Ridian.
The children’s shelter was surrounded by a wall fence which we easily jumped over. The car remained outside the fence while Cilla and I went in, dressed in our ski masks, the driver waiting for our exit. The shelter had an office building and a boarding house where the children and youth resided in. from our online stalking, we had found out that it was one large hall divided in the middle. One side was for very young children and preteens while the other was for older teens. It was amazing how foolish humans were. How do you claim to be protecting children yet give out all the details about where they lived? It didn’t make sense at all.
Ross and Ren were twelve, and that meant they were in the teens section. The website had stated that 11 and below were in the younger children section. This made things easy for us since the younger children had matrons sleeping in their side. The side with older teens had no adults. The guard at the gate was easily taken care of. Cilla had knocked him unconscious.
We proceeded with caution. I found a ladder, climbed it and wrapped duct tape over the camera. After that, we went towards the door. I opened it and looked in. The hall was separated by cardboard. I noticed that almost every head in the room was for a girl. Seeing that everyone looked asleep, I tiptoed in to look for the twins while Cilla disappeared into a dark area and turned into her wolf form.
I checked all the kids. I found Rose on the forth bunkbed from the door and clamped a hand on her mouth before waking her up. She relaxed immediately she opened her eyes and saw that it was me.
“Where is Ren?” I asked her in a whispering tone.
“On the other side,” she said. I lifted her up and took her outside before going back in to look for Ren. Rose hugged the wolf that had been waiting at the veranda, knowing it was her sister. I went into the boys’ side. As soon as I entered, a kid with curly hair woke up.
“Who are you?” he asked. I placed a hand on my lips.
“Ahhh,” he screamed. I ran around the beds as he screamed and other kids started waking up. I found Ren on one of the lower bunk beds and grabbed him before running towards the door. One of the kids on the upper beds grabbed me and I knocked him back with a flip of my strong hand. The others started to jump down but it was too late for them. They couldn’t catch me.
I ran out, carrying the boy. I found that Cilla had already left with Rose so I followed quickly. We needed to get to the prison before everything got out. I placed Rose in the getaway car before joining Cilla in the other car. It drove off immediately, leaving the twins with two warriors who started going in the opposite direction.
The driver drove at breakneck speed. The car seemed like it would roll over at any time. Within ten minutes, we were outside the prison.
“Leave if you have to,” I told him before Cilla and I went to jump over the fence, followed by one warrior, the one who had a friend in the prison. We managed to avoid the electric wire. We went straight for the side with a lower wall and jumped into the yard and headed for the residential side. We had been informed that Jane was in a solitary room which had a cage. The human girl who spoke to George said very high risk prisoners were put in cages. I figured whoever had put Jane there knew that she was no normal human. The cage was in a locked room but I broke the lock within seconds. Sound starting blaring out.
“Shit,” Cilla said.
“We only have a minute, just finish her off.” I told her.
Cilla got to the cage but when she reached out to touch it, her hand started to burn and she withdrew it. “Wolf’s bane,” she said. “Where is George?”
“Here,” George arrived immediately with a petite blonde by his side. Perfect timing.
“Please help us open the door.” He told her.
She reached out and opened the lock which didn’t have a padlock. Jane woke up at that moment and her eyes went wide upon seeing us. “What? How?”
Cilla smirked before stepping into the cage. She stepped back as if she had been shocked by the metal. She glared at the metals with distaste.
The human girl went in and pulled a weak Jane out. She had been weakened by the wolf’s bane which seemed to be inside the metal. I the metal had hollow parts inside where the herb had been inserted.
“I wish I had time to make you suffer,” Cilla said, before ramming the stake through Jane’s chest. She let the lifeless body fall and pulled out the stake before standing. “Let’s go.”
We left the room and went into the hallway. We were about to reach the end when four cops appeared.
“One for each,” Cilla said before lunging at one, killing him instantly with a bite into his neck. I pulled out the heart of one while George broke the neck of his victim. The human girl was still struggling so I helped her finish the last cop off. We heard the sound of running and ran as fast as we could. George grabbed the human girl and held her bridal style. When we got outside, he dropped her down before turning.
“Hop on his back and hold fast,” I told her before turning. The sound of gunshots filled the yard while we jumped over the fence in our wolf forms. The driver had driven off, probably after hearing the sounds. We continued to run since we were faster in our forms than in cars. There was small man made forest near the city so we ran to it. We had told the other warriors to take the children there. We ran as fast as we could until we reached there. We were relieved to find our two cars packed there.
Cilla and I made a beeline for the cars and pulled the doors open. Both cars were empty.
“Noooo,” Cilla cried as she rummaged through the car that had the kids, checking everything to find a clue. “No, no, no. This can’t be happening.”
