I planned to get checked by the doctor but not for now. I want to visit the office. I think I wouldn’t be able to do that anymore in the coming months.
I went out of the bathroom with only a towel covering my body. And I nearly jumped out of my feet when I noticed him sitting at the couch.
“Jesus! Don’t you know how to knock?!” I shouted and fired him a look.
“Why would I do that? This is also my room.” he said in ease.
My jaw clenched and gripped at my towel tightly. I was a bit confused. The way he looked at me boldly and how his eyes drifted on me.
I stepped backwards when he suddenly stood up and walked to me. I want to regret it because his lips lifted into a smirk while striding nearer.
“May I use your bathroom?” he said in a teasing tone and stopped in front of me.
I rolled my eyes up. “Whatever…” I said and walked pass him to go to my walk in closet.
When I finally locked the door behind me, that’s when I sighed in relief.
“Shit!” I can’t help to curse myself. I was frantic while choosing what I’m supposed to wear. My heart was thumping loud. My heart was occupied with e very beat of him, and it’s killing me.
Why is he even here? We can’t be like this forever, I need to talk to him and clear things out.
Finally, after a few minutes of rummaging my closet, I choose my clothes. I wore a black strap dress that I paired the my flat cross sandals. I stayed for a few moments in front of the mirror to look at my outfit. Because of the dress, my baby bump is still not that noticeable. Well, it’s been about two months so it’s not really big.
I tied up my hair, put a blush on, pressed powder and lips gloss for the final touch and made my way out of the closet.
But I stopped on my tracks when Zekiah’s wet face peeked through the bathroom door. Water ran down to the textile of his russet brown hair.
Holy cow, Emory…
“Can you hand me a towel?” he asked in a smooth voice.
I blinked and creased my forehead. “Sorry, I didn’t catch that.” I said with sarcasm.
Because of what I said, he opened the door more. And now, a half of his body was very visible in my view.
Holy shit! I couldn’t help but to rake my eyes down his wet torso.
That protruded veins and those abs dripping with water. Not only that, I could almost see his naked body behind that fucking door.
“Hand me a towel or I’ll get it myself…” he said with twitched lips.
My eyes widened. I immediately walked back to the closet and pulled a towel.
I tilted my head while holding the towel. “You can do it, Emory! There’s nothing to afraid of…”
I went back and lent him the towel while my back was facing him. “Here’s your towel…” I said in my trembling lips.
“Put it inside, I’m not done showering!” he answered.
My brows knitted into one. No way! I’m not keen on that idea. What is he, a fool?
“No, I’d rather not…” I shouted.
I heard the shower stopped. My breathing hitched as I peeked through the small opened space of the door.
And before I make a move, I felt his heavy steps getting closer. My body instantly froze and I can hardly move a bit. The door opened and because of shock, I didn’t fight back when he suddenly pulled me inside the bathroom.
Before I knew it, he was pinning me against the wall. He quickly trapped me inside his arms.
My heart rate increased. I could not help but to open my mouth in a sharp breathe. I couldn’t leave my eyes on his even though I could see that he’s only wearing boxer shorts.
His glare sucked something out of me. My heart pounded louder as I looked up to him.
“What are you afraid of?” he said in a sweet husky voice.
The drops of water from his hair went to my cheek and clothes but it seemed like I couldn’t feel it.
“You’re not good at pretending, Emory. I know deep in your heart, there’s a room for me, for us…” he added with a sharp breath.
He crouched and watched how I reacted to his words.
“Please give me some time to prove what you really deserve.” He shook his head and moved away, brushing his wet hair back using his fingers. “After that, I can leave you alone if that’s what you really want.”
I closed my eyes to ease the pain I felt. Why does it seem that I can’t accept the fact that after all this, he will still go. He will still leave me alone.
I couldn’t help but to tear up when I opened my eyes. I bit down my lip to hold my tears for a few beat more, but I couldn’t, I just couldn’t.
“You can’t deny what’s between us, Emory.” His voice softer now, enough to tame my heart.
But I quickly wiped my tears and met his eyes.
“I’m not a toy that you could throw away and replace with something new once you got bored of me. If you want to leave, leave. And one more thing, who told you to go back here? You’re not welcome here anymore, so don’t assume that I want you here…” I said in between my sobs.
He slightly stood straight but the intensity in his stares was still there. I know he was hit by what I said basing on how his jaw clenched and harsh breathing.
I tried to fight with his stares until he moved away.
He pulled the towel from my hand and ruffled it on his hair before turning around and leaving me in the bathroom.
That’s when my tears cascaded. I don’t want him to see me hurting but while he’s here and there’s no guarantee about how long he’ll stay made the wounds in my heart deepened.
When I got out of the bathroom, he wasn’t in the room anymore. So I decided ti go downstairs but I didn’t see him in the living room.
I turned to Trina who was wiping the figurines.
“Trina, I’m leaving…”
She turned around to face me, “Take care!” She walked first to open the gate.
I reached the scene of her opening the gate but I noticed that Hezekiah’ s car wasn’t parked there.
“Ah, Trina, did Hezekiah left?” I can’t help but to ask.
“Yes, Ate,”
My lips went in a straight line. I wanted to ask if he said something or left a word but shame got to me first.
“Okay, take care of the house…” I said to her before going inside the car.
While driving, I can’t help but to think about his sudden leave. Maybe he’s already tired of pursuing me so he just went back to Alessandra.
I gripped the steering wheel tightly as I calmed my thoughts. I want to remove him from my mind but everytime I try to, it just worsens.
I arrived at the Jewelry shop absentmindedly. I sat on my swivel chair for hours just thinking deeply.
I flinched when my phone rang from the table. When I saw who was calling, I immediately answered it.
“Ellwood…” I mumbled.
“Hi, how are you?” he asked.
I closed my eyes to hide my emotions. “I’m doing fine..” I answered.
“Hmm, sounds unhappy. Is there something bothering you?” he said, words painted with worry.
“No, I’m fine, Ellwood. You?” I cheerfully said.
“I’m doing great, any plans for today?”
I leaned against my chair and played with it. I just wanted to go home. Even if I know Hezekiah’s not there anymore.
“Nothing, why?” I smiled because I know what he’ll reply.
“Let’s go to the football match!”
