Watching that confident, unruly, and domineering figure, President Leacock and Manager Arnold stood frozen in place, momentarily lost in thought.
Outside the auction venue, as Leo was about to head to the parking lot, someone suddenly rushed toward him in a frenzy.
This person was none other than Athena, who harbored intense resentment towards Leo. She pounced on him as if she were a mad dog, ready to confront him physically.
*Smack! Smack! Smack!*
A series of slaps resounded, but they weren’t coming from Leo’s face; instead, Athena’s own face had become slightly swollen from her assault.
When Leo finally stopped her, Athena’s once-beautiful face had turned into a mess.
Tears streamed down Athena’s face like pearls falling off a broken necklace. She yelled at Gilbert, who was standing nearby, “Gilbert, you coward! I’m being attacked, and you’re hiding like a turtle!”
Gilbert, looking at Leo’s cold gaze, realized that the masked man who had bid against Mr. Church was indeed Leo.
Staring at Leo’s piercing eyes, Gilbert became even more fearful. He understood that if he continue to offend Leo today, he might not leave this place unscathed.
The crowd gathered around, drawn by the commotion. Some even came prepared with folding chairs, snacks, and soft drinks, showcasing their expertise as professional spectators.
“Leo, if you don’t kneel down and apologize to me right now, you won’t leave this place alive!” Athena, disheveled and with a crazed look, threatened.
Leo was nearly amused by her words. This woman must have something wrong with her head to make such demands when she looked like this.
Upon hearing Athena’s words, Gilbert was petrified. He now understood the meaning of the phrase “a beautiful disaster.” This foolish woman had led him into a terrible situation, and he couldn’t believe he had fallen for her charms.
“Gilbert, weren’t you just saying you’d help me get rid of him? Now do something!” Athena, unable to intimidate Leo, had to resort to pulling Gilbert.
Remembering Leo’s recent feats, like defeating dozens of thugs he had hired at the alley, and successfully bidding 200 million dollars for the Cloud Dream Mountain villa, Gilbert realized that Leo was an opponent he couldn’t possibly handle.
Gilbert knew that if he didn’t offer Leo an explanation today, he might not leave this place standing.
After much inner turmoil, Gilbert shook off Athena’s hand and approached Leo with a gloomy expression.
Athena, thinking that Gilbert would take her side, crossed her arms and looked down on Leo disdainfully.
*Thump!*
But the moment Gilbert stood in front of Leo, he suddenly knelt down.
What the hell?
Why was he kneeling?
Everyone was bewildered.
Athena, the most shocked of all, couldn’t believe her eyes. Gilbert wasn’t supporting her against Leo; instead, he was kneeling before him. Did this guy’s brain turn to mush?
“Leo, I’m sorry. I should have never messed with you. Please forgive me. Everything that happened was this wicked woman’s fault,” Gilbert said sincerely, kneeling on the ground.
Athena, still trying to process the situation, angrily exclaimed, “Gilbert, are you out of your mind? He’s just an on-the-dole son-in-law from the Henley family. You’re kneeling and apologizing to him? I must have been blind to think you were even worth something!”
Gilbert turned his head, glared at Athena, and scolded, “You crazy woman, shut up. If you want to get yourself in trouble, don’t drag me down with you.”
Athena’s anger reached its boiling point, and she turned green with fury. In a fit of rage, she kicked Gilbert with her high-heeled shoe.
Due to the high heel, her kick landed with considerable force, causing Gilbert to roll on the ground in pain, emitting sounds akin to a wounded animal.
“You unreliable coward!” Athena spat at Gilbert while he lay writhing on the ground. She then pointed a trembling finger at Leo and threatened, “Leo, if you dare stay here, I’ll call someone to come and deal with you. If I don’t make you pay with your life, my name isn’t Athena!”
Leo, maintaining his composure, looked at Athena with an expression that said he was just here for the show. He calmly replied, “Sure, I’ll wait right here. Go ahead and call your reinforcements. I’d love to see how you plan to deal with me.”
Athena took out her phone and dialed a number.
After a short while, the call connected, and Athena spoke in a sweet and pitiful voice, “Godfather, it’s me, Athena.”
A deep, robust male voice came from the other end, “Athena, why are you calling me out of the blue? Is something wrong?”
“Godfather, I came to watch the Cloud Dream Mountain villa auction today, and I’m being bullied by a man outside. Can you please come and help me?” Athena pleaded in a pitiful tone.
“Who dares to bully my Athena? Don’t worry, Godfather will be right there!”
When Athena hung up, she put her phone away, adjusted her hair, and immediately changed her demeanor. She looked at Leo with disdain and said, “Useless trash, my godfather will arrive shortly. I can assure you, your fate is sealed today.”
“Of course, I can give you a chance. Kneel before me right now, and use your tongue to clean my shoes. After my godfather arrives, I might consider helping you plead for mercy.”
Athena’s haughty demeanor, in Leo’s eyes, was quite the spectacle. Surviving with such foolishness was nothing short of a miracle. Leo was also curious about what kind of person Athena’s godfather would turn out to be.
“You hear that? This woman just called her godfather for help. Any guesses on who her godfather, or her sugar daddy might be?”
“Her godfather’s identity doesn’t matter. What’s important is that she has multiple men and a godfather. It’s been a while since I’ve seen such a show.”
Athena, far from being ashamed by the surrounding gossip, took pride in it. She stood there, arms crossed and a haughty expression on her face, staring coldly at Leo.
In Athena’s mind, once her “godfather” arrived, Leo would be nothing more than a dead dog in her presence.
After patiently waiting for more than twenty minutes, Leo and the curious onlookers watched as a group of menacing-looking men approached.
When the crowd noticed the man at the front, they quickly made way for him.
“That guy leading the pack… looks like… Abraham Huggins, the behind-the-scenes boss of Royal Feast Palace. What’s he doing here?”
“You’re right, it’s Abraham. Could he be the so-called ‘godfather’ this woman is talking about? This is getting unbelievable.”
“This is going to be interesting. Abraham Huggins is leading the pack, and he’s known as a big shot in Langstel’s underworld. That son-in-law is in deep trouble. With Abraham’s influence, a mere snap of his fingers could easily take him down!”
