“Mr. Bloomer, hello! I was just about to call you, but you’re here already,” Elsa said with a smile.
“Miss Clarissa, what’s up?” Leo asked.
“Miss Wilde wants to see you. Follow me to her office,” Elsa replied.
Leo nodded and followed Elsa to the sixth floor.
Outside Coral’s office, Elsa gently knocked on the door. Coral’s voice came from inside, inviting them in.
Elsa led Leo into the office and respectfully said, “Miss Wilde, Mr. Bloomer is here.”
Coral nodded, and Elsa gracefully stepped out.
Leo noticed that besides Coral, there was an old man and a young man with glasses in the office. Coral and the old man were sitting face to face on the sofa, and steam occasionally rose from the teacups on the coffee table.
Leo recognized the old man as the renowned local Chinese doctor, Dr. Lee. When Leo entered, Dr. Lee stood up and smiled, “Leo, the young medical prodigy, we meet again.”
Coral also stood up and smiled, “Speak of the devil, and he appears. Leo, Dr. Lee and I were just discussing you. You’ve come at the perfect time.”
The young man with glasses was Dr. Lee’s disciple, who always accompanied him. When he saw Leo, he seemed somewhat unhappy.
“Dr. Lee, did you need something from me?” Leo had assumed that Coral wanted to see him, but now it seemed he was mistaken.
Dr. Lee’s expression turned serious, “Leo, I actually intended to call you directly, but upon learning that you work at Wilde Jewelry Company, I took the liberty of coming here. I do have a favor to ask.”
“What is it, Dr. Lee?”
“I have an old friend who developed a chronic ailment about a year ago. Despite my decades of experience in Chinese medicine, I haven’t been able to cure him completely. I could only alleviate his suffering. After witnessing your miraculous acupuncture skills twice, I thought to ask you to take a look at his condition.”
The young man with glasses was hearing his master, Dr. Lee, speak so sincerely to someone else for the first time, and now he was filled with envy, jealousy, and resentment towards Leo.
After pondering for a moment, Leo replied, “Dr. Lee, I can help, but I have a request.”
“What request? Please tell me,” Dr. Lee knew that someone with extraordinary medical skills like Leo wouldn’t easily agree to others’ requests.
“My request is that if I cure your old friend’s chronic ailment, I won’t ask for any consultation fee, but I need a wild ginseng that’s at least a hundred years old,” Leo said.
Hearing Leo’s words, the other three people in the office were stunned. They had never heard of a doctor curing someone without asking for a consultation fee but instead requesting a wild ginseng.
Coral suddenly recalled Nicola’s evaluation of Leo – “This guy is just a weirdo!”
Seeing Dr. Lee looking somewhat perplexed, Leo asked, “Is that a problem?”
“This… should be no problem,” Dr. Lee smiled. Given his old friend’s powerful background and resources, he was confident that he could obtain a thousand-year wild ginseng, let alone a hundred-year one.
The young man, Andrew Hudson, couldn’t hold back and blurted out, “What if you can’t cure him?”
Dr. Lee immediately scolded him, “Andrew, doctors treat patients; it’s not a gamble. How can you say such a thing?”
Leo smiled and responded to Andrew, “If I can’t cure him, I’ll compensate the patient with ten million!”
Confident and assertive, that’s how Leo was.
Stunned, Andrew couldn’t say a word.
“Leo, can we go now?” Dr. Lee asked.
“No problem, let’s go.”
Coral saw the three out of her office. Since she had work to do, she didn’t go along with them.
When they reached the parking lot, Andrew, wearing glasses, drove, while Leo and Dr. Lee sat in the back seat.
He was more than willing to drive for his teacher, but having Leo back there made him feel uncomfortable.
They left the underground parking lot and merged into the traffic, heading toward the South City.
“Leo, first, we’ll go to my clinic. Then, when the patient’s family arrives, you’ll meet them. You actually know the patient’s family,” Dr. Lee said with a smile.
“I know them? Who is it?” Leo was curious.
Dr. Lee teased, “You’ll find out when we get there.”
Twenty minutes later, the car parked at a spot outside a narrow alley.
The three got out of the car, and Dr. Lee led Leo straight into the alley.
When they reached the middle of the alley, Dr. Lee pointed to the left and said, “Leo, this is my clinic.”
Leo looked up and saw three gilded characters on the plaque above the door-Hall of Benevolence.
They entered the clinic and found a small courtyard inside, with two ginkgo trees growing in it. The leaves were turning yellow at this time of year, making it look beautiful.
Under the ginkgo trees, Leo saw three people, one of whom he knew.
Renee!
Dr. Lee had mentioned someone Leo knew, and that should be her.
Standing to Renee’s right was a girl of about eighteen or nineteen, wearing a clinic uniform. She should be an employee here.
On Renee’s left was a girl with an oval face and long hair, dressed in black leather clothes. Leo could sense an aura that was different from ordinary people emanating from her. She must be Renee’s bodyguard.
“Leo, we meet again,” Renee said as she saw him, walking over with a smile.
“Ms. Browne, hello,” Leo greeted her with a smile.
“Leo, today Renee came here to ask me to treat her father, also my old friend. But I feel it’s necessary to have you join the consultation, so I went to Wilde Jewelry Company to find you,” Dr. Lee explained the situation.
Leo nodded, “Let’s go then.”
The group left the small courtyard and got into a Mercedes-Benz business van, driven by Renee’s female bodyguard.
They were headed to a place called Clouddream Mountain, located to the east of Langstel. It was a famous scenic spot in Langstel.
Behind Clouddream Mountain was a lake called Clouddream Lake. The water in the lake was clear and transparent all year round, and the surrounding scenery was beautiful and delightful.
The road to the mountaintop was a tarred road without a central divider. On both sides of the road were lush greenery. The air was crisp, and if you rolled down the car window and looked at Langstel City down below, it gave you a sense of relaxation and tranquility.
