Kade
I think I must have committed a terrible offence that made the Moon goddess hate me to the extent of pairing me with an Omega who had a witch best friend.
The girl was weird!
Knowing there was no love lost between werewolves and witches, she made a witch her best friend and even trusted her with her life.
Foolish!
Everyone knows how helpful but cunning witches can be and the last thing to do was to trust them. But here was my mate, trusting some witch.
By the Moon goddess, I wish I could leave the witch behind and go to my pack with my mate, but guilt filled me the moment I saw her close to tears. I didn’t want to hurt the poor girl’s feelings after sensing the great level of closeness she and the witch shared.
What is wrong with me?!
I am the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack that cared less about hurting anyone’s feelings. I find delight in crushing people’s feelings. But this little girl that I just met was already messing with my head, reviving my conscience back to life.
Conscience?
There was no such thing as conscience.
Conscience was dead and forgotten.
“You are perfectly fine, Kade. Just release yourself to our mate and you won’t regret it. Stop being a jerk!” Tyson chimed in between my thoughts.
“Releasing myself to a strange Omega is the last thing I will do,”
“Don’t speak to our mate in such a manner,” Tyson spat, growling angrily in my head.
“Speak for yourself, Tyson, I never wanted her. I didn’t have a choice,” My voice trailed as I looked away, remembering how Tyson waged a war in my head when I was about to pronounce my rejection.
“Really? Then why is she with you? Why are you taking her to the Pack?”
“Because I need a mate to run the Pack with me. I can’t do it alone. Soon, the Pack will ask for their Luna,” A pang of guilt pricked my heart. The thought of having a mate out of necessity and not of desire was what made me accept her.
“You selfish prick, how dare you!” A more ferocious Tyson replied to me, with anger laced in his voice.
“You can go ahead and get angry all you want, but if you think I will let that low-status weakling deceive me again…”
“Esmeralda is different, she will not deceive you,” He replied calmly before retreating into my head.
Esmeralda won’t deceive me. I hope so.
Despite claiming to have accepted her out of necessity and hating her, a part of me knew that it was not true. A tiny part of me.
A deadly glare from me sent her running back to the back seat.
How dare she want to sit beside me!
Who the hell does she think she was?
“She is our mate,” Tyson teased me.
“Welcome back, buddy,” I said, starting the car’s engine and zooming off.
Though deafening silence overwhelmed us as we drove, my head was as noisy as a marketplace. Courtesy, Tyson. It felt good to have him back, but Tyson came back to make matters worse.
Giving in to Tyson’s demand to have a clear view of our mate, I had no choice but to adjust the front mirror to the angle that will give Tyson a view of her… and maybe me.
I felt my eyes darken as Tyson took over, devouring our mate with his eyes and filling my head with perverted thoughts. It took a lot of self-discipline to erase the naked image of Esmeralda that Tyson displayed in my head.
Shivers ran down my spine when Esmeralda’s gaze met mine in the mirror, but Tyson didn’t tear his gaze from her. It felt awkward that she knew I was staring at her… and the witch beside her, but mostly her.
“Look at how beautiful she is,” Tyson complimented dreamily, “Those lovely eyes. You can almost get lost in them,”
“Tyson…” I warned, gripping the wheels tightly.
“What? Will you drive fast and get us into the Blood Moon Pack quickly?! I can’t wait to taste her,”
“Not now, Tyson,” I clenched my jaws, fighting hard against my feelings.
“Fine, have it my way,” Tyson howled and took the wheel from me, driving roughly.
The two girls clung to one another, afraid to fall off the seats as Tyson drove recklessly. My face hardened and my eyes darkened when Tyson saw how clingy Esmeralda was.
“She should be clinging to us!” Tyson growled. Jealousy coated in his words. His eyes found the witch and he let out an angry growl as my face hardened.
If looks could kill, she would be dead.
Esmeralda’s scent overwhelmed me and I let myself drown in the sea of her sweet scent that calmed my nerves.
I knew it was mate bond doing its thing. In a split second, another smell assaulted my nose. The smell of bruises, perhaps my mate was injured.
“Who among you is injured?” I growled, earning a frightening expression from them as I waited for an answer.
Milliseconds turn into seconds, seconds turned into minutes, still no answer. I clenched my jaws hard, trying to control myself as I hated my answer being delayed.
“Don’t make me repeat myself!” I warned, running out of patience, earning a growl from Tyson for frightening our mate.
“I am the one who is injured,” The witch sniffed and looked away while Esmeralda’s gaze widened.
Someone wasn’t telling the truth. I could feel it. I wasn’t an Alpha if I couldn’t detect a lie.
“It’s none of my business then,” I said coldly. The witch could be covered in bruises for all I care.
I was lost in thoughts throughout the rest of the ride. There was no doubt that Esmeralda would be noticed in my pack and people wouldl demand her identity.
Maybe I should break the news to them that she was my mate.
No!
I wasn’t going to do such a thing.
What the fuck do I do?
Maybe I should keep her.
Keep her till when?
“Introduce her to the pack and free your mind,” Tyson chimed in.
Never!
I didn’t know what to do, yet, I didn’t want to give in to the only option. I was at a crossroads.
Tension built up in my heart as I approached my Pack. The Blood Moon Pack.
Ignoring the greetings from my guards as I drove into the garage and packed my Porsche.
“Get out,” I ordered, unfastening my seatbelt and getting out of the car. They could stay there if they wanted.
I saw curiosity in her eyes as I placed my hand on the fingerprint scanner. In a split second, the garage door leading to my room was opened and I was greeted with the familiar darkness of my sitting room.
I preferred it this way.
“Welcome to my house,” I said, proceeding deeper and deeper into the darkness, rubbing my tired eyes.
I almost forgot my guests as I had already started walking to my bedroom, upstairs, before I switched on the light, allowing illumination to take over.
Allowing my mate to feed her eyes and take her time as she couldn’t stop admiring the beauty of my sitting room like she hadn’t seen anything like it.
I wonder what she would do if I took her on a tour around my house.
“That would be great!” Tyson beamed in excitement.
“Your house is beautiful,” She complimented and started another round of exploration.
“I want to have a word with you… without her,” I snapped her out of her fantasy, pinning my gaze on the witch, demanding some privacy with my mate.
I closed my eyes, summoning self-control as Tyson wouldn’t stop whining in my head the moment I was alone with Esmeralda.
“Is there a problem, Alpha?” She inquired, her small curious eyes pinned on mine.
“For there not to be a problem, you have to follow the rules,”
“Rules?” She asked in disbelief. She wasn’t expecting such. I caught her unaware.
“First rule is to keep your mouth shut. Never engage in a conversation with anyone, not even my Beta,”
“Stop it, Kade. Hiding your mate won’t solve anything,”
“That way, history won’t repeat itself. I was sure if that,”
I watched her keenly as she took a step away from me. Confusion and fear got the best of her as she stared into my eyes.
You cannot predict me. The monster in me was peeking its head, slowly.
“Second rule is to avoid the North wing at all cost,” I clenched my fist, shutting any traces of my past that crept into my head.
“You need to heal, Kade. You haven’t healed,”
“I healed a long time ago, Tyson,” I asserted. But a tiny part of me knew how broken I was. Despite knowing I hadn’t completely healed, I never admitted it.
“The third and most important rule is never to tell anyone that you are my mate, the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack. Just do your job and retreat to your room,”
But what job?
Ignoring the shock on her countenance, I proceeded, “Break any of those rules and you’ll be sorry,” I said most coldly.
“Don’t tell me you are not planning to introduce our mate to the Pack,” Tyson questioned, already getting worked up.
“It’s not happening,” I replied and blocked him before he could say another word.
“But why?” Her voice quivered and her lips trembled greatly as she fought the urge to spill tears.
“Because you shouldn’t be heard or seen. You should be kept hidden and no one must know your identity. You are an Omega and I am an Alpha,”
Because I was still broken and I couldn’t afford to let down my guard and get stabbed behind.
“You can sleep anywhere, except the North wing,” I added before climbing the stairs, abandoning her in the large sitting room.
I stopped in my tracks the moment I locked my gaze with another part of my house.
The North wing.
With shaky jelly knees, I strode towards the huge door and placed my palm on its dusty surface.
I sneezed the moment the dust came in contact with my nose, making my hand fall on the door knob.
No!
I screamed in my mind as my heart thumped loudly in my chest. I placed my hand on my chest as my breathing became hard and fast. In less than a second, I was gasping hard for breath and slowly suffocating as my chest began to tighten.
Help me!
I screamed, looking at the full Moon for help, unable to move as my legs were glued to the floor by invincible forces.
I laid helplessly on the floor, my face drained of its colour as my vision began to blur gradually. Images appeared double, soon, I succumbed to the darkness that overwhelmed me as my eyelids were sealed shut, giving in to sleep.
