Chapter 158: Successful Card Swipe

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Karen shot Leo a look as if she were examining a mental patient, wondering if this man’s brain had gone haywire.
It was as if they had heard the most hilarious joke in the world; both the man and the woman couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Suppressing his urge to laugh, the man retorted, “Bro, if you really could buy all the clothes in this store, you wouldn’t need to kick us out. I’d leave on my own.”
The woman chimed in with a laugh, “Honey, do you know what the most pitiful way to die in the world is?”
“What?”
“Dying from bragging too much!”
Even the salesgirl couldn’t hold back her laughter this time. “Hey you, let’s not joke around here. It’s best if you just leave.”
Leo’s expression remained serious, “What’s the total value of all the clothes in your store? Give me a figure.”
The salesgirl quipped, “Well, it seems you’re quite persistent. Alright, I’ll tell you. We exclusively carry high-end designer clothing here. The total value of the clothes currently in the store is around $3. 2 million, and that’s a conservative estimate. If you were to buy them all at once, we’d give you the $3. 2 million for price.”
As she spoke, her tone was almost like she was cracking a joke.
“No problem, I’ll buy them all. But all the commission from the clothes goes only to that salesgirl over there!” Leo said, pointing at someone.
Everyone followed his gaze and saw a young salesgirl arranging clothes on a shelf.
That salesgirl probably hadn’t even dreamt that she could be caught in the crossfire. But the attack wasn’t a bullet; it was money.
Ignoring the gazes of others, Leo walked straight to the cash register.
The man and the woman exchanged a glance, a sense of foreboding creeping in. Could this guy possibly be a hidden rich kid?
If that was the case, he might actually be able to buy out the entire store!
Could it be that we might get overshadowed by money?
The man’s gaze stayed locked onto Leo’s hand.
Leo slipped his hand into his pants pocket.
Damn it!
Oh, for fuck’s sake!
He’d forgotten his wallet!
Seeing Leo fumble around in his pocket, finding nothing, the man’s heart that had been lifted instantly dropped back down.
This guy is just too good at pretending. He scared the hell out of me. I almost fell for it!
“Sir, what are you looking for?” the cashier asked, unable to hold back.
“I left my wallet,” Leo said awkwardly.
The woman sneered, “Who was bragging so confidently earlier about buying everything? Now he’s making up such a lame excuse. If you’re broke, get lost already. Stop putting on a show here!”
Karen felt the heat rise to her face as she was being embarrassed by Leo’s antics. She instinctively pulled on Sophia’s hand and murmured, “Sophia, this is just too embarrassing. Let’s go.”
However, Sophia didn’t quite agree. He knew Leo well. If he didn’t have the money, he wouldn’t engage in a battle of wits with this couple.
Sophia walked up to Leo and whispered, “Forgot your wallet?”
Leo nodded.
The man scorned, “Saleslady, did you hear that? These three are quite the performers. They harmonize so well. Forgetting the wallet is such a poor excuse. People like them, who want to act high and mighty without money, I’ve seen plenty.”
Mocked by this, Karen couldn’t bear it any longer. Initially, she had the upper hand, but with Leo’s antics, she ended up looking like she was trying too hard.
“Sophia, let’s go. Leo bragged himself into this mess, so he should deal with it on his own,” Karen said, reaching for Sophia’s hand.
The salesgirl had lost her patience, “Sir, please don’t disrupt our business here any further. Kindly leave.”
At that moment, Leo touched his coat pocket, and his eyes lit up.
He then pulled out the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon Supreme Card from his pocket. He wasn’t sure if this card functioned as a credit card or not.
But he didn’t care, time to give it a shot.
When the man saw the black card in Leo’s hand, his pupils contracted.
He suddenly felt his legs trembling, and even the muscles in his face twitched.
If he hadn’t misread the card…
He couldn’t imagine what would happen next.
All he thought was to leave quickly. Otherwise, he’d end up humiliating himself.
The man whispered to the woman, “Let’s go!”
The woman, waiting to see Leo’s humiliation, was taken aback, “That guy definitely doesn’t have any money on that card. Don’t worry.”
Now all the man hoped for was that the card wasn’t the kind they were familiar with.
Honestly, Leo felt a bit nervous when he handed over the card. Even though the card Renee gave him was quite magical, who knows if it can be used like a credit card. What if the cashier swipes it on the POS machine and nothing happens? That would be incredibly embarrassing.
Karen and Sophia were also getting a bit anxious.
The cashier took the card from Leo’s hand, looking at it with curiosity. It was the first time she had seen such a uniquely designed card.
Then, she grabbed the POS machine, entered a number-three million two hundred thousand-and swiped the card in the designated area.
A “beep” sound followed.
There was a response!
The cashier’s nerves were on edge. This was over three million dollars. The string of zeros on the POS screen sent a strong jolt through her heart.
She passed the POS machine back to Leo, her hands trembling slightly. “Sir, please enter the password.”
“Password?” Leo hesitated. Renee had never told him there was a password for the card.
Leo quickly pulled out his phone and called Renee.
After hanging up, Leo knew the password and entered six numbers on the POS machine’s keypad.
The password was correct, and the POS started printing a receipt.
The cashier’s eyes widened-three million two hundred thousand transaction successful!
The salesgirl’s mouth dropped open. Amidst the shock was a pang of regret!
She never expected this guy to be so wealthy. Three million two hundred thousand dollars. The commission alone was probably close to fifty thousand!
Regrettably, she had offended him, so he gave all the commission to the new salesgirl.
Envy, jealousy, resentment-these were the emotions flooding through the salesgirl at the moment.
In stark contrast to the strong reactions from the woman, the man remained much calmer. When Leo pulled out that black card, he was mentally prepared.
Speaking of Karen, her initial disdain for Leo quickly turned into envy for Sophia after the successful transaction.
She knew very well that Leo was doing all of this for Sophia.
Leo turned around, looking at the man and woman with a cold tone. “I bought all the clothes. Who was it that just said they should leave on their own accord?”
The man and woman had quietly made their way to the entrance of the clothing store. Upon hearing his words, they awkwardly halted in their tracks.
