Chapter 378: Only Bigger

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Watching the alligators devouring their fallen companions, Master Grant felt extremely displeased. He shouted, “Attack them all!”
The alligators obediently stopped their feasting and turned their massive jaws toward the pine forest, opening their mouths wide.
Another round of lightning orb attacks erupted from the alligators’ mouths.
After a series of explosive blasts, several thick pine trees collapsed, sending dirt and debris flying through the air.
Once again, everyone had to shift positions, concealing themselves behind intact pine tree trunks.
“These damn alligators! At this rate, they’ll level this entire pine forest!” Jim cursed as the pine tree he had been hiding behind collapsed, causing a minor injury to his arm.
“We can’t just keep taking this without doing anything!” Curitis, with his great strength, pulled a grenade from his waist, removed the pin, and hurled it toward the alligators.
The grenade sailed through the air in a long arc and landed in one alligator’s open mouth. The alligator, thinking it had swallowed something edible, instinctively gulped it down.
“Boom!” A massive explosion followed, instantly tearing the alligator in half.
Witnessing the effectiveness of Curitis’s grenade, he wore a delighted expression.
Roy and Jim, having observed the scene, took grenades from their waists and threw them towards the terrifying alligators one after the other.
A series of deafening explosions ensued, resulting in several more alligators meeting their demise.
The successful grenade attacks brought great relief to Leo, who promptly instructed Franklin, “Franklin, head back to the mountaintop and have Clark and Bard bring down all the weapons!”
Franklin acknowledged the order and hurried back along the same path.
Clark and Bard worked swiftly, and with Franklin’s assistance, they soon arrived with two boxes of weapons, which included not only grenades but also bazookas and grenade launchers, all highly destructive.
With these weapons in hand, the group’s confidence soared. After a brief distribution, they began their counterattack against the alligators.
Deafening explosions resounded on this mountainside. After each explosion, another alligator met its end. Despite the Purple Thunder Spirit Alligators’ tough skin, it couldn’t withstand the relentless bombardment of explosives.
Six to seven minutes later, more than ten alligators had met their demise on the spot.
Roy couldn’t help but shout with excitement. He had narrowly escaped becoming alligator food in the water earlier, so the satisfaction of eliminating so many alligators was palpable.
Jim also cheered and threw two more grenades.
Unlike the excitement of Roy and the others, Master Grant’s heart was bleeding. He had invested heavily in raising these Purple Thunder Spirit Alligators, and now, so many of them had been killed. It was like a chunk of his heart had been torn away.
Janet, who was standing on the side, had a grim expression. She was completely taken aback by the fact that Leo and his team had brought such powerful weaponry.
“Boom!”
After another explosion, yet another alligator was reduced to chunks of flesh.
Master Grant could no longer endure it and gritted his teeth as he shouted, “Retreat into the water, all of you!”
The surviving alligators immediately turned and crawled back towards the water’s edge.
Leo and his team couldn’t let this opportunity slip away. They rushed out of the pine forest and kept throwing grenades at the retreating alligators.
In the end, only five or six alligators returned to the water unharmed.
Master Grant turned his gaze towards the water and roared in anger, “Today, none of you will leave here alive. Come forth, my dearest and largest treasure!”
As Master Grant’s furious shout, infused with his inner strength, reverberated, the water in the vast pool in the center of the mountainside began to churn violently. It was as if some colossal creature was slowly emerging from the depths of the water.
“Gurgle…”
The agitation of the water became more intense, and massive bubbles rose to the surface and burst with a series of gurgling sounds.
All eyes immediately focused on the center of the water pool.
A massive back emerged from the water, covered in spikes as thick as adult human arms. You could even see electricity flickering on these spikes, which was terrifying.
Soon, the colossal creature fully revealed itself from the water. It was a gigantic alligator, approximately more than twenty meters in length. At first glance, it resembled a prehistoric dinosaur.
The enormous alligator’s body was like a moving hill, covered in light purple scales. Its two massive eyes were a purplish-red color, and they radiated boundless ferocity from their pupils.
Seeing such an enormous alligator, everyone was seeing it for the first time, and their expressions were frozen in awe.
Compared to this colossal alligator, the alligators that appeared earlier were like sparrows compared to an ostrich.
Leo’s pupils contracted, and his expression revealed astonishment. He murmured to himself, “This is a true spirit beast, and its level is probably no lower than second-tier.”
Jennifer shifted her gaze from the gigantic alligator and said to Leo, “This alligator should have hatched from the spirit beast egg that Jeff and Janet obtained in the hidden realm.”
Leo nodded, realizing that the previous alligators were most likely the offspring of this colossal alligator.
The appearance of the gigantic alligator filled Janet’s old eyes with excitement and astonishment. When she and Jeff obtained the spirit beast egg in the hidden realm, they had no idea what would hatch from it.
In order for Jeff to become the sect leader, they had offered the spirit beast egg to Master Grant. However, over the years, they hadn’t forgotten about the spirit beast egg, and they had always been curious about what creature it would hatch.
Today, Janet finally knew, and she felt some regret. If she had known earlier, she wouldn’t have given the spirit beast egg to Master Grant. Having such a spirit beast could have easily dealt with Leo and his team.
“My dearest, it’s been a long time since you’ve come out to play!” Master Grant sneered, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared on the back of the colossal alligator.
Master Grant held onto one of the spikes on the alligator’s back with one hand and pointed at Leo’s group with the other. He shouted loudly, “Advance and eliminate those humans!”
The Purple Thunder Spirit Alligator understood Master Grant’s words and raised their massive heads, taking two steps forward.
The water level in the entire pool had dropped several meters due to the departure of the Purple Thunder Spirit Alligator.
Everyone snapped out of their daze and grabbed grenades, then began to throw them at the approaching Purple Thunder Spirit Alligator.
It emitted a strange sound from their throats, and suddenly, its body surged with electricity. A lightning barrier instantly appeared, protecting Master Grant.
