Chapter 310: Acquiring Villa No. 9

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Mr. Evans remained relatively calm. Leo’s sudden increase in bidding didn’t catch him off guard, but he hadn’t expected Leo to boldly push the price up to two hundred million. In reality, Cloud Dream Mountain Villa No. 9 was worth around 150 million, so 200 million was clearly excessive.
In his office, President Leacock couldn’t help but sneer when he heard the two-hundred-million bid. He thought, “This freeloading son-in-law is quite good at acting. 200 million, I hope you can show me the money. Otherwise, you won’t have a free meal for the rest of your life, and I’ll make sure you rot in jail!”
The figure of 200 million finally caught Gilbert and Athena’s attention. Gilbert stood up, and when he saw the silhouette of the person who had bid 200 million, he felt a sense of familiarity. This guy seemed to be…
Leo!
No, it couldn’t be Leo!
It was impossible for a freeloader to come up with 200 million! Gilbert tried to deceive and reassure himself, but there was a voice in his head telling him that it was Leo. Staring at that figure, Athena said resentfully, “He must have come into a fortune out of the blue. 200 million for Cloud Dream Mountain Villa No. 9 is absolutely insane.”
“Gilbert, do you think that idiot Leo will show up again? You know I’m not one to hold grudges; I usually settle scores on the spot,” Athena said, looking at Gilbert.
Gilbert’s inner turmoil was growing. He was starting to panic. Hearing Athena’s words, he cursed silently, “You’re the real idiot here. You just had to drag me into this, and it cost me a hundred thousand!”
“Athena, this auction isn’t worth it. Let’s go,” Gilbert said, feeling incredibly uncomfortable.
“The auction isn’t over yet. We’ll leave when it’s done,” Athena insisted. “I believe that Leo, that idiot, will show up again, and I want my revenge!”
Gilbert was close to losing his mind. If Leo did indeed bid 200 million and bought the villa, this would become his territory, and he would undoubtedly be humiliated. There was no time like the present to leave.
The host was thoroughly stunned by the 200 million bid. After a long pause, he asked Leo to confirm, “Um, sir, did you just… Did you just bid 200 million?”
Leo smirked and replied, “Yes, 200 million. Need me to repeat it?”
“No, no need to repeat,” the host said awkwardly.
Mr. Church, who was next to Leo, wore a stiff expression. He turned to Leo and warned, “Leo, let me remind you that every bid made at an auction is legally binding. If you can’t produce 200 million, get ready to spend some time in jail.”
“Mr. Church, it seems you’re quite unconvinced,” Leo said, narrowing his eyes. “No worries, you can keep raising the bid, and I’ll keep you company.”
Mr. Church’s budget for bidding was around 150 million. Naturally, he had no intention of competing with Leo over 200 million. He was a businessman, and in his eyes, buying Cloud Dream Mountain Villa No. 9 for 200 million was a foolish move. Only a fool would do such a thing!
This the Henley family’s son-in-law wasn’t just a fool; his brain seemed to be filled with nonsense. In addition, Mr. Church harbored a certain fear that this might be a trap set by Leo.
Now that the bidding had reached two billion, if Mr. Church raised the bid again, even by a small amount, and Leo didn’t respond, he will be stuck with a 200-million-dollar villa.
Leo, oh Leo, even though you think you’ve played a clever game, you’re just a small fry in my eyes.
Mr. Church stood up and sneered at Leo, “You’d better be able to produce 200 million. Otherwise, you won’t have a free meal provided by your wife for the rest of your life.”
With that, Mr. Church left the bidding area.
Seeing Mr. Church’s departure, the host had no choice but to pick up the microphone and announce the result, “In this auction for Cloud Dream Mountain Villa No. 9, congratulations to bidder number 2, who won it with a bid of 200 million. Please follow me to complete the necessary procedures.”
At this point, the much-talked-about auction for Cloud Dream Mountain Villa No. 9 finally came to an end.
However, the identity of the winning bidder remained a mystery. Some called him the Piano Man, some referred to him as the Mysterious Gentleman, and others simply called him the Masked Man.
In an office within the auction venue, President Leacock saw Leo being brought in and stood up from his boss’s chair. He said, “Mr. Bloomer, as per your request the other day, I’ve kept your identity confidential. Now that the auction is over, I want to see your 200 million.”
President Leacock was eager to find out if Leo indeed had 200 million. If, after all this commotion, Leo could only produce the 50 million he had shown earlier, President Leacock would not hesitate to take legal action against him.
Leo, however, smiled calmly and said, “Mr. Leacock, it’s just 200 million. I can transfer it to you right now.”
President Leacock was somewhat surprised because Leo didn’t seem to be joking. Could it be that he had underestimated Leo? Although Leo was married into the Henley family, he was also a deeply hidden billionaire?
But how could a billionaire end up as the Henley family’s son-in-law? It made no sense. Perhaps this guy had some psychological issues and enjoyed being dominated by the bride’s family?
President Leacock was filled with confusion, but as long as Leo could produce the money, nothing else mattered.
“Manager Arnold, bring the documents and get Mr. Bloomer to sign the contract. Then transfer the funds to the company’s account,” President Leacock instructed Manager Arnold.
Manager Arnold approached and handed the prepared documents to Leo. “Mr. Bloomer, these are the relevant contract documents. Please take a look. If everything is in order, please sign.”
Leo took the contract, quickly glanced through it, and then signed his name.
Seeing Leo’s unwavering signature, President Leacock and Manager Arnold were both somewhat dumbfounded. It implied that Leo did indeed have 200 million.
Leo took out his bank card from his wallet and handed it to Manager Arnold. Manager Arnold hesitated for a moment.
President Leacock coughed impatiently, “Manager Arnold, what are you waiting for?”
The final step was about to be taken, and President Leacock wanted to see if Leo’s card could really be charged with 200 million. If the card transaction failed, it would be like a slap in the face to Leo.
Manager Arnold quickly completed the transaction, and when the statement was successfully printed, both Manager Arnold and President Leacock were left in shock.
200 million… it had actually been transferred!
President Leacock’s expression went through a rapid transformation. Then, with great enthusiasm, he reached out to shake Leo’s hand.
However, Leo withdrew his hand and said coldly, “At the end of this month, I will come to take possession of the villa. Also, my identity remains confidential. If I find out that it was leaked by any of you, you will bear the consequences.”
With that, Leo turned and left.
