Director-General Lynd, however, didn’t want to pay any attention to her. He walked up to Leo and apologized, “Leo, I’m really sorry. It’s my lack of discipline that brought you trouble.”
Leo smiled generously, “Director-General Lynd, no need to be so formal. What brings you here?”
“I’ve been meaning to thank you for saving my life and my father’s life a while ago. Today, I happened to be passing by your clinic and heard you were here,” Director-General Lynd explained.
Hearing their conversation, Sally felt like the sky was darkening. She had no idea about Leo’s connection with Director-General Lynd, and now, she was in big trouble.
Frustrated, Sally began to blame her father, Louis Jennings. If he hadn’t called her to come and help, she wouldn’t have provoked Director-General Lynd.
Louis Jennings’ disciples were also confused. They never expected Leo to know Director-General Lynd.
After Director-General Lynd left, the matter came to a close. As expected, Sally wasn’t fired but received a severe warning. Read Clinic became Leo’s property, while Louis Jennings and his disciples left Langstel, their heads hanging in shame.
Although Louis Jennings was resentful, he couldn’t do anything about it. He feared that if he stayed in Langstel, Leo would poison him quietly.
Once everyone dispersed, Read Clinic returned to its usual calm. Since they didn’t have enough staff to operate, Leo temporarily closed it and had Scar coordinate with Dr. Davy to count the medicinal herbs.
There were many herbs, both large and small, totaling over a thousand types and worth several million dollars. Even with Scar’s help, Dr. Davy spent two full days counting everything.

In Spring Wind Cosmetics, Ford sat in his office with bandaged hands, smoking a cigar. He looked gloomy.
Suddenly, a knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. He said, “Come in.”
A man in a pristine white suit entered the office. His hair was slicked back with shiny pomade, and he wore white leather shoes, giving him a stylish appearance.
This man was Larry Roy, a sales manager at the Meiran Group.
“Mr. Gregory!” Larry glanced at Ford and said in a deep voice, “Sophia Cosmetics is about to make a delivery of products to Meiran Group today. Our opportunity has arrived.”
Ford understood his meaning immediately, flicked his cigar, and looked at Larry. “What’s your plan?”
Larry smirked and said, “If there are serious quality issues with Sophia Cosmetics’ products, causing consumers to suffer severe allergic reactions…”
Ford’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Larry, I’ll leave this matter to you. I want Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company and Sophia Cosmetics to disappear from Langstel completely.”
Larry confidently pledged, “Mr. Gregory, rest assured. The show is about to begin!”
…
In Sophia Cosmetics’ general manager’s office, Sophia was in a good mood. The company had just completed a six-million-dollar order.
Their cooperation with the Meiran Group had been successful, and with the Meiran Group’s strong marketing capabilities, it wouldn’t be long before their cosmetics sales surpassed Spring Wind Cosmetics.
Just then, Sophia’s phone rang. She picked it up and saw that it was Trista Bronte, the chairman of the Meiran Group.
Sophia adjusted her mood and answered, “Ms. Chen, hello.”
“Miss Henley, have you seen today’s news? There’s a big problem!” Trista’s voice sounded flustered.
Sophia was taken aback. “Ms. Chen, please calm down. What happened?”
“After we put your company’s cosmetics on the market today, many consumers experienced severe allergic reactions!” The news from Trista left Sophia stunned.
Sophia couldn’t believe it. “Ms. Chen, that’s impossible. My company is currently distributing products from Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, and all their products are certified by authoritative national agencies. It’s impossible for them to cause allergic reactions.”
Trista sighed, “It happened suddenly, and I don’t know what’s going on. All the products have been recalled from the market, and Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company has been ordered to stop production. If their products are indeed problematic, they might even get shut down!”
Sophia was in disbelief. “How could this happen? The first two batches had no problems. Why is this happening now? Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company’s products are definitely not the issue.”
Sophia hung up, feeling overwhelmed. She opened her computer and checked the online news. This issue had exploded on the internet, with some internet users spreading the news aggressively. It had become a hot topic in Langstel and even the entire country.
How could this happen?
Sophia had sent samples from every batch of cosmetics to authoritative agencies for testing, and each time, the results showed no issues. This meant that there couldn’t be a problem with Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company’s products.
So why were there widespread allergic reactions once the products were sold through the Meiran Group?
Sophia was at a loss. She decided to call Leo.
“Sophia, what’s wrong?” Leo rarely received calls from her during work hours, so he suspected something was amiss.
Sophia tried to control her emotions and said, “Leo, have you seen today’s news? There’s a problem with Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company’s products.”
Leo, on the other end of the phone, paused for a moment and asked calmly, “What kind of problem has occurred?”
“I transferred the third batch of cosmetics from Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company to the Meiran Group yesterday. After they put these products on the market, users are experiencing severe allergic reactions on their skin,” Sophia explained with concern.
