Chapter 511: Plea

Despite Chasel’s words, Leo could still sense a hint of discomfort on his face. He motioned for Chasel to sit down and applied a few more stitches to his back.
Bevis couldn’t help but ask, “Leo, those people who came earlier were specifically looking for trouble with you. What did they want you to do?”
Leo briefly explained the situation to Bevis and Chasel about how Harry had asked him to treat someone’s illness.
Chasel, after hearing the story, clenched his fist and declared, “Dr. Bloomer, if those guys come bothering you again, I’ll help you fight them off!”
“And count me in!” Bevis chimed in, “I can’t stand bullies who use their power to oppress others!”
Leo smiled, “I appreciate your kindness, but if those guys come back, I’ll handle them my way.”
Inside the Presidential Suite of the Holiday Hotel,
Baldwin couldn’t contain his anger, slamming an ashtray on the coffee table as he roared, “This Leo, he’s just a freeloading son-in-law, yet he acts so arrogant! Whether it’s in Langstel or anywhere else, I can make him miserable!”
After Levi reported back, Baldwin was seething. He had never experienced this kind of frustration in his life.
Throughout his life, it was usually him being begged, but today, he had to lower his status and beg an outsider. However, that person didn’t yield, and it left Baldwin seething.
To be honest, Baldwin even felt a murderous intent towards Leo.
Seeing Baldwin so furious, Harry quickly said, “Mr. Meredith, don’t worry. I have some acquaintance with Dr. Bloomer. I’ll personally go and get him; he should come.”
With that, Harry turned his gaze to Baldwin’s trusted bodyguard, Levi, and asked, “Levi, when you and the others went to the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic earlier, did you have any conflicts with Dr. Bloomer?”
Harry asked this question because he still had some understanding of Leo, and if there had been a conflict, it could complicate the situation.
Baldwin, turning his gaze towards Levi, who had previously been instructed to bring Leo, was concerned. He had ordered Levi to invite Leo, not to use force.
Levi’s face turned nervous and replied, “Mr. Bloomer refused to come, and we had a minor conflict.”
Upon hearing that a conflict had occurred, Harry’s expression soured slightly. In a somewhat reproachful tone, he said, “If you went to invite someone, why resort to force? Mr. Meredith, please remain calm. I’ll go and fetch Dr. Bloomer.”
With the situation as it was, and his sister’s condition deteriorating, Baldwin’s hopes were pinned on Leo.
After Harry volunteered, Baldwin’s complexion improved slightly, and he said, “Mr. Toby, I appreciate your help.”
Feeling uncomfortable, Thomas sat dejectedly on the sofa, his face somewhat pale, unable to utter a word.
When Harry arrived at the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Center, he saw Leo diagnosing a patient’s pulse.
“Dr. Bloomer, are you busy?” Harry greeted him with a smile.
Leo looked up and replied, “Mr. Toby, let’s get the unpleasant part out of the way. If you’ve come for a chat, you’re welcome. If it’s about treating that sister of Baldwin’s, please turn back.”
Harry was taken aback and couldn’t utter a word. Leo’s straightforward refusal had caught him off guard.
“Dr. Bloomer, that Baldwin is the eldest son of the Meredith family, and due to his family background, he has developed an arrogant personality. He was indeed rude to you earlier, but Miss Meredith is innocent…”
Leo interrupted, “Mr. Toby, there’s no need for you to continue. If it were your affair, I would surely lend a hand, but I am helpless in this matter.”
Even a mild-tempered person has their limits, and Leo was no exception. While he would treat kind-hearted people for free, he had no patience for those who were arrogant and disrespectful. To them, he would not only refuse help but also return their arrogance tenfold.
Knowing that he couldn’t change Leo’s mind, Harry could only leave with a bitter expression.
After leaving the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Center, Harry didn’t return to the Holiday Hotel, nor did he call Baldwin to report the outcome. He was feeling incredibly troubled at the moment.
Harry decided to visit his father, old Toby, and discuss the matter with him to see if he could offer any advice.
After old Toby heard a brief account of the situation, he contemplated for a moment and said, “Baldwin is indeed arrogant and rude. I can understand why Dr. Bloomer wouldn’t want to treat his sister. However, Baldwin is part of the Meredith family, and they have considerable power and influence. If Dr. Bloomer offends the Meredith family, it won’t bode well.”
Harry agreed, saying, “Yes, Dr. Bloomer may not be aware of the Meredith family’s influence. He’s determined not to treat Baldwin’s sister, and I’m at a loss for what to do.”
In truth, Harry was more concerned about the billion-dollar business collaboration project with the Meredith family than Leo’s situation.
Old Toby chastised him, saying, “I told you before, you should have cultivated a relationship with Dr. Bloomer when there was no pressing issue. It would have been better to make friends with him in advance. Now, when you need him, it’s not easy to ask for his help.”
Harry admitted, “Dad, you were right all along. I should have heeded your advice.”
After Leo successfully treated his father, old Toby had told him to try and make friends with Leo, but Harry had underestimated the doctor’s importance and thought money could solve everything.
Now he realized how crucial Leo had become.
Old Toby said, “Enough of the gloomy face. Today, old man Toby is putting his reputation on the line for you. I’ll speak on your behalf.”
He rose from the couch, and from his study, retrieved a dark reddish-brown wooden box, instructing the butler to accompany him to the clinic.
When they arrived at the center, Leo was in the middle of a conversation with two men. Old Toby greeted him warmly, saying, “Dr. Bloomer, hope everything is fine.”
Seeing Harry’s father, Leo understood his intentions but still quickly stood up and welcomed him, “Mr. Toby, welcome, please have a seat.”
Once old Toby and his butler were seated, Leo had Sarah serve them tea.
Leo hadn’t expected old Toby to visit, and if he asked for a favor, it could be tricky. After some casual conversation, old Toby seemed to remember something and signaled his butler. He then said, “Dr. Bloomer, I came here today because I have something I’d like to ask for your help with.”
The butler immediately presented a dark reddish-brown wooden box to Leo.
