Ella drove fast, concerned about Renee’s injuries. Though the road was narrow, Ella’s driving skills were top-notch, making the journey surprisingly smooth.
As for Andrew, no one knew where he went, and nobody cared either.
The Clouddream Mountain’s hilltop was flat and dotted with several villa estates. The entire mountaintop was fully developed for commercial and residential use, even featuring a golf course.
In one corner of the golf course, a middle-aged man with a beard on his face exuded an imposing aura. He was dressed casually and held a golf club in his hand, striking a golf ball with a smooth swing.
After executing a suave twist, swing, and hit, the golf ball was sent flying with power and precision, eventually landing and rolling into the hole.
“Chairman, that was an amazing shot, no worse than a professional,” complimented a young man standing beside the middle-aged man.
The young man was tall, handsome, and wore pricey casual clothes, exuding a hint of arrogance.
“It’s been a while since I played, so I’m finding it a bit challenging with just a few swings. Sigh,” the middle-aged man sighed.
Just then, a butler-like man came running over in a hurry.
“Master, something serious has happened,” panted the butler.
“What’s the matter? Why are you in such a rush?” The middle-aged man’s brow furrowed.
“Miss Renee has returned!” The butler was slightly out of breath.
“Oh, Renee probably invited Dr. Lee over. Mr. Bill, it’s not like the sky is falling. Why are you so anxious?” the middle-aged man replied.
The butler, usually composed and experienced, seemed off today, which irritated the middle-aged man.
“Chairman, it seems like Miss Reneeis injured,” the butler said.
“What!?” The middle-aged man was shocked. “Hurry, take me there!”
The Mercedes-Mr. Billz parked in the villa’s yard, and Leo lifted Renee out of the car like a princess.
To Leo’s surprise, Renee had fallen asleep in his arms.
As Ella led Leo and Dr. Lee towards the villa’s hall, the butler Mr. Bill rushed over with the middle-aged man and the young man following closely.
Upon seeing a stranger holding his daughter, the middle-aged man was momentarily stunned.
The young man was also taken aback, then he directly shouted, “Who are you, and why are you holding her!?”
The young man, Kenneth Joshua, had pursued Renee for three years without even touching her hand. How could he tolerate a stranger holding Renee like this?
“Renee, what happened to you?” August Browne, Renee’s father, was alarmed when he noticed her injuries.
Ella hurriedly explained, “Chairman, we were ambushed by the Flying Dragon Business Association on our way up the mountain. During the confrontation, Miss Renee got shot in the leg.”
“Flying Dragon Business Association!” August Browne clenched his fists, seething with anger.
“Don’t waste time; find me a room. If we don’t remove the bullet soon, the bleeding will sratr again,” urged Leo.
August Browne’s gaze focused on Leo’s face, asking in a deep voice, “Who are you?”
“Chairman, he’s a doctor practicing traditional Chinese medicine invited by Dr. Lee,” Ella explained.
“A doctor practicing traditional Chinese medicine? There’s no way such a young person can do that. He must be a fraud,” Kenneth Joshua didn’t believe it.
Dr. Lee stepped forward and said, “Leo is someone I invited. He’s marvellous. August, I can’t cure your illness, but maybe he can.”
Hearing Dr. Lee vouch for Leo, August Browne’s expression changed again.
Dr. Lee was fifteen years older than August Browne, and they were close friends. He knew Dr. Lee’s character well; he was not only highly skilled but also had great integrity. He wouldn’t joke about such matters.
Could this young man really be a Chinese medicine doctor?
Kenneth Joshua, however, didn’t buy into Dr. Lee’s words and pointed at Leo, shouting, “Even if you are a doctor, who said you could touch Miss Renee? Let her go!”
“Are you an idiot? If I let go now, she’ll fall to the ground,” Leo retorted, then turned to August Browne. “Your daughter is unconscious. Do you want me to save her or not?”
Since Leo came with Dr. Lee, August Browne clenched his teeth and said, “Ella, take him to Renee’s room, and you watch him.”
“Alright, please follow me,” Ella said, enduring the pain in her abdomen as she led Leo upstairs.
August Browne and the others followed behind.
Kenneth Joshua’s face turned cold. He had pursued Renee for three years, not even touching her with a finger, let alone stepping into her room. Now, all his efforts were realized by this man claiming to be a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, seemingly out of nowhere.
Once Leo brought Leo to the bedroom door, Ella pointed, “This is the young lady’s room.”
“Open the door,” Leo said.
Ella pushed the door open, and Leo carried Renee inside.
August Browne and the others wanted to follow, but Leo said, “Wait outside. Until I remove the bullet, no one can come in.”
“What do you think you’re doing!?” Kenneth Joshua couldn’t take it anymore.
Leo didn’t even bother with him, and simply used his foot to “bang” the door shut.
He placed Renee on the bed and then opened the door again, saying, “By the way, Mr. Browne, you should have some jade and precious stones here. Please get them all for me. I need them urgently.”
“Why do you need jade and precious stones?” August Browne was puzzled.
“To heal and save lives, of course,” Leo’s expression was very serious.
“Mr. Bill, go get all the jade and precious stones from the villa,” August Browne instructed Mr. Bill.
“Yes, Chairman,” Mr. Bill complied and left.
Soon, Mr. Bill brought back a lot of jade and precious stone items, such as bracelets, jade pendants, jade figurines, and hanging ornaments.
What pleased Leo the most was a jade three-legged golden toad, about the size of a rugby ball, with abundant spiritual energy inside.
After having the butler place all the jade inside the room, Leo closed the door again.
Kenneth Joshua felt extremely uneasy; he had seen the injured area on Renee’s thigh, which was quite close to the most private and sensitive part of a woman. Alone in a room together, there was no telling what could happen.
“Chairman, maybe we should let Ella go in and supervise him. The room doesn’t have any surgical tools; how could he remove the bullet?” Kenneth Joshua suggested.
August Browne thought it made sense. Renee was currently unconscious, and who could guarantee that the young man wouldn’t take advantage of the situation?
“Dr. Lee, what do you think? Should we let Ella go in?” August Browne asked, seeking his opinion.
“Trust the person you invite; otherwise, there’s no point in inviting them. Let’s believe in Leo,” Dr. Lee said after having several interactions with Leo and believing in his integrity.
