Arlene interjected, “Leo, you should thank me. When those guys had guns pointed at you, it was my throwing knives that saved you.”
“Miss Dan, thank you,” Leo smiled and asked with curiosity, “How did you all end up here?”
Arlene proudly puffed out her chest, “This restaurant? It’s mine. When the manager here sent me a photo of the situation and saw you and Ford getting into a conflict, I brought Grandpa over.”
Leo nodded in understanding and then turned to Godfery, “Mr. Dan, how do you feel after the removal of the curse parasite in your body? Any discomfort?”
“Leo, the little miracle doctor. Thanks to your help and the medicine you prescribed, I feel even better now than before the parasite infection,” Godfery seemed pleased. “Even my old rheumatism is gone.”
Leo activated his spiritual power and briefly examined Godfery’s body, then said, “Mr. Dan, your blood pressure is slightly elevated, and you have some signs of throat inflammation. There’s also excessive stomach heat causing occasional discomfort.”
Godfery looked surprised, “Leo, you didn’t even check my pulse. How did you know?”
“I could tell from your complexion,” Leo casually explained. “But these are minor issues. I’ll write you a prescription later, and a week of medication should solve it. By the way, Mr. Dan, is there something bothering you? Given your physical condition, you shouldn’t be experiencing these problems.”
Indeed, Godfery had something on his mind, and since Leo asked, he decided to be truthful, “Leo, there is something I need your help with. I want to take you to a place. Is that okay?”
“Sure,” Leo agreed, letting Curitis go back to Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company by himself.
“Thank you for this,” Godfery said with a bow, and Leo quickly reached out to help him up.
They left the restaurant together and approached a Lincoln car parked on the roadside. Two men and a woman stood by the Lincoln. The woman was dressed in a black bodysuit, and upon seeing Godfery, Arlene, and a stranger approaching, she came forward.
Godfery pointed to the woman and introduced her, “Leo, this is Arlene’s senior, Miss Rosemary. They’ve learnt martial arts together.”
“Hello, I’m Leo Bloomer,” Leo smiled and extended his right hand.
Arlene chimed in, “Leo, my third senior sister is quite skilled in martial arts and good at fighting.”
Leo had already scrutinized her and knew that this woman named Rosemary wasn’t a martial artist.
Continuing, Godfery said, “Rosemary, Leo has miraculous medical skills. If you ever feel unwell, you can consult him.”
“Is he a doctor?” Rosemary cast a skeptical look at Leo. “Mr. Dan, this doctor seems quite young, doesn’t he?”
Godfery gave a wry smile and explained, “The ailment I had was cured by Dr. Bloomer.”
Knowing that Godfery wouldn’t joke about this, Rosemary looked Leo up and down, still puzzled, “For today’s situation, having a doctor doesn’t seem to serve any purpose, does it?”
Godfery smiled, “In case of any unexpected circumstances, having Leo, the miracle doctor, with us gives us peace of mind.”
Leo didn’t understand their conversation entirely but didn’t press further.
“Mr. Dan, with me and my two juniors here, we should be enough. Today shouldn’t be dangerous. I think it’s better for him to leave,” Rosemary still didn’t want Leo to accompany them.
Arlene held Rosemary’s hand and said, “Rosemary, just let Leo stay with us.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Rosemary agreed, “Alright, it’s almost time. Let’s go.”
In the car, Rosemary gave Leo another instruction, “Just stay quiet later, no matter what happens. Don’t act rashly, understand?”
Leo remained silent but nodded.
After about ten minutes, the Lincoln car entered an underground parking lot. The group then exited the car and entered an elevator. Rosemary pressed the button for the sixteenth floor.
When the elevator doors opened, Leo keenly sensed a dangerous aura. There was no one in the corridor, but at the far end, there was a statue, a headless statue holding a large knife.
After they passed through the corridor and turned right, they entered a spacious and brightly lit hall. In the hall, there was a large conference table, and around it sat a dozen men and women.
At the head of the table was a woman dressed in a black business suit with high heels, black stockings, short bobbed hair, earrings, and an air of charming allure.
At first glance, this scene appeared to be a business meeting.
Upon seeing Godfery and the others enter, the woman stood up. Her eyes squinted slightly, and she had long eyelashes, giving off a peculiar feeling.
It was like a fox was staring at you.
“Mr. Dan, welcome!” the woman in the black suit smiled at Godfery.
Her smile was very attractive, and Leo couldn’t help but glance at her.
Godfery’s gaze turned icy, “Black Vixen, I didn’t expect it to be you! My shipment was withheld, and you owe me an explanation!”
The woman, called Black Vixen, approached Godfery, and her smile grew more dangerous, “Mr. Dan, the ship carrying your precious jade stones is now in my hands. Your steward has also found his way to the sea, and the people on the ship now belong to me.”
She crossed her arms and adopted a tone that brooked no doubt, “Starting today, I am a partner of your company. To prove my sincerity in working together, I will return your goods to you, and I’ll also cover half of the shipping costs for you.”
Godfery, however, wasn’t buying into her act. He sneered, “You killed Rory Lew, hijacked my cargo ship, and you want to cooperate with me? That’s just wishful thinking!”
“Rory Lew jumped into the sea on his own. I didn’t kill him, and I don’t know if he’s alive or dead. Furthermore, to dispel any doubts you may have about my sincerity, I’ve prepared a little gift for you.”
After saying this, the woman clapped her hands.
Several men sitting by the conference table immediately stood up and placed four boxes on the table.
They opened the boxes, revealing four items: a piece of jadeite, a gold Buddhist statue, a wild ginseng, and a porcelain bowl.
Seeing these four items, Leo was surprised. This woman was indeed wealthy.
The woman pointed to each of the four items and explained, “This is a three-kilogram ice-type jadeite, the thousand-year-old gold body tribute Buddha statue, a thousand-year-old wild ginseng, and this one, a Tang Dynasty tri-colored porcelain bowl. Mr. Dan, are you satisfied with these gifts?”
