Sophia’s dominance and strong presence intimidated many of the guests, who couldn’t help but whisper among themselves again.
“No wonder she’s a beautiful CEO, so domineering. If I could marry a woman like her, my life would be worth it.”
“Those who live off women are just that. When it comes down to it, they still need a woman to back them up. They’re nothing but failures and disgraces in the world of men!”
“I have to say, for an incompetent son-in-law like him to survive until now without any skills is truly a miracle. If I were him and had reached such a pathetic state, I would’ve died long ago. Maybe in his next life he’ll have the chance to be born into better circumstances.”
Sophia’s powerful aura made Mateo’s eyes shine with desire – desire for her body and male instinctual hunger.
Mateo didn’t want Sophia to leave because he was lusting after her body; he forced out a smile on his face as he said, “Ms. Henley, you’re being too harsh. Guests are guests; how could I possibly kick your husband out? Please sit down.”
Colby was taken aback by Mateo’s sudden change of attitude.
But soon Colby understood everything from Mateo’s expression on his face; he cursed inwardly, “What an animal that only thinks with his lower half! He wants what he can’t have.”
Colby was invited today by Mateo for his wedding ceremony when he saw Leo here as well; Colby decided to use this opportunity with Mateo’s help to humiliate Leo and get revenge against Leo’s betrayal towards him.
But now that Mateo wanted Sophia’s body too made Colby very unhappy about all this.
Noticing Colby’s ugly expression on his face, Mateo gave an awkward laugh before saying, “Mr. William, today is my big day, why argue with someone who just married into the family? Please come over here.”
Colby glared at Leo before suppressing his displeasure and following along with Mateo towards their seats in front row center stage.
“Leo, I’m sorry you had another unpleasant experience,” Sophia whispered apologetically in Leo’s ear.
Leo held her hand nonchalantly while smiling, “How many times do we need to go through this? You don’t need to apologize between us anymore since you haven’t done anything wrong.”
“If only I hadn’t asked you accompany me here today, then none of this would’ve happened.” Although Leo wasn’t bothered by it much anymore, Sophia still felt uneasy about everything inside.
“Idiot, as long as I can be by your side, even if it means going through fire and water, I won’t hesitate for a moment,” Leo said.
“Leo, thank you. It’s so good to have you,” Sophia replied with a sweet smile on her face.
Bethany and Mateo’s wedding proceeded in a lively and orderly manner.
Since Leo and the others were seated in the last row corner position, they could only hear the loud voice of the wedding officiant. As for what was happening at the front desk, due to their obstructed view, they couldn’t see it clearly.
Jessica ate viciously while wearing a cold expression on her face. She kept complaining non-stop with food in her mouth, “Lucia! We’ve been friends for over twenty years and yet you treat me like this… I finally see who you really are!”
Unlike Jessica who desperately wanted attention, Martin sat there looking indifferent while leisurely munching on sunflower seeds like a professional supporting actor.
On stage at the wedding ceremony stand, Mateo took hold of the microphone handed to him by the officiant.
“Being able to marry Bethany is my greatest fortune in this lifetime,” Mateo began his prepared speech loudly into the microphone. “For our remaining years together, I will do everything in my power to make Bethany happy…”
Bethany’s smile had blossomed into happiness already. She leaned against Mateo intimately like a little bird cuddling up next to him; every movement she made was filled with sweetness and joyfulness.
After Mateo finished his wedding speech declaration, the guests below applauded one after another congratulating them both with blessings of happiness.
“Mateo and Bethany are truly matched; they will definitely live happily ever after just like fairy tales say.”
“That’s for sure! In future I want to become an upper-class lady marrying into wealth just like Bethany!”
“I’m so envious ah~ If you ask me though, marriage between rich people isn’t really love’s graveyard but rather its starting point towards happiness; it’s also women’s gateway towards better lives.”
Amidst everyone’s discussions, Mateo spoke again, “I believe everyone here has heard that saying ‘no pain no gain’. Today I’ll use that phrase differently. Without comparison we cannot see true happiness.”
“When standing beside each other, one being successful, outstanding, handsome man while another being someone living off someone else, we can witness what true essence of joyfulness looks like.”
“Tsk tsk~ That statement from Mateo has such depth.”
“Is the man Mateo just taught a lesson to?”
“Definitely. That guy’s name is Leo, Sophia’s husband and the Henley family’s son-in-law.”
Seeing that the atmosphere was getting heated, Mateo pointed in Leo’s direction and shouted, “Now let us warmly welcome Leo, Langstel’s most famous son-in-law of all time, to come up on stage and share his happiness with us!”
Everyone looked over in the direction that Mateo was pointing.
“I was wondering why Mateo would invite a son-in-law over for his wedding. Now I understand how clever he is,” someone said.
“One is a rich young master from a prestigious family while the other is a parasite from an inferior family. The contrast couldn’t be more stark,” another person added.
“I bet that son-in-law won’t dare go up on stage!”
“Of course not! Does he have anything to share?”
“Hahaha…”
Although everyone mocked Leo relentlessly like waves crashing against him, he remained calm as ever.
“Leo…” Sophia called out softly but didn’t know what else to say. She really wanted to take him away from there at this moment.
“Haven’t you heard Mateo sincerely inviting you up on stage? Don’t disappoint everyone now!”
“That’s right! We all want to hear your experience. Don’t let us down…” A few guests joined in teasing him as well.
Mateo was very satisfied with his actions; humiliating Leo at his own wedding was both interesting and meaningful for him.
