Chapter 88: Ambushed on the Way

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

If Leo summoned Purple Radiance, he could likely severely injure him, but that would deplete his own spiritual power. And if Renee’s female bodyguard couldn’t handle Troy, they might be at a disadvantage.
The risk was quite significant, and it boiled down to Leo’s insufficient spiritual power.
Just then, Ella took a heavy blow to her abdomen from Troy, screaming in pain as she fell to the ground.
Surprisingly, Troy used a sneaky move, throwing lime powder at Ella.
“Ella!” Renee rushed to Ella, who was now on the ground, coughing up blood.
Struggling to prop herself up, Ella said, “Miss, don’t worry about me, run away now!”
After dealing a heavy blow to Ella, Troy’s gaze fell upon Dr. Lee and Andrew. “Dr. Lee, you were going to see August Browne, right? Well, today is your unlucky day. You must die!”
At the mention of “die”, Andrew turned pale, his legs trembling uncontrollably. He was wetting his pants, a yellow liquid flowing from his ankle.
Troy laughed, pointing at Andrew, “Dr. Lee, it seems your apprentice is quite afraid of death. What a coward.”
“Andrew, run!” Dr. Lee commanded in a low voice.
Feeling like he had received a pardon, Andrew wasted no time and ran away.
Troy had no intention of chasing after him. Instead, he pulled out a dagger and moved closer to Dr. Lee. If he killed this doctor, there would be no one capable of treating August Browne’s illness.
Although Leo was facing off against Eden Dunbar, he kept an eye on Dr. Lee and Renee. Seeing Troy about to harm Dr. Lee, Leo became anxious and had no choice but to summon Purple Radiance.
Just as Troy was about to stab Dr. Lee, a flash of purple light passed through.
Troy dropped the dagger and clutched his bleeding throat, his eyes wide open. He fell to the ground.
Eden Dunbar noticed Purple Radiance and was shocked that it had taken down Troy from such a distance. What kind of sorcery was this?
While Eden Dunbar was shocked, Leo had already rushed over to Renee and Ella.
“Miss, you have to go!” Ella urgently called out, blood staining her mouth.
Renee’s expression was resolute, “I won’t leave, we’ll leave together!”
After a brief shock, Eden Dunbar stepped towards Leo, “Kid, I really underestimated you. You are indeed powerful, but can you withstand this?”
In Eden Dunbar’s hand appeared a handgun, the black muzzle pointed at Leo.
Leo’s eyes twitched. If they were further apart, he might have a chance to dodge the bullet, but at this close range and with no ability to summon Purple Radiance again, the situation was dangerous.
Leo’s gaze locked onto Eden Dunbar’s right index finger.
“Kid, you can die now.” Eden Dunbar pulled the trigger with his right index finger.
At the same moment, Leo rolled on the ground.
A “bang!” sounded, followed by Renee’s cries of pain.
Leo managed to dodge the bullet, but it hit Renee’s thigh instead.
“Miss!” Ella anxiously called out, struggling to get up and support Renee.
Missing his first shot at Leo, Eden Dunbar turned the gun towards him for a second attempt. However, a purple light shot from Leo’s hand towards Eden.
Eden desperately tried to pull back his gun-wielding hand, but he was too late. The purple light grazed his wrist, severing the tendons and causing the gun to slip from his grasp and fall to the ground.
Clutching his bleeding hand, Eden took a fearful glance at Leo before turning and rushing into his Audi car. With one hand on the steering wheel, he made a sharp U-turn and stepped on the gas, fleeing the scene.
Leo didn’t pursue him; instead, he picked up his Purple Radiance dagger from the ground. His earlier attack wasn’t controlled by conscious thought; he simply threw the dagger as a hidden weapon.
Seeing the Audi disappear, Leo finally relaxed. Thankfully, he scared the guy off; otherwise, with his little spiritual power, he might have ended up in trouble.
“Miss, you’ve been shot in the thigh. Hang in there; I’ll take you to the hospital,” Ella supported Renee into the Mercedes car.
“Let me stop the bleeding first.” Dr. Lee found his medical kit in the car and had Renee lie down. He then lifted her skirt to examine the wound.
The bullet hit Renee on the inner thigh. Dr. Lee used scissors to cut a hole in her stockings to clean the wound.
After applying medicine to the wound and covering it with gauze, blood continued to seep out, making Dr. Lee anxious. “The bullet seems to have hit the femoral artery. I’ll try to apply pressure on the wound, but we need to get her to the hospital quickly to remove the bullet and suture the artery.”
“Dr. Lee, let me do it.” Leo saw Renee’s pale face due to excessive blood loss. If they delayed any longer, she might not make it to the hospital in time.
Dr. Lee looked at Leo and then moved aside.
Leo crouched in front of Renee and removed the medical gauze that was pressed against her thigh. He placed his palm on the wound.
From an outsider’s perspective, it looked like Leo was touching Renee’s thigh inappropriately, but he was actually using his spiritual power to stop the bleeding.
“Leo, you…” Renee blushed, feeling embarrassed and flustered.
“Don’t move, I’m stopping the bleeding. It’ll be okay soon,” Leo said solemnly.
Ella’s expression turned strange. She appreciated that Leo had saved her and Renee, but stopping the bleeding with his hand alone? That seemed far-fetched.
Most likely, Leo is taking advantage of Ella’s vulnerability to make a move on her.
Ella thought this to herself, but she couldn’t say it out loud since Miss Renee didn’t object either.
Even Dr. Lee couldn’t help but cough twice. “Leo, why don’t we use gauze instead?”
As amazing as Leo’s medical skills may be, he can’t stop the bleeding with just one hand.
Leo paid no attention to what they were thinking and concentrated the remaining bit of his spiritual power into his right palm. The spiritual power had worked wonders before, and hopefully, it would stop the bleeding now.
After a minute or two, Leo withdrew his hand.
Miraculously, the wound on Renee’s thigh had stopped bleeding.
Leo felt extremely tired; his spiritual power was drained as if he hadn’t eaten or slept for several days.
Dr. Lee admired, “Leo, you’re truly talented.”
“No need to go to the hospital. Find a quiet place, and we need to remove the bullet from inside,” Leo said, looking at Ella. “Can you drive?”
Ella’s injuries had improved somewhat, and she nodded.
Ella took the driver’s seat, and Dr. Lee and Leo watched over Renee. The car turned around, drove a distance, and then took a side road, continuing up the mountain.
As for the three men lying on the ground, someone would deal with them later.
