CHAPTER 100 STAY

Book:Two Wives Published:2024-5-1

I shook my head. “No, let’s not. You know I’m not fond of those things.” I reasoned.
“Alright, how about this. I will drop by to your house then bring you some food, how was that?”
I contemplated whether to agree or not. It will be bad if he happens to meet Hezekiah in the house. What will I reason out? The situation might just get worse if they see each other.
“Uh, maybe in another day…” I murmured over the phone.
“Why ? Do you have to go somewhere?”
I heaved a deep sigh before replying. “Nothing really, I just thought I’ll bother you.”
“I’ll be busy for the next weeks. I need to fly to Australia, I have a conference meeting there. I might stay there for a week. Imagine that? So I want to spend my time here with you…”
I sighed. “O-okay, whatever you want…” I murmured again.
I ended the call and leaned against the chair. I sat there for minutes before I realized the time. I immediately stood up and bid goodbye to the employees. I decided to go back to the Villa.
My heart was thumping so hard when I noticed his car in front of my house. I immediately got off the car.
“Is he here ?”
“Yes, Ate ..” Trina politely said.
I didn’t mind her teasing smile. I went inside and looked for Hezekiah.
I saw him in the kitchen, cooking something. It was too late to back out because he already turned to my direction.
He glanced down at his wrist watch then glanced back at me. “The food is ready…” he said in a soft tone.
I looked away as I felt my cheeks flushed but I quickly hid it with my brows raising.
“You don’t have to cook me a meal. I have someone to cook for me, there’s Trina.” I said in my tight lips.
He faced me completely and now I saw him in an apron. This kind of view isn’t new to me, he often cooks in the house before, but seeing him wearing that one made my heart pound fast.
He placed both his hands on the table and stared at me deeply.
“I want to cook for you like I did before…” he said lowly.
My eyebrows raised higher. “It’s different now, and I also learned how to cook when you disappeared…”
He stood and crossed his arms tightly, like a protective barrier. As if he was ready to accept everything I’ll throw to him. He remained calm and quiet even if his eyes were darkly staring at me.
I shrugged my shoulders and chose to go upstairs to change.
When I got inside the room, a bouquet of roses on the bed caught my attention. I sighed and jutted my bottom lip. My heart swelled at his simple gift. Even for a short moment, I want to feel that I’m the only one in his heart.
I went closer and touched the roses. I noticed a short letter clipped inside the bouquet.
“I’ll always comeback to reality, always to you…”
Pain flowed through my veins as I looked up to keep my eyes from crying. I tilted my head and stood up to change.
As I expected, the food is sitting hotly on the table. I didn’t think twice and sat down the seat. Zekiah spared a glanced at me when he entered. Trina was behind him, holding a pitcher with cold water.
“Trina, join us.” I said.
She curtly shook her head. “No need, Ate, I’m still full. I’ll eat later…” she shyly said. She stepped backwards and walked out of the dining room.
Silence enveloped us when she left. I observed his actions and he seemed like he doesn’t have plans on talking to me.
After minutes of silence, he broke it off when he dropped his spoon and stared at me, folding his two arms at the table easily.
“I talked to my legal counsel regarding to our problem.” he said calmly.
I just hissed, “And what did they tell you? Are they in favor that you go home to two wives?!” I said with sarcasm.
I heard his gritted teeth over the table. He shook his head and leaned against his chair.
“It is not like that, Emory, I’m trying to save this relationship the best I could. This is the only way I know to make up for everything…” his voice was still calm but thunderous.
My jaw wanted to drop at his words. It’s not what I expected from him. I thought he was asking for a legal action to annul us but what is he saying?
I raised my glass and sipped the cold water. I almost finished the whole glass. Like it wasn’t enough that I want to get splashed by water to process everything.
I quickly fixed my posture and bravely fought his stares.
“No, you don’t need to do anything. And I didn’t say that you should do those things.”
He just shrugged his shoulder as if he didn’t hear anything except for the brows that furrowed together.
I shook my head and finished my food before standing up. I went upstairs to sleep. Lately, I’ve been moving lazily. After I eat meals, I often get sleepy.
I wanted to go back to my office but my body’s too heavy. Consider the fact that I vomit anytime of the day in any.
It was already three in the afternoon when I heard Trina knocking on my door.
“Oh, why?” I opened the door while rubbing my eyes.
“Uh, Sir Ellwood’s here…” she said nervously.
My body woke up instantly and walked downstairs. My heart rate went faster as I walked fast to the living room. But I didn’t see any silhouette of Ellwood.
I was agitated as I went behind the house where there’s a rectangular swimming pool. And my feet got stucked on the ground as I saw them both sitting at the cool metal chair.
They looked to my direction when they felt my presence. Ellwood immediately walked towards me in big strides.
His eyes were so dark and venomous. With his sharp and ruthlessly bulging body, he can easily rattle my bones as my heart rate pounded loudly.
And my heart stopped beating completely when he stood in front of me with his towering height.
“What does this mean?” he said through gritting teeth.
My eyes flew to Hezekiah, hands inserted in his pants pocket and looked at me with an unreadable expression.
“I swear, I didn’t want him here, but he insisted…” I explained.
He looked up, as if trying to calm his rising anger.
He looked down to me with soft and calm eyes.
“Alright, come join us… I brought pizza…” He winked at me like nothing happened.
He grabbed me by the hand and we walked our way to the lounge. I saw how Hezekiah’s expression changed while staring at our intertwined hands.
“I made Trina prepare the pizza and juice, join us have a snack.” He told to Hezekiah.
I dropped my eyes down because I couldn’t stand his dark stares and clenching jaw.
“No, thanks. I’m still full…” he said in a low voice.
“Well, suit yourself.” I saw Ellwood smirked at him before gently pulling me into a lounge chair.
I almost jumped in shock when he suddenly pulled his metal chair near to me.
“How’s your day? Are you tired from office work?” Ellwood asked me in his cool voice. He gently raised my legs into his lap and massaged it smoothly.
My face heated up, my body starved for oxygen as I turned my gaze to Hezekiah. I know he wants to protest on what Ellwood was doing because his hands weren’t on his pocket. But in the end, he averted his eyes away and looked at Trina who was coming to our direction.
Her head was down as she put the pizza and lemon juice om the table. She was about to leave when Ellwood spoke.
“Trina, how’s everything here? Are you not taking care of your Ate Meredith?” he said softly.
“What? Of course not, sir!” she immediately defended.
He looked up to Trina and raised his brows. His eyes went to and continued massaging my legs.
“Trina, please clean the guest room. Starting today, Meredith will sleep there.”
She quickly glanced at Hezekiah who was standing beside us. Based on her face, she was asking for Hezekiah’s permission.
Trina didn’t reply so Ellwood looked up to her again. “It’s not good for Meredith to walk the stairs, it’s dangerous for her situation.” Ellwood added.
“Go, Trina. Prepare Meredith’s room.” Hezekiah said.
“Uh, okay, sir..” she turned around and went inside the house.
I noticed Ellwood’s face darkening but it quickly vanished.
