Leo raised an eyebrow and looked at the old man. “Are you from the Fiery Blaze Sect?”
This question momentarily surprised the old man, whose face had been calm and unruffled. However, he did not respond to Leo’s inquiry.
Jonathan Mac, standing behind the old man, had beads of sweat forming on his forehead. If it weren’t for Master Raymond’s timely intervention, Jonathan Mac knew he would likely be six feet under by now.
Feeling a sense of relief mixed with fear, Jonathan Mac quickly expressed his gratitude to the old man. “Thank you, Master Raymond, for saving my life.”
“Jonathan, have your men step back. You’re no match for him,” Master Raymond said with a hint of nervousness, instructing Jonathan Mac.
Jonathan Mac promptly signaled his subordinates to step back and not make any rash moves.
Although Master Raymond’s expression remained composed, Jonathan Mac could clearly see the hesitation in his eyes. This guy was terrifying, not only able to suspend bullets but also to redirect them back at the shooters. Wasn’t that something out of The Matrix?
Leo’s abilities had not escaped Master Moulton’s notice. He felt fortunate that he hadn’t taken any action against Leo earlier; otherwise, he might not even know how he’d die.
No wonder Leo had remained so composed when facing him.
As the standoff continued, Jonathan Mac hurriedly put on a conciliatory smile and said, “Sir, I was blind not to recognize your greatness. My apologies. I’ll make way for you.”
But Leo didn’t leave; instead, he kept his gaze fixed on Jonathan Mac and said with a hint of mockery, “I gave you a chance earlier, but now it’s too late to apologize.”
Jonathan Mac wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and spoke in a tone of appeasement, “Sir, whatever compensation you desire, I can give it to you.”
Jonathan Mac was genuinely afraid of upsetting Leo, especially after his hand inexplicably fell to the ground earlier.
Leo contemplated for a moment. He had a feeling that Jonathan Mac’s appearance had changed the situation. It seemed he needed a backup plan for firearms, just in case something happened to Master Moulton.
Leo channeled his spiritual power into his eyes and scanned the surrounding Land Rover vehicles.
“Well, since you’re willing to compensate me,” Leo said, extending his hand to point at one of the Land Rovers parked on the outskirts. This particular Land Rover was loaded with various types of firearms and plenty of ammunition.
Jonathan Mac hesitated for a moment, but under Master Raymond’s cold gaze, he quickly acquiesced. “Sir, the Land Rover is yours. Please take it and leave.”
Leo flashed a satisfied smile and turned to Roy. “You go drive the Land Rover. Curitis, Scar, let’s go!”
Roy eagerly responded and rushed toward the Land Rover.
Seeing Leo about to leave, Master Moulton hurriedly called out to him, “Mr. Bloomer, please stay. I beg you to help me. I’ll give your money back.”
Although Leo had just dispatched several of Jonathan Mac’s men, he knew that with the old man who was called Master Raymond around, he was still at a disadvantage. Reluctantly, Master Moulton had to seek Leo’s assistance.
However, Jonathan Mac couldn’t allow Master Moulton to get his way. He quickly lowered his posture and said, “Sir, this is a personal grudge between me and Master Moulton. I implore you not to interfere.”
After a moment’s thought, Leo decided that it was best to avoid unnecessary trouble. He replied, “You guys sort out your own affairs then.”
With that, Leo and his companions, Curitis and Scar, moved away, leaving behind the chaotic scene at the campsite.
Curitis was driving an Audi, Roy was driving the Land Rover, and they were all heading back the way they came. However, Leo knew he needed to assess the situation at the camp.
Before long, Leo noticed two helicopters circling above. They were heading towards the open camp area. Leo immediately ordered Curitis and Roy to hide their vehicles in the nearby forest.
As expected, a fleet of police cars, more than a dozen in number, arrived on the mountain road. They were filled with heavily armed detectives and special forces.
Their destination was undoubtedly the open camp area. It appeared that the police had been monitoring Master Moulton or Jonathan Mac for some time.
When the first police car passed by, Leo couldn’t help but squint. With his enhanced vision from his spiritual power, he recognized Madame Godwin sitting in the front passenger seat.
Leo furrowed his brow and had an idea. He turned to Curitis and Scar and said, “Scar, you and Roy go back to the city, find a place to hide the items from the car. Curitis, wait for me in the car. I’m going back to the camp to assess the situation.”
“Mr. Bloomer, let me go with you,” Curitis quickly offered.
“No need. Wait for me here,” Leo replied. He opened the car door and summoned a Gale Talisman to disappear into the darkness.
In a wooded area near the camp, Leo concealed himself among the bushes. Overhead, a voice came from one of the helicopters, “You are surrounded. Surrender is your only option. If you surrender, you will receive fair treatment.”
Then Leo heard the sound of machine gun fire from above. These hardened criminals weren’t likely to surrender easily and started firing wildly at the helicopters.
The armed helicopters ceased their attempts to negotiate and distanced themselves from the camp. They couldn’t risk returning fire in the presence of the police and potentially hurting their own people.
As the police gradually closed in on the camp, both Master Moulton and Jonathan Mac’s groups realized that their personal grudges were insignificant compared to the need for survival. They began to break out in different directions.
Personal grievances were put aside for the moment, and self-preservation became the top priority.
BOOM!
A massive explosion echoed through the area, and flames shot into the sky. The police were the first to engage with Master Moulton’s group.
After the explosion, gunshots rang out rapidly. These desperate fugitives were putting up a fierce fight.
Taking advantage of the remaining effects of the Gale Talisman, Leo sprinted toward the direction of the first police car.
Bullets had no mercy, and even with Leo’s current spiritual power as a lower-level Spirit Master, he was still vulnerable to bullets.
Within moments, Leo reached the rear of the first police car.
A policeman quickly noticed Leo, pointing his gun at him. Luckily, Leo was unarmed, or that detective would have opened fire.
“Who are you?” the policeman demanded sternly.
Leo was about to respond when a voice came from not far away, behind a nearby tree. “Don’t shoot; he’s not one of the criminals.”
As the voice finished speaking, a figure emerged from behind the tree and approached Leo, their gaze fixed on his face. “What are you doing here?”
“You know who I am?”Leo was curious. He had never seen this police officer before.
“Of course, you should recognize me,” the officer said half-jokingly. “I’m familiar with the infamous Henley family son-in-law, the one who handled two bank robbery cases. How could I not know you?”
