Philip sneered, “If I were to encounter such a pathetic man, I’d kick him to death.”
Suddenly, Bruno realized, “Philip, when you asked me that question earlier…”
A shrewd idea struck Bruno. Being a man himself, he understood Philip’s hidden intention.
If Philip had an affair with Sophia and spread the news, Sophia would never be able to stand firm in the Henley family. Given their traditional grandmother, she would likely drive Sophia out of the family!
With a change in expression, Philip revealed a lecherous grin, “Do I really need to spell it out for you?”
Bruno smirked, “Philip, I see what you mean now. I can help you with this matter. And after it’s done, can we negotiate the reward?”
“Reward is a million dollars, plus Sophia,” Philip stated firmly, showing little interest in haggling.
“Alright, as long as you can disrupt the import channels of Sophia’s cosmetics company, one million it is!” Bruno clenched his teeth to deliver a fatal blow to Sophia.
Philip lifted a glass from the coffee table, “Deal.”
After leaving the anonymous traditional Chinese medicine clinic, Leo went to a tea house named “Serene Abode.”
Renee had mentioned introducing someone who could potentially help him with his medical clinic.
At the Serene Abode, Leo was led to a secluded poolside private room.
Upon entering, he found three people: Renee, a tea master, and a middle-aged man.
Spotting Leo, Renee stood up, “Here he is. Director Lynd, this is Leo Bloomer I told you about. He has acquired Dr. Davy’s clinic.”
Eric Lynd put down his teacup and stood up politely, extending his right hand to Leo, “Hello, I’m Eric Lynd.”
A simple introduction.
As an owner of a medical clinic, Leo had naturally done some research on relevant government departments. Upon hearing the name, he recognized Eric Lynd as the head of the local Health Department. No wonder Renee introduced him.
Shaking hands, Leo’s face suddenly changed, and he observed Eric Lynd closely.
Releasing his hand, Director Lynd resumed his seat with an expression of mild disdain. To him, this young man was too inexperienced. Renee said he was a traditional Chinese doctor, which was probably munreliable.
Director Lynd couldn’t help but doubt Leo’s medical skills, but he didn’t want to offend Renee, who had invited him. He concealed his skepticism.
A tea master poured tea for Leo, and Renee explained, “Leo, Director Lynd is a dear friend of mine. He’s been having some health issues recently. That’s why I called you here, to see if you can help.”
During their handshake, Leo had detected something off with Director Lynd’s health. Nodding, Leo asked him, “Director Lynd, may I take your left hand and diagnose your condition?”
Although Director Lynd doubted Leo’s medical expertise, he couldn’t snub a friend’s request. He extended his left hand.
Leo gently placed his hand on Director Lynd’s wrist.
After a brief moment, Leo’s expression changed again.
Now Leo was sure – Director Lynd was afflicted by negative energy.
Utilizing spiritual power, Leo focused his gaze on Eric Lynd.
A faint layer of black energy covered Eric Lynd’s body, except for his head. The energy completely enveloped him, emanating strongest from his right trouser pocket – where he kept his BMW car key.
The relentless surge of negative energy came from that key.
“Director Lynd, your ailments are caused by negative energy. In other words, you’re cursed,” Leo affirmed, retracting his hand.
Hearing this, Director Lynd’s expression turned sour.
This young man examining his condition and pinpointing the disease would have garnered some respect, but saying he was cursed?
Renee had previously mentioned that he knew traditional Chinese medicine. How did he suddenly become a fortune teller?
“Director Lynd, if I’m not mistaken, have you been experiencing a string of bad luck lately, various unexplained physical ailments, and even some strange issues with your family members’ health?” Leo continued.
Director Lynd’s inner disdain flared up. It was that same old trickster talk again.
Director Lynd locked eyes with Leo and said in a stern tone, “Since you claim I’ve been affected by some curse, kindly enlighten me – where do you propose this curse energy comes from?”
Director Lynd was genuinely curious to see how this young fellow would try to deceive him.
Leo pointed at the pocket of Director Lynd’s pants. “Right there in your pocket.”
Director Lynd reached into his pocket, retrieved his car key, and dropped it onto the table. With a sarcastic smile, he retorted, “So you’re saying there’s curse energy on my car key?”
“Exactly,” Leo nodded.
This time, Director Lynd’s face turned rather dark.
This guy’s skill at fooling people was pitifully low. If Leo had claimed the curse energy came from some ancient tomb treasure, Director Lynd might have given it a second thought. But now, Leo was asserting that his recently purchased car’s key was imbued with curse energy.
This was beyond ridiculous.
According to Leo’s logic, the curse energy on the key was causing his health problems. He was implying that the key was making him sick.
Two words for this logic – utter nonsense.
Even Renee was starting to get baffled. She had invited Leo over to introduce him to Director Lynd and maybe give a medical opinion and establish connections. But now the whole thing seemed to have turned into a fortune-telling session. Had Leo mixed up the scripts?
Renee picked up the car key from the table, examining it closely. There was absolutely no indication of anything unusual.
Leo continued, “The curse energy is attached to your car key, and the source of that energy should be your car.”
As these words reached Director Lynd’s ears, they sounded almost like a curse. His BMW was a new purchase, just a month old.
Director Lynd shot a displeased glance at Renee and asked in a frustrated tone, “Renee, is your friend mentally stable?”
Renee felt a bit embarrassed, intending to ease the tension. But Leo swiftly followed up with another question for Director Lynd, “Director Lynd, have you ever driven to a cemetery or any eerie, spooky places?”
Director Lynd shook his head decisively. “No, why would I go to such places?”
Leo’s face took on a contemplative expression. Then he asked, “Director Lynd, may I have a look at your car?”
Putting on quite the act!
