Leo was somewhat surprised that Madame Godwin would share such top-secret information with him.
“So, you’re saying that if a martial cultivator were to misuse their abilities to harm innocent people in the mortal world, WONDER would intervene?” Leo asked.
Madame Godwin nodded. “Yes, you’ve heard of martial cultivators?”
“I’ve heard of them.”
“You possess incredible abilities. You need to learn restraint and discretion. If you ever encounter WONDER operatives, do not confront them directly. The power of a national agency is something you cannot contend with,” Madame Godwin advised.
Leo chuckled, “Madame Godwin, are you concerned about me?”
“Consider it that way. You saved me and Sam, so I’m sharing this secret with you as a way of repaying the favor,” Madame Godwin said with seriousness.
“Don’t worry; I won’t provoke WONDER.”
After bidding farewell to Madame Godwin, Leo left the hospital. As he was about to exit the hospital gates, a white figure approached him.
It was Dr. Mond, the doctor from the emergency room. She apologized, “Sir, I apologize sincerely for my behavior in the emergency room earlier. I was wrong.”
Leo, feeling a bit of goodwill toward her for her change in attitude, waved it off. “Dr. Mond, there’s no need for that. You were just doing your job.”
“May I know your name, Master Healer?”
“I go by the name Bloomer.”
“Dr. Bloomer, I’m Julia Mond, the Chief Physician at the hospital. Can I have your phone number for future contact?” Dr. Mond asked earnestly.
Leo’s extraordinary ability to revive the near-dead with his miraculous acupuncture skills had left a profound impact on her today, almost reshaping her entire medical worldview. That’s why she felt it was essential to get to know Leo better.
Leo gave Dr. Mond his phone number and then took his leave. As he left the hospital, he was approached by a young man who quickly pulled out a spring-loaded knife from his pocket.
“If you don’t want to die, come with me!” the young man threatened Leo.
Leo chuckled, and instead of resisting, he followed the young man to a secluded area near the hospital.
The young man whistled, and five or six hidden men suddenly surrounded Leo.
The leader, a bald man with a rough demeanor, sized up Leo and asked, “You’re Leo Bloomer?”
“Yes, what’s the matter?” Leo replied calmly.
“It’s a small matter. We just want your leg and one hand,” the bald man smirked.
“Who sent you?”
“You don’t need to concern yourself with that. You just need to know you’ve offended the wrong people. Attack!” The bald man stepped back.
One man wielded a steel pipe and swung it at Leo’s shoulder.
Leo swiftly dodged, sidestepping the attack, and kicked the man, sending him flying and knocking down two others.
Leo continued his relentless assault, taking on the group like a wolf among sheep.
In just a minute, all of them were lying on the ground, nursing their injuries and groaning in pain.
Leo picked up a steel pipe and walked toward the bald man, who was now trembling in fear.
“Tell me, who sent you?” Leo squatted down in front of him.
“Morgan Christy, it was Morgan Christy!” The bald man, terrified, confessed.
Leo thought for a moment and then said coldly, “Take me to see him.”
The bald man’s pupils flashed with a barely noticeable glimmer of hope, and he quickly nodded. “I’ll take you to him.”
Half an hour later, Leo arrived with the bald man at a place called the “Flying Dragon Security Training Base.”
This location was at the foot of the Western Mountain, in the outskirts of the city, secluded and sparsely populated.
After getting out of the car, Leo noticed the barbed wire on the walls and the floodlights, making him feel like he had entered a prison. The Flying Dragon Security Company, ostensibly an organization providing security services, was involved in various shady activities like debt collection, loans, land disputes, and transportation.
In short, as long as you had the money, the Flying Dragon Security Company would take on almost any job.
Following the thug through a series of twists and turns inside the walled compound for about seven to eight minutes, they entered a small office building. As they reached the door of a room inside the building, the bald thug, with a smug expression, said, “Kid, you’ve walked right into hell when you had the choice to go to heaven. Today, you better pray to God that you leave here alive.”
Seemingly oblivious to the pain from his injuries, the thug pushed the door open. Inside, there was a small meeting room with over a dozen men and women seated around a conference table, apparently waiting for something. Among them were Morgan Christy and Clarissa.
Before bringing Leo here, the bald man had already informed Morgan.
Seeing Leo enter, Morgan’s expression turned resentful. He would have loved nothing more than to tear Leo to pieces and devour him!
“Didn’t expect to see each other again,” Morgan said, a smirk on his face. “I told you that day, if you cross me, you’ll suffer!”
Clarissa stood up from her seat and taunted, “Hey, you thought you were all that powerful at the hotel. You think a bit of martial arts makes you untouchable? Let me tell you, in Langstel, you’re nothing more than an ant!”
Clarissa blew a smoke ring in Leo’s face and continued, “Later, I’ll make sure you experience the taste of a fate worse than death.”
“Is everyone here?” Leo suddenly asked.
This question puzzled both Clarissa and Morgan, and then Morgan pounded the table. “Trey, give him a couple of slaps to wake him up.”
The man named Trey stood up, approached Leo, and swung his right hand to slap Leo across the face.
“Bang!”
It didn’t sound like a slap.
“Bang!”
It was more like something hitting the wall.
Trey slid off the wall outside the meeting room, like a pile of mud, unmoving.
“Damn, call all the security here. Let’s take care of this punk!” Morgan yelled at the bald man standing by the door.
The bald man hurriedly used the radio to call for backup.
Ten minutes later, Leo left the office building, exited the compound, and got in his car.
Starting the car, he drove away smoothly.
Inside the office building, the place was filled with groaning people, and the sound of their pain resembled the wails of ghosts from a graveyard.
Morgan and Clarissa were the worst off; both had their legs broken and could only crawl on the ground using their hands…
