“Are you suggesting that someone wants to harm me?” Bob’s gaze sharpened.
Leo shook his head, “The target probably isn’t you. If the mastermind knows about our relationship, then Bevis’s target should be me.”
Although Leo couldn’t be sure, he had a strong intuition about it.
Bob looked puzzled.
Leo removed a silver needle from Bob’s body and then wrote a prescription on a piece of paper, handing it to him. “Follow this prescription for internal and external use, and within five days, you should recover. It’s late now; I have to go.”
Seeing Leo preparing to leave, Bob suddenly chuckled, “Leo, do you and your wife have anything going on?”
Leo raised an eyebrow, “What do you mean?”
“The hidden red flowers will eventually bloom. You know what I mean,” Bob smirked.
Leo rolled his eyes, “Seems like Bevis went easy on you!”
Leo opened the door and walked out.
Bob called out urgently, “Leo, hurry up. I’m waiting for your good news…”
Leo returned home at around 11 PM. Jessica hadn’t gone to sleep; she was lying on the living room sofa in her pajamas, watching a mindless soap opera. When she saw Leo come in, her expression immediately soured.
Leo pretended not to notice her and headed upstairs.
“Useless! Do you think I don’t exist? You’re coming home so late. Where have you been, messing around?” Jessica’s voice was sharp and piercing.
Leo continued to ignore her and went upstairs.
“You’re pretending to be deaf now, huh? Just because Sophia is protecting you, you think I won’t do anything to you? Sooner or later, I’ll kick you out!” Jessica shouted.
Leo turned around, looking at Jessica coldly, “Mom, have you finished scolding?”
“You useless piece of… dare to talk back to me! I’ll make you kneel on a durian for an hour before you’re allowed to sleep!” Jessica pointed at Leo, fuming.
Leo didn’t bother to respond to her and continued heading upstairs. To his surprise, Jessica suddenly appeared with a durian in her hand and grabbed Leo from behind, saying, “You think you can just ignore me? Since you didn’t listen to me, you won’t be going upstairs tonight unless you kneel on this durian.”
Jessica had a talent for throwing tantrums, and Leo didn’t want to argue with her, especially with Sophia resting in the bedroom. Leo took the durian from her hand and placed it on the floor.
With a triumphant look, Jessica stood with her hands on her hips and coldly said, “That’s right, kneel for an hour, and then I’ll allow you to go upstairs and sleep!”
Leo crouched down and then, with a swift motion of his right hand, split the durian in half barehanded.
“Crack!”
The durian, covered in spikes, was effortlessly split into two halves by Leo’s hand. A unique durian scent immediately filled the room.
Jessica’s eyes widened in disbelief. Leo had split a durian with his bare hand!
If this hand had struck a person’s head, what would have happened?
Leo stood up, ignoring Jessica’s stunned and incredulous expression, and went upstairs.
He entered the bedroom where Sophia was. The lights were still on.
“Why haven’t you slept? Staying up late on your phone isn’t good for your eyes,” Leo said gently.
“You didn’t come back; I couldn’t sleep,” Sophia put down her phone and looked at Leo. “Did my mom scold you again?”
“No, when I came back, Mom was watching TV in the living room. She asked me to peel a durian for her,” Leo smiled.
“Eating durian?” Sophia blinked. “It’s getting late; you should wash and go to bed.”
Leo nodded and walked into the bathroom.
The next day, after dropping Sophia off at work, Leo met with Scar.
“Where is he?” Leo asked, his tone icy.
“At the Purple Cloud Teahouse,” Scar replied.
“Take me there.”
The Purple Cloud Teahouse was quite well-known in Langstel. Many affluent people came here for brunch and dessert. Besides, the teahouse was known for its beautiful waitresses. Many rich second-generation young adults liked to come here not for the tea, but to meet girls.
Today, this place wouldn’t be peaceful.
Leo led Scar and his crew, boldly entering the teahouse. The charming hostesses were silenced by Scar’s intimidating presence as they rushed to get out of the way. Leo went straight to the third floor.
Outside a private room on the third floor, two bodyguards stood guard. Seeing Leo approach, they shouted, “Who are you? This isn’t where you should be. Get lost!”
Leo didn’t say a word. He used a kick to send both bodyguards flying.
The security staff inside the teahouse had witnessed Leo kicking Ford’s bodyguards, and for the moment, they were frozen, afraid to take action.
“Bang!”
Leo kicked open the wooden door to the private room.
Inside, there were seven or eight people, both men and women, engaging in activities that couldn’t be described here. Ford and Cherry were among them.
Leo’s sudden appearance silenced the room, and everyone’s gaze landed on him, their faces filled with shock.
Time seemed to stand still, with Cherry even holding a teacup in mid-air, frozen in place.
“Ford Gregory, didn’t expect to see you again,” Leo said, his mouth curling into a cold smile.
After a brief silence, a young man stood up, slammed the table, and pointed at Leo, shouting, “You bastard! How can you address Mr. Gregory’s name directly? You…”
Before the young man could finish his sentence, Scar’s men stormed into the room, and one of them struck him on the head with a steel pipe. The young man didn’t even have a chance to scream, collapsing to the ground lifelessly.
The women in the private room let out instinctive screams, especially Cherry, who instinctively moved closer to Ford, seeking some sense of security.
Seeing his companions about to charge, Ford waved his hand to stop them and said, “Leo Bloomer, you really have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. Last time, I spared you. But today, you dare to come here. Quite interesting.”
After a momentary shock, Ford quickly regained his composure. He casually picked up a cup of tea from the table and took a sip, maintaining an aura of control.
“Ford Gregory, I have just one question for you. Did you instruct Morgan Hewlett to target my wife?” Leo demanded.
“Correct, it was me,” Ford admitted nonchalantly. “You annoyed me that day, so I wanted to return the favor.”
“You can use any means against me, but going after a woman? Is that what you call being a man?” Leo stared Ford down.
