“Tens of millions…” The other party fell silent again, seemingly considering something.
Leo provoked, “Are you scared?”
“Scared?” Master Moulton scoffed, “I’ve taken this deal. If I find out you’re a cop, I’ll make you suffer.”
“Time? Location?” Leo asked casually.
“Give the phone to Toad, and I’ll have him take you,” Master Moulton replied in a deep voice.
Leo handed the phone to Toad, who nodded in response, saying, “Okay, Master Moulton.”
After hanging up, Toad looked at Leo and said, “Master Moulton’s location is a bit far from Langstel. He wants us to come right away. We should arrive by evening.”
Leo nodded and said, “Take us there.”
Under Toad’s guidance, the group got into a Toyota van. They deliberately circled around the city for a while to ensure they weren’t being followed before heading towards the outskirts of Langstel.
During the journey, Leo sent a message to Sophia, saying he had something to do in the evening and couldn’t pick her up after work.
After about three to four hours, the car finally reached its destination. The sun had completely set, and darkness had enveloped the land.
As they exited the vehicle, Leo noticed they were in a wooded area with lush vegetation. The ground was covered in thick layers of fallen leaves that rustled underfoot.
He checked his phone but found no signal, wondering how Toad had managed to reach Master Moulton by phone.
Looking ahead, they could vaguely see some light. Toad pointed in that direction and said, “Mr. Bloomer, Master Moulton is not far ahead. Follow me.”
The group followed Toad towards the source of light.
After passing through a stretch of woods, they entered a spacious clearing. In the middle of the clearing, a bonfire burned, roasting a goat on a spit. The scent of the meat wafted through the air.
Around the bonfire, there were more than twenty men dressed in military-style clothing. They held guns and wore various military gear. To an outsider, it might seem like there was some military operation taking place.
Aside from that, not far from the camp, several imposing Humvees were parked.
Beside the bonfire, there was a wooden recliner, and on it sat a man around forty or fifty years old, with graying hair. He had a serious demeanor and was holding a cigar in his hand.
Next to the recliner was an old-fashioned cassette tape recorder playing songs from the 70s and 80s. The man in the recliner had his legs crossed, squinting his eyes as he listened.
Toad hurried forward, wearing a respectful smile, and respectfully addressed him, “Master Moulton.”
Master Moulton slightly opened his eyes, glancing at Toad, and spoke in a deep voice, “Are they here?”
Toad could see the fierceness and hostility in Master Moulton’s eyes. He replied cautiously, “Master Moulton, they are here.”
Master Moulton straightened up a bit, fixed his gaze on Leo, and asked, “Did you make the phone call to me?”
“Are you Regan Moulton?” Leo asked, sizing up the man on the recliner.
Master Moulton’s face darkened, and he spoke in a slightly hoarse voice, “Kid, you’re the first person who dares to address me by my name.”
“I don’t want to waste time. Show me the merchandise,” Leo said calmly.
Master Moulton raised an eyebrow and asked, “Where’s the money?”
Leo took out a check from his pocket and handed it over. “This is a ten million cash check. You can cash it at any Fortune Bank branch.”
Master Moulton’s eyes fell on the check in Leo’s hand and slowly said, “I need to verify the authenticity of the check.”
“No problem.” Leo said and handed Toad the check.
Toad again handed the cheque to Master Moulton with both hands respectfully.
Master Moulton gave the check to a man next to him and said, “Check this check for authenticity.”
“Yes, Master Moulton.” The man took the check and turned and walked back to the Humvee.
“Can I see the goods now?” Leo looked at Master Moulton with indifference.
Master Moulton, with a sinister curl of his mouth, sneered: “Boy, you dare to come here, I admire your courage.” Aren’t you afraid I’ll take your money and kill you?”
Leo smiled fearlessly, “If you want my money and life, are you sure you have the ability?”
“Well, I’ll show you if I can do it.” Master Moulton flicked his right hand.
A series of clicks, more than 20 men at the same time raised the gun loaded.
Scar gulped as he looked at the dark muzzle. Curitis and Roy were much more calm, and only stared at Master Moulton.
“Boy, one gesture from me now and you’ll all turn into a hornet’s nest.” Master Moulton rose from his chair with a fierce light in his eyes.
Leo remained unfazed, even with the guns pointed at him. He walked over to the bonfire, grabbed a piece of roasted goat, and started eating nonchalantly.
The only sounds in the air were the crackling of the meat as its oil dripped down and the sound of Leo chewing.
In the eerie silence, the only sounds were the sizzling of the meat dripping onto the fire and Leo’s occasional chewing.
Master Moulton, who had seen all sorts of people, couldn’t figure out where this young man got his courage.
Master Moulton, a man who had seen it all, couldn’t understand where this young man’s courage came from. Such unwavering composure was not something ordinary people possessed.
Leo, while calmly chewing the meat, commented, “This goat meat is quite tender. It would taste even better with some cumin. I don’t like it when people point guns at me. If I finish eating this piece of meat and still don’t see the goods or if someone continues to point a gun at me, I’ll kill you.”
At this moment, even someone as hardened as Master Moulton had to admit that he couldn’t read Leo’s depth. He couldn’t fathom where this young man’s courage and confidence came from.
“Master Moulton, the check has been verified. It’s genuine,” the man who had checked the check reported, breaking the silence.
Master Moulton took the check and confirmed its authenticity, then gestured for his men to lower their guns.
Master Moulton forced a smile and said to Leo, “Kid, I was just playing around earlier. For proplr like us, credit is everything. Show them the goods!”
Although Master Moulton couldn’t fully gauge Leo’s intentions, he couldn’t pass up an opportunity to make money when it was handed to him.
Several men then brought over three large wooden crates.
“Open them all!” Master Moulton ordered.
The crates were opened one by one, revealing an assortment of weapons.
“Curitis, Roy, go take a look,” Leo instructed. The reason he had brought Curitis and Roy was because they were both former special forces with extensive knowledge of various weapons.
