Leo chuckled as he accepted the cigarette, “Scar, it seems like your business is doing well lately.”
“Ah, not really. Just small deals,” Scar replied, lighting up the cigarette.
“Scar, I heard you were planning to come and wreck my clinic?” Leo asked with a grin.
“Impossible, I heard Mr. Bloomer’s clinic is undergoing renovations, so I came to see if I could help,” Scar’s hands trembled a bit as he lit the cigarette.
Harold noticed something was off and hurriedly said, “Scar, what are you doing? It’s this clinic. Get to work!”
“Forget about it. Do I know you?” Scar turned angrily and then looked at Leo, “Mr. Bloomer, are these people causing trouble at the clinic? Do you need me to kick them out?”
Leo shook his head, “There’s no need for you to take any action. So, you came here to help, you say?”
“Yes, if there’s anything you need help with, just give the word, Mr. Bloomer. My guys might not be good for much else, but they’ve got strength,” Scar explained.
Scar was well aware that the seemingly harmless young man before him could easily overpower him and his crew if things turned ugly.
Leo patted Scar’s shoulder, “Scar, you’re right on time. I wanted to deepen the fish pond in the backyard. Since you brought so many guys with you today, how about helping me dig the pond? I just need it about a meter deep. Also, I’ll arrange for someone to redesign the pond. I hope that next time I come, I’ll see a beautiful pond. Is that alright?”
Hearing this, Scar felt quite put out, but he managed to force a smile, “No problem, Mr. Bloomer. You can count on me to make it beautiful. Guys, let’s go to the backyard and dig the pond!”
Under Scar’s guidance, the group rushed into the backyard.
As they arrived in the backyard, Scar realized they didn’t have any tools and quickly instructed two of his guys to go buy some.
Shirley and her group remained utterly dumbfounded.
They couldn’t fathom how Scar, a well-known figure, was acting so subservient in front of the owner of the clinic.
What was that saying on the street again?
Right, “I’m Scar on the streets, fierce and few words!”
What a joke! Where was the fierceness? He was just a docile little lamb!
Leo nudged Harold, whose expression still remained stunned, “Weren’t you guys here to wreck my clinic? Go on, bring more people.”
Even if Harold was slow, he now understood that the young man before him was untouchable. He swallowed down his anger and turned to Shirley.
With Scar present, Shirley dared not cause trouble. She snorted, “Let’s go.”
The four of them turned to leave.
“Who said you could leave?” Leo’s voice sounded coldly behind them.
They stopped in their tracks.
Leo continued, “This isn’t a marketplace where you can come and go as you please.”
Shirley turned around, her gaze dark as she looked at Leo, “What do you want?”
“Shouldn’t you apologize to me?” Leo’s gaze pierced into Shirley like a blade.
Shirley’s heart skipped inexplicably, and she grew nervous.
“You better not go too far. Do you know who we are?” Shirley pretended to be tough.
“I don’t know, and I don’t want to know. If you want to leave, apologize sincerely!”
“Ridiculous! Don’t pay attention to him, let’s go!”
In Shirley’s view, if she wanted to leave, he had no way to stop her and Scar wouldn’t dare touch her.
Just as Shirley turned, she found Leo blocking the door.
“Harold, deal with him!” Shirley said urgently, her plans thrown to the wind.
Harold and the other two men lunged at Leo.
In three consecutive screams, the men were thrown out of the clinic and crashed hard onto a Toyota minivan.
Shirley felt her legs trembling. This man had tossed Harold and the others out like sandbags. He was incredibly powerful!
“Now, can you apologize?” Leo stared down Shirley.
Faced with overwhelming strength, Shirley gave in.
In a luxurious private room of an upscale club:
Bruno had a woman on each arm while sitting on a sofa, opposite a middle-aged man with a buzz cut and a pair of sinister eyes.
Bruno touched a certain part of the woman and said to the middle-aged man, “Philip, do you really need to think about this for so long?”
The middle-aged man, Philip Bethune, was a prominent figure in the gray area of Langstel.
Philip extinguished his cigarette and looked at Bruno, somewhat puzzled, “Bruno, are you serious? As far as I know, Sophia is your cousin. Do you really want to deal with her?”
Bruno let out a cold smile, “Throughout history, there have been cases of brothers and sisters killing each other. Though Sophia and I are cousins, if she threatens my position within the family, I can’t sleep peacefully. It’s best to nip these bad trends in the bud.”
Philip’s face revealed a sinister smile, “People on the streets say I’m ruthless and heartless, but compared to you, I suddenly feel noble.”
“Philip, you don’t understand. Sophia married a loser, and that has already damaged the reputation of our Henley family. For the sake of our family’s future, I must do this,” Bruno’s eyes glinted coldly.
“Your family’s mess is none of my concern. I only ask, what’s in it for me?” Philip stared at Bruno.
Bruno released the woman’s embrace and extended a finger, “After this is done, I’ll give you a reward of a million dollars. Is that enough?”
“Still not enough,” Philip shook his head.
Bruno furrowed his brows, “Plus twenty thousand!”
“It’s not about money.” Philip’s gaze shifted to the woman beside Bruno, “I’ve heard about Sophia marrying a loser. You tell me honestly, has Sophia been with that loser sexually?”
Bruno couldn’t help but chuckle, “Among my generation, Sophia is the most beautiful and aloof girl in our Henley family. I can assure you, she hasn’t let that loser touch her in the four years they’ve been married.”
Hearing this, Philip’s face remained impassive, but he was delighted inside, “That loser in your family, his name is Leo, right?”
“Yes, that’s him. Speaking of that guy, he’s a disgrace to men and a source of sorrow to women. There’s not a shred of dignity in him as a man. He’s just a parasite living off women’s success! A leech!” Bruno’s hatred for Leo was stronger than his resentment towards Sophia.
