Chapter 218: Kneeling to Send You Away

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

“What’s going on?” Leo glanced at the row of people inside the room.
Scar’s voice was low as he said, “They disturbed your wife’s dinner.”
“And what should you do about it?” Leo asked casually.
Scar didn’t reply; instead, he casually grabbed a wine bottle from the table and smashed it down onto Stan’s head.
“Bang!” Stan was instantly dazed, his body swaying as blood began to trickle from his forehead.
Stan, touching the blood on his forehead, was terrified. “Scar, why did you hit me?”
“I hit you because Mr. Bloomer’s woman was harassed by you, right?” Scar pointed to the other four men. “You guys, if you want to join me, then beat him up, beat him hard!”
With a more powerful boss to follow, who wouldn’t want that? The four of Stan’s henchmen exchanged glances, then began to punch and kick Stan without a word.
Stan cried out in pain and pleaded for mercy.
In the meantime, back in Room 5, they had been waiting for Leo for a long time, and Jessica was growing anxious.
“Sweetie, I’ve told you before, Leo is useless. Look, it’s been so long, and he still hasn’t shown up. He’s probably too scared to come. We can’t rely on him!” Jessica tried to console her daughter once again.
At some point, Barry, who had just emerged from the shadows of being beaten, chimed in shamelessly. “I told you, a useless guy like Leo won’t be able to help us. When that man returns, we’ll be in big trouble.”
Looking at her bruised son, Keith shouted, “Jessica, you brought us here, and my son has been beaten like this. You need to figure something out. I’m taking him to the hospital for an examination!”
Monica, standing beside Keith, made an effort to keep herself calm. She couldn’t afford to ruin things before they had secured the money. She spoke in a gentle tone, “Jessica, you’re right. Leo, that son-in-law of the your family, probably won’t be of any help, as you said. You’re also a part of the Henley family now. How about you call the person in charge of the Henley family and ask for their help?”
Jessica, having no other options, turned to Martin and instructed him, “Martin, please call your mother.”
Martin sighed, pulled out his phone, and said, “Alright, I’ll call her.”
Before he could dial Teresa’s number, the door to the private room swung open.
The people inside thought it was Stan returning, and their faces tensed up. Barry, who was a mama’s boy, quickly hid behind his mother.
However, to their surprise, it wasn’t the menacing Stan who entered; it was Leo.
As soon as Sophia saw Leo, her gaze softened. She knew Leo would come. At some point, she had started to subconsciously rely on him.
“Sophia, let’s go home,” Leo said, looking at her with a soft voice.
Sophia nodded and walked over to Leo.
Seeing Leo, Barry quickly stepped out from behind Monica, pointed at Leo, and shouted, “Leo, let me tell you the truth. There are thugs waiting outside. You might have gotten in, but you won’t be able to leave today!”
Leo couldn’t be bothered to respond to him and instead turned to Jessica and Martin, saying, “Mom, Dad, if you’re done with your meal, let’s go.”
Jessica and Martin exchanged glances, their hearts filled with doubts.
Weren’t there two men waiting outside? How did Leo get in?
And what about that menacing man? He wouldn’t let Sophia go so easily. How would they manage to leave?
Seeing that no one moved, Leo had no choice but to take Sophia’s hand and walk out of the private room.
Only after Leo had walked out did the five people inside follow with anxious hearts.
In the hallway outside the private room, Stan and his four subordinates were all kneeling on the ground.
The scene resembled a group of people kneeling to send off the diners after their meal.
It was truly bizarre!
Keith and his family were completely dumbfounded. The guys who had been arrogant and overbearing just moments ago were now kneeling to them. If Barry hadn’t been beaten, they would have thought they were on a movie set.
Sophia curiously asked Leo in a low voice, “Leo, what’s going on?”
“Nothing happened,” Leo replied playfully.
“Why are they kneeling to us, then?” Sophia didn’t buy Leo’s nonsense.
Leo shrugged at Sophia, wearing a carefree expression. “Well, I guess it’s some unique custom of this five-star hotel.”
Sophia naturally didn’t believe Leo’s nonsense. “Where would there be such a custom?” Sophia retorted, not buying Leo’s explanation. She couldn’t believe there was such a bizarre tradition, especially considering the blood on the leader’s face. It was obvious he had been severely beaten.
Leo walked up to Stan and casually asked, “Hey, is it a unique custom in this place for people to kneel when they leave?”
Stan didn’t dare to lift his head and replied cautiously, “Yes, it’s a custom. Every diner who finishes their meal, we have to kneel and send them off.”
Leo raised an eyebrow at Sophia. “You see, I told you it’s a local custom. They just confirmed it.”
Seeing Leo’s playful expression, Sophia understood. Leo must have hired that scar-faced guy to help, or else these men wouldn’t be acting like this.
As they walked out of the hotel, Monica said to Jessica, “Sweetie, Barry has some injuries. Keith and I will take him to the hospital for a checkup. We won’t come to your place today. Please take care of the money for us. We’ll come by tomorrow.”
After Monica finished speaking, she signaled Keith, and the three of them hailed a taxi and left.
In the back seat of the taxi, Monica asked Barry, “Son, how are you feeling now? Do you need to go to the hospital for a checkup? If you don’t want to, we won’t go. We won’t waste the money.”
Barry moved his body a bit. Although he was in pain, it was only surface wounds, not something that required a hospital visit.
“Mom, no need to go to the hospital. Just get some medicine to apply. Do you think Auntie will lend us the money?” Barry was still a bit worried.
Keith chimed in, “I know your aunt. If she says she’ll lend it, she won’t go back on her word. We just have to wait.”
“Dad, Mom, I’m afraid things might change. Did you see those thugs who bullied us earlier? I suspect Leo hired some muscle to teach them a lesson. Those guys are no good, and they won’t let Leo off the hook. When that happens, the whole Henley family might suffer!” Barry concluded his thoughts.
Monica looked at her son with admiration. Barry had become quite good at objectively analyzing situations. He had grown up.
“Dad, Mom, I think we must get Auntie to lend us the money tomorrow. Once we have the money, we should leave to prevent any unforeseen circumstances,” Barry decided firmly.
