“It’s impossible! You haven’t even prepared an antidote; how could you possibly cure my poison?” Louis Jennings refused to believe.
The onlookers, too, wore puzzled expressions, eager to hear Leo’s explanation.
“I can accurately list the ingredients you used to prepare the poison brew. Naturally, it’s effortless for me to cure your poison,” Leo explained, pointing to the ceramic bowl he’d used to prepare the poison brew. “Before drinking your poison brew, I secretly took a sip of the poison brew I prepared. In other words, I used your poison to cure mine. This technique has a cool name: ‘fighting poison with poison.'”
Louis Jennings was taken aback by Leo’s words, coughing and spitting out blood again. He mumbled, “This can’t be, this can’t be…”
Seeing Louis Jennings about to collapse, one of his disciples quickly reached out to support him.
“Now that the situation is clear, you failed to prepare an antidote, and I’m unharmed. Therefore, I’ve won this competition,” Leo declared.
Leo handed Louis Jennings the ceramic bowl he’d used to prepare the poison brew, with a small amount of it remaining. “Your poison brew, I’ve saved you a bit. Drink it, and the poison in your body will be neutralized.”
The fact that his own poison brew turned out to be the antidote left Louis Jennings incredulous. He endured the pain coursing through his body and shouted, “You’re lying, this can’t be!”
Leo didn’t want to waste any more time arguing with him; otherwise, this old man might meet a fatal end due to the poison. He pinched Louis Jennings’ cheeks and forcefully poured the poison brew into his mouth.
As the poison brew went down, Leo released his grip, and Louis Jennings started coughing violently, then began vomiting continuously.
With each expulsion of foul substances from his stomach, his terrifying complexion gradually improved.
After two or three minutes, Louis Jennings stopped vomiting, his color returned to normal, and there was no longer any sign of poisoning.
It was evident that Louis Jennings’ poison brew was indeed the antidote to Leo’s poison.
Dr. Davy and the others were left dumbfounded. They couldn’t comprehend this bizarre turn of events unless they had seen it with their own eyes.
“Master, this is a real master!”
“Medical genius, this is a real medical genius!”
The onlookers were left in admiration of Leo.
“Dr. Bloomer is amazing!”
Someone suddenly shouted, followed by applause from the crowd.
Leo waved his hand grandiosely. “The competition is over. May the loser accept defeat. From now on, Read Clinic will become a subsidiary of my Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic.”
“Who gave you the guts to take my dad’s clinic?” A cold voice came from outside the door, followed by the appearance of several individuals in white uniforms.
Almost instinctively, the crowd made way for them.
Leading the group was a plump middle-aged woman in her forties, with a round face and an imposing demeanor.
Accompanying her were four individuals, three men and one woman, all with an air of arrogance about them.
The arrival of the middle-aged woman brought a smile to the face of the female doctor, who called out, “Sally!”
Initially drained of energy, Louis Jennings suddenly perked up with the arrival of his daughter. It was like a shot of adrenaline.
The middle-aged woman, Sally Jennings, first shot Leo a disdainful glance, then walked up to Louis Jennings and asked, “Dad, what’s going on?”
Louis Jennings pointed at Leo and said, “Sally, this guy is a Chinese medicine practitioner from the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic. He came to my clinic, challenged me to a poison competition, and not only wants to force me out of Langstel but also occupy my clinic.”
Although many people were watching, Louis Jennings decided not to save face when it came to his clinic.
In response to Louis Jennings’ words, the crowd erupted into an uproar. If not for everyone being civilized, they might have spat at Louis Jennings.
Seeing Louis Jennings twisting the truth, Dr. Davy couldn’t stand by any longer and tried to speak, but Leo stopped him.
Leo had anticipated Louis Jennings would play dirty, and now with his daughter’s sudden appearance, it was the perfect opportunity to crush him.
After hearing her father’s words, Sally looked at Leo with a disdainful expression and said, “This is absurd. Medical skills are meant to heal people, not for competitive bravado. You, young man, came here for a poison competition. Your actions already constitute a violation of the law. I will seal your clinic and revoke your medical license.”
“Sally, the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic is a black-market clinic. You must shut it down to prevent further harm,” the female doctor chimed in.
“Banning black-market clinics is our responsibility!” Sally said, her face stern.
Among the four individuals who accompanied her here, one understood her intentions. He took out his phone and prepared to contact other agencies for a joint enforcement action against the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic.
Leo’s expression remained calm as he looked at Louis Jennings. “Old man, it seems like you’re not willing to admit defeat?”
This statement directly provoked Sally, who stood in front of her father. She sneered, “Kid, the contest you just had holds no legal validity, and even if it did, your words wouldn’t count for much!”
Leo maintained a calm expression and looked directly at Sally, saying, “So, you’ve decided to throw ethics to the wind?”
Sally, irritated by Leo’s gaze, sneered defiantly. “Kid, let me tell you the truth. From now on, your clinic won’t be able to operate, and you’ll never become a doctor!”
“Is that so? Who do you think you are, acting with such authority?” Leo scoffed.
“I’m the Deputy Director of the Central Management Bureau, and I oversee Chinese medicine clinics!” Sally proclaimed proudly.
“Starting now, you’re no longer the Deputy Director!” a stern voice suddenly rang out.
Sally was taken aback, her expression turning grim. She asked, “Who said that? Who dares to speak like this? Show yourself!”
“It’s me, Director-General Lynd Lynd.”
Director-General Lynd Lynd?
Sally turned her head to look in the direction of the voice. She saw a middle-aged man emerging from the crowd.
Sally first looked surprised, then her face turned pale. She immediately threw herself in front of Director-General Lynd and cried out, “Director-General Lynd!”
Director-General Lynd cast a disdainful glance at her, then kicked her down with a single blow.
Sally fell to the ground, realizing she had caused herself a massive problem today.
“As the Deputy Director, is this how you uphold justice? Do you realize your actions just now constitute a duty-related crime?” Director-General Lynd’s words were stern, piercing Sally’s heart like needles.
She had worked hard to reach her current position. If she angered Director-General Lynd, she knew very well what the consequences would be. So, she decided to kneel before Director-General Lynd, crying and admitting her mistakes.
