Chapter 688: The Cost of Blood

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Gordon might disdain Leo, but he wouldn’t dare underestimate Lee Hemingway and Black Dragon. Their words sent shivers through Gordon’s heart.
Perplexed, Gordon couldn’t fathom how a freeloading son-in-law could have such a good relationship with Lee Hemingway and Black Dragon.
In desperation, Gordon sought a breakthrough in their relationship: “Leo, plotting against my Gunter family, are you even human? I’m Sophia’s grandfather and Jessica’s father. Your actions will not be forgiven by God!”
Leo, sneering at Gordon’s self-righteousness, said, “Old man, you already made it clear you don’t see me as human. In that case, I can do anything to you and your Gunter family.”
“Leo, you devil!” Gordon felt a chill, his composure shattered.
Leo turned to Lee Hemingway, “Mr. Hemingway, please take my wife outside.”
Lee Hemingway gestured to Sophia, “Miss Henley, come with me.”
“Leo…” Despite her disdain for Ethan and the others, Sophia, out of familial obligation, hesitated.
Leo, understanding Sophia well, signaled with a glance. She understood, following Lee Hemingway out.
With Sophia gone, Gordon felt drained. Leo, eyeing him coldly, said, “Don’t waste time, make your choice.”
Facing overwhelming power, Gordon conceded, “Leo, Ethan and Joyce offended you. On behalf of them, I apologize. Spare them, please.”
Leo, scornful, retorted, “Your old face? Do you even have face?”
“Gordon, you’re pushing it!” Leo’s words nearly made Gordon cough up blood.
“Stop babbling, make your choice. I have little patience, and you better not provoke me again.”
“Leo, we’re family. Why treat us like this?” Joyce, silent until now, spoke.
“Family?” Disdain filled Leo’s face. “When you kidnapped Sophia, mocked me without mercy, did you think about family?”
Joyce was silenced by Leo’s retort.
Seeing Mignon attempting to escape, Leo appeared lightning-quick in front of her, delivering a resounding slap.
Leo, holding a knife from Mignon’s waist, taunted, “Tell me, how do you want to die?”
“Cousin, save me!” Mignon pleaded, looking at Black Dragon.
Black Dragon, indifferent, said, “Mignon, face the consequences of your actions. I can’t save you.”
Just now, in the corridor, Lee Hemingway briefly introduced Leo to Black Dragon. When Black Dragon learned about Leo’s significant connection with the Langstelthe Browne family, he realized that even if he couldn’t become friends with Leo, he couldn’t afford to make him an enemy either.
Black Dragon’s response crushed Mignon’s hopes. As Mignon begged Leo for mercy, a cold gleam flashed.
“Ah…!!” A harrowing scream echoed in the stone chamber, sending shivers down spines.
Mignon’s right hand had detached from his arm, and blood gushed out like a faucet. Black Dragon, observing this, merely twitched his eye corners, saying nothing.
After taking Mignon’s hand, Leo walked over to Joyce, raising the blood-stained knife, “Joyce, tell me, how do you want to die?”
Terrified, Joyce had already wet herself, kneeling in front of Leo, continuously begging, “Leo, please spare me. I won’t dare again. I’m willing to be your servant; you say east, I won’t go west.”
Leo kicked Joyce away. Then, he approached Gordon, tossing the knife on the ground, asking, “I’ll ask you one last time, what’s your choice?”
Leo’s brutality made Gordon’s body tremble involuntarily; he knew escaping today’s ordeal was impossible.
Gordon, with difficulty, bent down, picking up the blood-drenched knife from the ground. His right hand shook violently, as if he held not a knife but a bomb.
Turning slowly, Gordon dragged his steps toward Ethan. “Grandson, I’m your kin. You can’t lay hands on me. You can’t believe that dead dog Leo; he’s deceiving you.”
Ethan, one foot already broken by Leo and another kicked, couldn’t rise from the ground, let alone resist Gordon. He could only crawl and plead.
Paige, awakening from her daze, endured the pain to crawl toward Gordon, embracing his thighs, pleading, “Dad, you mustn’t do this. Ethan is the Gunter family’s successor; you can’t turn him into a cripple!”
Gordon, gripping the knife, looked down at Paige with red eyes, speaking emotionlessly, “Paige, what happened today is caused by your good son Ethan. You educated him; you must take responsibility for his actions.”
Having said that, Gordon plunged the knife into Paige’s thigh. She screamed in terror, letting go of Gordon’s thighs and fainting from the shock.
“Mom!” Ethan exclaimed in shock.
Gordon instinctively glanced at Leo, seemingly hoping Leo would call it off. However, all Gordon saw was Leo’s expressionless face.
Unfazed, Gordon continued holding the knife, approaching Ethan. Ethan’s terror, cries, and curses had no effect on Gordon, who was losing his sanity.
“Ethan, for the entire Gunter family, I have to do this. Blame yourself for provoking Leo and kidnapping Sophia.”
After saying this, a glint of ruthlessness flashed in Gordon’s eyes as he thrust the knife into Ethan’s thigh. Overwhelmed by intense pain and fear, Ethan fainted.
Seeing her father and brother being attacked by Gordon, Joyce, kicked away by Leo earlier, finally succumbed to overwhelming terror, her sanity completely shattered.
