“Hahaha…” Joyce laughed maniacally while scratching her own face with her nails.
Approaching Gordon, she taunted, “Hey, who are you? What are you doing on my turf?”
Seizing the moment of Gordon’s confusion, Joyce snatched the knife from his hand, then, disheveled, charged toward Leo.
Leo smirked, delivering a backhanded slap. Joyce, playing crazy, once again found herself sprawled on the ground, the knife discarded nearby.
Leo, uninterested in Gordon and the others, turned and left the stone chamber. Black Dragon followed suit.
The grand drama of returning to Green Spring City’s maternal home concluded with the blood of the Gunter family.
Back in Langstel, after a brief adjustment, life resumed its normal course.
In the afternoon, at the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic, Leo, finishing with patients, stretched lazily. Just as he was about to sip some tea, a sweet voice echoed from outside.
“Leo!”
Turning to the sound, Leo was astonished to see Tina standing at the door.
“Tina, how come you’re here?” After a moment, Leo managed to ask.
“Can’t I come?” Tina countered.
“Weren’t you busy preparing for studying abroad?”
“That’s almost sorted out. Are you free tonight?”
Only then did Leo notice Tina, dressed in a black outfit with a large hollow on her back, revealing smooth and fair skin, quite eye-catching.
Leo had some understanding of this sister-in-law; she was always up to something.
“I have to pick up Sophia at 5:30, so…”
Before Leo could finish, Tina interrupted, “I’ve talked to my sister. You don’t have to pick her up tonight because you’re taking me somewhere.”
“Where do you want me to take you?” Leo asked, puzzled.
“To a gathering,” Tina replied.
Leo’s confusion deepened. Tina used to detest him, especially after Leo became mute; she refused to acknowledge him as her brother-in-law. So, Tina’s behavior today seemed abnormal to Leo.
“What’s wrong? Don’t want to?” Tina pouted. “Don’t forget, you promised to do something for me!”
Sophia had mentioned Leo’s commitment after he saved her from the Seven Stars Sword Sect’s Janet and others who had kidnapped her.
Leo reluctantly nodded, “Fine, I’ll go with you.”
“That’s more like it,” Tina chirped, snapping her fingers.
Twenty minutes later, Leo and Tina left the clinic. Almost simultaneously, a Maserati pulled up.
The door opened, and a sunglasses-clad girl emerged. Tall and exuding a strong aura, she wore a see-through black top, exposing a pristine abdomen, paired with soft hot pants.
The combination of fair skin, long legs, and a beautiful face caught the attention of passersby. Yet, her cold and arrogant expression made many lower their heads.
“Vanessa!” Tina greeted, and Vanessa, upon seeing Leo behind Tina, momentarily darkened her previously smiling face.
“Tina, bringing a guy along, Nelson won’t be happy,” Vanessa remarked coldly.
Vanessa hasn’t seen Leo before, so she doesn’t know he is Tina’s brother-in-law. From Vanessa’s words, Leo can deduce that this gathering isn’t simple, and Tina bringing him along likely serves another purpose. Tina replied with a smile, “Didn’t Nelson say gatherings allow bringing friends? Leo is my friend; I don’t think Nelson would mind.”
Vanessa, still displeased, eyed Leo. “What?” Leo stared at Vanessa. “Not welcoming me? Fine, I won’t join the fun.”
Tina blinked, “Leo, if you’re not going, I won’t either.”
“Get in the car.” Vanessa, despite her inner discontent, couldn’t skip the gathering as Tina had to attend. After Leo and Tina got in, Vanessa revved the engine, swiftly reaching a club.
Upon entering, Vanessa let Tina go ahead and cornered Leo. “Leo, you’re really insipid. Don’t you have any self-awareness?”
“What self-awareness?” Leo asked, puzzled.
Vanessa’s face darkened, “You’re probably working at that Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic. With your background, you’re not qualified or worthy of being with Tina.”
Leo smiled faintly, “Are you misunderstanding something?”
“What do you mean?” Vanessa, furious, snapped, “Are you saying Tina clings to you? You’re truly arrogant. What are you?”
“Let me tell you, you’re not even qualified to be Tina’s lover, let alone a regular friend. You’re not in our league. I brought Tina here today to introduce her to a wealthy guy. Your presence will upset him.”
Misinterpreting Leo and Tina’s relationship, Vanessa displayed strong disdain. Finally, she added, “If you have any self-awareness, leave now, or you’ll regret it later.”
Leo chuckled, about to retort when Tina returned. “Leo, why haven’t you gone in?” Sophia approached, warmly linking her arm with Leo’s.
“Leo said he’s not feeling well and doesn’t want to go in. He’s going to borrow some money from me for a cab to go home and rest.” Vanessa coldly looked at Leo, then handed over a hundred bucks. “Take it; you don’t have to pay it back.”
This was her way of trying to drive Leo away. Tina asked with concern, “Leo, are you feeling unwell? Should we go to the hospital?”
“I’m fine when I see you.” Leo, showing no respect to Vanessa, said, “Let’s go inside.”
Leo actively held Tina’s hand, entering the club. This move infuriated Vanessa behind them. “No face at all. You’ll regret it when Nelson gets angry later,” she muttered through gritted teeth.
Inside, they entered a small courtyard, elegantly decorated with an ancient charm, complete with flowing water and small bridges. Over a dozen young men and women in exquisite attire gathered, radiating affluence and status.
Seeing Tina’s arrival, all eyes turned, many lighting up. “Vanessa, you’re here?” One young man laughed and hugged Vanessa.
