking Mateo and listened again when they heard Leo express his deep feelings for Sophia.
“What the hell is this guy doing? He’s confessing his love for his wife at someone else’s wedding!?”
“I suddenly thought of a saying in the animal world: spring has come; everything is reviving; it’s mating season again…”
“He even wrote a poem as part of his confession? Only those who live off their wives would do something so cheesy.”
“Quiet down everyone! Our poet laureate is about to recite his masterpiece!”
The venue became eerily quiet once more as everyone stretched their necks forward with wide-eyed anticipation.
Ignoring all the comments and ridicule around him, Leo gazed lovingly at Sophia before reciting what he had written:
If this life
Loving you won’t bring reincarnation
Across the riverbank,
I hear your voice
Then miss you through eternity
Residing as wind,
Loneliness is my eternal gift
After finishing his poem recitation, silence engulfed the room for quite some time before female guests began expressing how moved they were by it.
“So talented… so romantic… I’m almost melted by such deep feelings…”
“To write a poem for your loved one on someone else’s wedding day has such sentimental value that if I were her, I’d never forget this moment.”
“I can’t believe this man could be so devoted. Marrying him would mean romance until death do us part.”
Mateo got up from where he fell onto the ground ready to charge towards Leo but Bethany stopped him with one hand.
At this moment, Bethany’s eyes were filled with tears, clearly moved by Leo’s heartfelt confession.
“Honey, please don’t ruin this happy moment. I’m begging you,” Bethany pleaded.
Mateo was so angry he wanted to curse. This was his wedding reception and yet a freeloading son-in-law had the audacity to steal the spotlight with his confession. What the hell?
In the end, Mateo held back to avoid causing public outrage among female guests at the scene. He would deal with that son-in-law later.
Sophia couldn’t contain her excitement and ran up to the stage as Leo got down on one knee in front of her. Then like magic, he produced a ring box from his pocket.
Opening it revealed a sparkling diamond about the size of a pigeon egg.
“Sophia, four years ago I didn’t propose to you properly but today I officially ask for your hand in marriage. Will you marry me?” Leo lifted up the ring for all to see.
Sophia was too surprised and overwhelmed that she covered her mouth with her hand.
She never expected Leo not only confessing his love through poetry at someone else’s wedding but also proposing in front of so many guests!
In fact, when they took their wedding photos at Maple Forest Coast four years ago, Leo already had thoughts of proposing then but unforeseen circumstances prevented him from doing so properly.
Leo didn’t intend on stealing anyone’s thunder today but Mateo went too far and now he wanted him to see what true love really looked like!
Sophia was moved beyond words and after being stunned for a moment, she firmly said two words, “I do!”
Leo stood up and took out the ring from its box before slipping it onto Sophia’s left-hand finger where it belonged.
Then they hugged tightly together as applause erupted below them along with timely music playing in celebration.
Even though Sophia had gone through tragedy before getting married again, most people couldn’t help thinking she finally found true happiness as Mrs. Bloomer!
