Chapter 254: Kneel Down and Apologize

“I’ve lived for so long, and this is the first time I’ve heard someone dare to threaten my whole family. Quite the bold move!” A cold and domineering voice echoed from outside the restaurant.
Everyone turned their heads toward the voice and saw an elderly man, exuding an extraordinary air, walking in with a few people surrounding him.
It was none other than Godfery Dan, the chairman of the Wealth Gathering Group, the same man Leo had treated for his illness.
Bob hurriedly walked over and greeted Godfery politely, “Mr. Dan.”
Godfery’s appearance sent Ford’s complexion into turmoil. Godfery was not only the chairman of the Wealth Gathering Group but also had connections with martial arts sects. Rumor had it that the martial arts sect behind the Wealth Gathering Group was even more formidable than the one behind this own family. Furthermore, it was said that Godfery had hired a group of mercenaries to ensure the smooth transportation of his antiques.
Ford couldn’t afford to provoke such a figure.
“Mr. Dan…” Ford’s voice trembled as he looked at Godfery.
Godfery fixed his old eyes on him, “Ford, did you just say you wanted to kill my whole family? It seems I should give your father a call to see what he thinks about that.”
“Mr. Dan, I’m sorry, I misspoke. I apologize to you,” Ford’s arrogance had vanished, and he quickly bowed and apologized to Godfery.
Godfery turned his gaze to Leo and said indifferently to Ford, “Apologizing to me won’t be enough. You need to kneel down and apologize to Mr. Bloomer.”
The situation had taken a bizarre turn, leaving Cherry baffled. In her impression, Leo was nothing more than a freeloader who had married himself into a successful family. How had he garnered support from the likes of Godfery Dan, a heavyweight in the antique world? It just didn’t add up!
“I…,” Ford’s face turned extremely awkward, not knowing what to do.
*Smack!*
Godfery slapped him across the face.
“Mr. Dan, this is really just a misunderstanding!”
*Smack!*
Another slap.
The situation had taken a strange turn. Ford, who had been so arrogant just moments ago, was now being slapped around as if it were nothing.
“Mr. Dan, please consider my father…”
*Smack!*
A third slap landed on Ford’s face, leaving it swollen.
Ford had a sinking feeling. The scales were tipping against him. He realized that if he didn’t apologize now, he might not leave the restaurant in one piece.
With a heavy heart, Ford reluctantly knelt before Leo. “Mr. Bloomer, I’m sorry, I know I was wrong.”
Apologies bubbling within, Ford harbored deep resentment against Leo. He was determined to recover this debt with interest.
Leo brushed off some spilled alcohol from his clothing and then patted Ford’s face.
“Do you have memory issues?” Leo said. “I just told you, kneel down and apologize, and compensate with one million!”
“Leo, you’re going too far!” Ford’s pride had been severely wounded, and he couldn’t contain his anger.
*Smack!*
Leo’s hand swung, knocking Ford to the ground. “Sorry, I’m just that way.”
“Damn you…”
Before Ford could finish his profanity, Leo kicked him in the abdomen, leaving Ford gasping for breath. His three bodyguards couldn’t stand idly by, wanting to intervene, but Godfery’s people kept them at bay.
Leo placed one foot on Ford’s face, and Cherry watched in disbelief. Ford, determined not to be oppressed, forcefully pushed Leo’s right foot aside and shouted, “Leo, you will pay for what you have done today! I’m not a pushover you can simply crush!”
Leo crouched down, and another slap landed on Ford’s face. “In my eyes, you’re just a pushover!”
Ford’s body endured continuous torment, and he was on the verge of tears. “Leo, what exactly do you want?”
“Didn’t I already say it?” Leo responded calmly. “Kneel down and apologize to me, then compensate for my emotional distress with one million.”
Ford pondered as he looked at Godfery and Bob standing behind Leo. He thought Leo was just a dog with a powerful master.
He wished he could just shoot Leo right now, but he couldn’t. His own men were outnumbered, and he had noticed that Godfery’s people were armed. Besides, if he made a move against Godfery, it might bring disaster upon his entire family.
After weighing his options, Ford reluctantly climbed to his feet and then knelt in front of Leo. “Mr. Bloomer, I’m sorry, I realize my mistake.”
After apologizing and getting back on his feet, Ford took out a check from his pocket and handed it to Leo. “This is a million dollars, please accept it. You’re a big shot; don’t stoop down to my level. Spare me this time.”
Ford was seething with resentment. He intended to settle this score with Leo and get back every cent, with interest, at a later date.
Leo accepted the check and nodded in satisfaction. “That’ll do.”
Bob, who had been observing silently, sneered, “Ford, if you had done this earlier, you wouldn’t have taken such a beating. But congratulations, you’ve managed to save your life today.”
Bob knew Leo’s power all too well. Even without he and Godfery’s involvement, Leo could easily handle him. But Ford simply felt that luck had abandoned him with Bob and Godfery showing up, or he could easily take down Leo.
After giving Leo a resentful glance, Ford left with his entourage. Cherry, naturally, didn’t dare to stay behind and followed Ford out. Just before leaving, she couldn’t resist turning her head to give Leo one more look.
The restaurant returned to its usual calm, and the staff, who had been watching the drama, continued with their work.
“Leo, I know a bit about that guy, Ford. He holds grudges, and he definitely won’t let this go easily. Do you need any help?” Bob asked, making a throat-slitting gesture.
Leo replied calmly, “No need. If he dares to make a move, I’ll make sure he pays in blood.”
The present-day Leo was not someone anyone could easily bully. In Leo’s eyes, Ford was no more than an ant.
“Alright, if you ever need assistance, just give me a heads-up. I’d do everything for you,” Bob said. Leo had saved Bob’s wife, and he was willing to repay that debt even with his life.
Observing Leo and Bob’s seemingly special relationship, Godfery’s experienced eyes held a hint of curiosity. It appeared that this Leo, the “miracle doctor,” possessed extraordinary medical skills and formidable strength. Otherwise, someone like Bob wouldn’t open up to him so readily.
After Bob left, Leo expressed his gratitude to Godfery, saying, “Mr. Dan, thank you very much.”
Godfery smiled and replied, “Leo, don’t mention it. You saved my life, and this favor is insignificant. Besides, even if I hadn’t shown up, dealing with someone like Ford would have been a piece of cake for you.”
