Chapter 285: Must Treat the Wounds Immediately

“I need a car!” Leo said in a deep voice.
Lesley quickly opened the door of a nearby police car.
Leo placed Madame Godwin in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and then got into the driver’s seat, starting the car.
The police car’s engine roared like a sports car, and after making a U-turn, it raced up the mountain road and then sped downhill.
Half an hour later, Leo glanced at Madame Godwin in the passenger seat, his heart sinking.
There wasn’t much time left; he had to treat her immediately!
Leo made a right turn into a village and stopped the car outside a motel.
Opening the car door, Leo carried Madame Godwin and rushed into the motel.
It was already around nine o’clock in the evening, and the motel was located in a remote area. Besides a drowsy old man at the front desk, there was no one inside.
Leo shouted, “Hey, can you get me a room?”
The old man at the front desk was startled by Leo’s shout, and when he saw Leo carrying a woman covered in blood in a police uniform, his eyes widened in fear.
“Y-y-you…” The old man stammered in fear, unable to complete a coherent sentence.
“Sir, we’re police officers. The woman I’m carrying has been shot, and she needs immediate treatment. Please, give me a room,” Leo urgently pleaded.
Hearing that they were police officers, the old man quickly retrieved a key from a drawer and handed it to Leo. “Second floor, turn right, Room 201.”
Leo took the key and carried Madame Godwin up to the second floor.
He opened the room, gently laying Madame Godwin on the bed.
At this point, Madame Godwin had already lost consciousness. Her once lively face was now pale, marked with signs of pain.
“You’re quite a stubborn one, you know. You’re a leader, yet you took the lead in charging forward instead of staying back to command. You really have a death wish,” Leo sighed as he removed Madame Godwin’s bulletproof vest.
Looking at the dents and damage on the vest, Leo was taken aback. Master Moulton and Jonathan Mac had some serious firepower; their shots had severely damaged the police-issue bulletproof vest.
To treat Madame Godwin’s wounds, her police uniform had to come off.
If she wasn’t treated immediately, given her current condition, she wouldn’t make it through the night. After a brief moment of hesitation, Leo reached out to unbutton Madame Godwin’s uniform.
But just as he started unbuttoning it, Madame Godwin’s eyes fluttered open, and she slowly opened her eyes.
“Where am I?” Madame Godwin asked weakly as she glanced around.
“We’re in a motel,” Leo replied.
“I thought I was on the battlefield. Why am I in a motel?” Madame Godwin blinked in confusion, but then she realized something was amiss when she felt the state of her body. When she saw her bulletproof vest lying nearby, her expression changed abruptly.
“What are you doing!?” Madame Godwin, with all the strength she could muster, yelled in anger.
This guy had taken advantage of her while she was injured and unconscious; it was beyond shameless.
Seeing the anger on Madame Godwin’s face, Leo knew her thoughts had taken a wrong turn. It was quite amusing. “What else can I do right now, besides treating your injuries?”
“My injury? You’re not a doctor, why are you talking about treating injuries? And why are we in a motel instead of a hospital?” Madame Godwin fired off a series of questions, then coughed.
Leo grinned mischievously, “Who said I’m not a doctor? I’m a renowned Chinese traditional medicine practitioner. We don’t need to go to the hospital for treatment. Besides, don’t you find this motel quite atmospheric?”
“You… you rogue!” Madame Godwin’s face turned red with anger. She tried to sit up but immediately winced in pain as the movement aggravated her wounds.
Madame Godwin gave up on the idea of sitting up as the pain was too intense. She stared at Leo, her expression gradually calming.
Though she hadn’t interacted with Leo much, she knew he wasn’t the kind of person to take advantage of women. She found it strange, though; could he really heal her?
Thinking back to Leo’s miraculous abilities in dealing with the bank robbers, Madame Godwin considered that perhaps he could indeed provide medical treatment. With these thoughts in mind, she decided to give Leo’s healing a try.
But if Leo was just taking advantage of her, he was in for a big surprise!
“Madame Godwin, first, let me clarify that I’m a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner from Langstel. My fees are quite high, you know. But considering our acquaintance, I’ll charge you three million for this treatment,” Leo said with a grin.
“Three million!?” Madame Godwin’s mouth dropped open in surprise. “How is this any different from robbery? And can you even heal me? If not, take me to the hospital immediately!”
“Heh, of course I can heal you. As a senior traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, I assure you that you’ll be up and about in no time. But to begin the treatment, we’ll have to take off your clothes. I’ll continue now,” Leo said with a mischievous smile.
“I’ll do it myself!”
“I’ll undress myself!” Seeing Leo’s hands approaching, Madame Godwin began to feel a bit apprehensive.
“Alright, then go ahead,” Leo replied, raising his hands in a non-threatening gesture.
Due to her severe injuries, Madame Godwin couldn’t move much. Even the slightest motion caused her intense pain, making her gasp for breath.
Eventually, she gave up, her face blushing as she glared at Leo, demanding, “Help me, but be quick!”
“Absolutely,” Leo affirmed with an “OK” hand gesture, proceeding to remove Madame Godwin’s police uniform.
Madame Godwin closed her eyes, her expression a mix of shyness and anxiety.
In no time, Leo had stripped off her police uniform. From the pocket on the right side of the uniform, he retrieved a jade Buddhist amulet.
The amulet had broken into three pieces.
Evidently, this jade amulet had shielded Madame Godwin from the bullets.
“I never expected you to be superstitious. If it weren’t for this thing taking the bullet for you, I doubt I could have pulled you back from the brink of death,” Leo commented.
The bullets had first damaged the bulletproof vest and then shattered the amulet, allowing Madame Godwin to hold on until now.
It had to be said, this police woman had some remarkable luck.
As she opened her eyes and saw the shattered amulet in Leo’s hand, Madame Godwin suddenly thought of her mother.
This amulet had been given to Madame Godwin by her mother, who had obtained it from a temple, believing it would protect her.
Naturally, Madame Godwin didn’t believe in such things, but she couldn’t refuse her mother’s insistence, which had ultimately saved her life.
After removing the police uniform, Madame Godwin was left with only a white T-shirt on her body.
The T-shirt had turned crimson with bloodstains, a gruesome sight.
Seeing Madame Godwin’s embarrassed expression, Leo teased, “You’ll have to take off the T-shirt for proper treatment.”
“Hurry up!” Madame Godwin gritted her teeth.
