Chapter 12: Knocked Down in an Instant

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Unbeknownst to Leo, time had flown by, and it was already evening. Immersed in a state of flow, Leo couldn’t feel the passing of time.
At this moment, accompanied by voices, several people wearing taekwondo uniforms approached him.
Two men and three women, with the tallest and strongest-looking man leading the group.
“Daisy, I observed your sparring today, and your technique is already quite impressive. You have great talent, and given time, you will definitely surpass me!” The tall man praised the woman next to him.
Upon hearing this, the woman named Daisy smiled and replied, “You’re too kind, Nick. You already got your black belt three years ago, while I don’t even know when I’ll reach that level.”
After speaking, Daisy’s gaze focused on the person sitting on the ground and…
Daisy’s eyes widened in astonishment. “Look, everyone! The fish in the pond…”
Following her gesture, the others looked in the direction she pointed. Once they saw the scene before them, their mouths dropped open in disbelief, as if they were witnessing a mirage.
Their arrival disturbed Leo, and he slowly opened his eyes, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes.
After hours of cultivation, his spiritual power had increased slightly. However, it was still not enough to completely replenish what he had used before.
When Leo’s gaze fell on the pond, he was also taken aback.
At this moment, almost all the fish in the pond had surfaced. They crowded around the area where Leo was, opening and closing their mouths as if eagerly feeding on something invisible.
Was it because of his absorption of spiritual energy?
Leo’s speculation was correct. All things in the world had spirituality, and because Leo attracted and absorbed the spiritual energy here, the fish in the pond sensed that the spiritual energy was more abundant around him than elsewhere, causing them to swarm towards him.
This rare sight shocked the five people who had arrived at the scene.
One of the girls quickly took out her phone. “This is such a spectacle! I have to record it and share it on TikTok. It’s sure to attract many followers.”
Leo stood up from the ground, stretching lazily. This movement startled the fish, causing them to scatter and disappear into the pond.
“Hey! Don’t stand up!” the girl who was about to film shouted in a panic.
Leo glanced at them, then turned and walked away.
“You, stop!” a man’s voice reached Leo’s ears.
The tall man named Nick took three quick steps towards Leo. He decided to use this opportunity to show off his strength.
“What’s the matter?” Leo replied impatiently.
Nick scanned him up and down, pointing towards the pond. “You scared away the fish in the pond just now, and my friend missed capturing the scene. You need to apologize to her.”
Leo felt an urge to curse. This guy brought me in just to cover for him with a girl.
The girl who was about to film heard Nick’s words and quickly explained, “Nick, it’s fine. I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose.”
“It doesn’t matter if he didn’t do it on purpose; he still needs to apologize.” Nick, slightly taller than Leo, looked down at him with an unreasonable attitude.
Leo’s gaze turned cold. “What if I don’t apologize?”
“Then I’ll kick you!” Nick made a kicking motion with his right foot, aiming it at the air.
With a crisp sound, Nick retracted his right foot.
Everyone present understood the meaning behind the sound. They looked at Nick with envy.
“You taekwondo people, do you all enjoy fighting?” Leo sarcastically remarked.
“What do you mean?” Nick said.
“I mean, what if I don’t apologize?” Leo looked at Nick with a disdainful gaze, as if he were watching a clown.
“You’re asking for it!” After finishing his words, Nick attempted a high roundhouse kick towards Leo.
With spiritual power within him, Leo’s perception and reflexes were far beyond ordinary people. He simply leaned slightly to the side, then extended his right hand like a claw, grabbing hold of Nick’s ankle, and used his strength to pull him backward.
In the next second, Nick’s body flew out about five or six meters. Accompanied by a thud upon landing, Nick let out a painful cry.
The other four individuals stood there dumbfounded.
The senior they admired since they started studying taekwondo had been knocked down for the first time, and it was done so effortlessly.
Leo dusted off his hands, giving a disdainful glance at Nick writhing on the ground, then turned and left.
Just as he got into his car, his phone started ringing. He saw that it was a call from his sister-in-law, Tina. Leo pressed the answer button and turned on the speakerphone.
“Leo, where the hell are you? Get back home and cook. Do you want us to starve?” Tina yelled directly.
“Tina, tell me, if one day I leave your from family, will you get unaccustomed to it? After all, I’ve been cooking for you for four years,” Leo said in a teasing tone.
Tina didn’t expect Leo to say such things. She was stunned for three seconds before yelling again, “What do you mean?”
“It doesn’t mean anything. I just suddenly remembered that in these four years, you’ve never respected me.”
After speaking, Leo hung up the phone and started the car.
Returning to the Henley family, Leo resumed his routine of washing vegetables and cooking, just like before.
The dinner table was mainly occupied by Martin, Jessica, Tina, and Leo. Sophia rarely had dinner at home; she usually returned around 9 or 10 p. m.
Who knows if she was truly busy with work or doing something else.
After dinner, Martin would usually study his jade antiques, Jessica would watch TV dramas, and Tina would go out. As for Leo, he would clean, wash dishes, and do laundry as usual.
Once everything was tidied up, so as not to disturb the Henleys, Leo would typically retreat to his bedroom.
Originally, Leo planned to meditate cross-legged on the bed, but this mansion had almost no spiritual energy, rendering his cultivation ineffective. So he gave up.
He lay on the bed and closed his eyes, reviewing the knowledge he had acquired in his mind.
To his surprise, besides the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and cultivation techniques, his mind also contained knowledge of feng shui and prophesy.
It could be said that if his mind were a computer, it had stored vast amounts of knowledge. If he wanted to know or use any of this knowledge, he only needed to recall it.
And so, the night passed.
