Everdeen city

Ridian.
The city was called Everdeen City. It took us about three hours to get there by car. When we reached, Cilla and I paid for a suite in a hotel while the warriors went to search for the location of the shelter and prison with the help of Google maps. Science and technology was making things really easy. We waited in out room anxiously for more information while watching the television for more updates. As expected, the police did not give out much information about the investigation. That was annoying. I felt like visiting her but I knew it would alert her on what we were planning to do. I wanted it to be a surprise to her.
A few hours later, the men arrived and we were also taken to the place. We drove by the shelter and then the prison where Jane was being held as the police searched for information about the children. We decided we would carry out both operations at night. I found it hard to believe that Jane had been arrested by a human policeman and had failed to defend herself. She didn’t get herself shot even. It was clear that human law enforcement might have some werewolves hiding among them, pretending to be fully human.
We went into the restaurant of the hotel before going to one of the gardens to plan the attack.
“What time do you think most humans will be in bed?” Cilla asked me.
“I think midnight to three is a good time range to attack,” I said. “Most humans are asleep by that time.”
“We can go to the prison while you two break out the children,” Earl, one of the warriors said.
“No,” Cilla said. “I have to be there for both. I want to see that evil woman’s face when she realizes I’m the one breaking her out, when she realizes she is headed for death and nothing else.”
“It’s too risky for us to wait,” I informed her. “We need to do both things at once. You will have enough time to torture Jane once we capture her. You don’t need to be at the prison for her to feel the depth of your vengeance, darling.”
Cilla touched my hand. “Please, let me have this one thing.”
It was hard to say no to the look she was giving me. “Alright. We’ll do things how you want but if things go wrong, it’ll be your fault.”
“The two places are not so far from each other. If we plan it well and do a noiseless operation, we’ll get to the prison in no time. Two warriors will take the children away to a meeting point after we’ve got them while we proceed to the prison and get Jane.”
“I plan to go to the prison this evening to monitor movements and see the possible routes of getting in,” one of the warriors volunteered. “I have a human friend in that jail. I can go and visit her. I’ll ask her some questions.”
“Won’t she give us away?”
“Not if we promise to get her out as well,” he said. “Miley is loyal. She has never given away the names of her accomplices although they are walking freely. She plans to get her own revenge after serving her time.”
“I don’t trust a human.”
“I think she will be very helpful. We might have the physical strength but the humans have weapons that can put us down although they may not kill. We have to think through before attacking. I’ve heard that the fences have electrical wiring. Who knows what other traps they have in there to prevent prisoners from escaping?”
“He’s right,” Cilla said. “I think we should consider it. In order to be successful, we need to know what we are up against. Underestimating humans has led to the ruin of many people. I don’t want us to end up behind bars or worse, get killed by humans.”
When I thought about it more, I realized it was a good idea. It was better than attacking the prison like headless chicken. So, we gave him the money he needed and sent him off while we continued to plan for the attack. Before checking in to the hotel, we had switched cars so we were not using the car with the weapons. Hotels were strict about what entered their premises and they would have alerted police if they found weapons in our car.
In the evening, we went into a shopping mall in a smaller town to buy some dark clothes to use for disguising ourselves. We figured the places had CCTV cameras so it was best for us not to expose our faces to the world. Being in a human prison would definitely expose us, especially on the full moon when we couldn’t control our turning unless we had ingested certain herbs.
“Why do you need all these things?” the woman at the checkout counter asked upon seeing all the pairs of black clothing and ski masks we had bought. Cilla and I were heavily disguised in makeup. We had gone to a makeup studio first and Cilla had been turned into an older woman using makeup. She looked very different from the usual. I dressed up as an older man as well with a moustache.
“We own a small theater in Everdeen,” Cilla said, smiling at the woman. “We will be showing a new play on Friday and these are some of the costumes we need. A robbery will be taking place in one of the scenes.”
Thankfully, we had not only got the black clothes but added some bright ones.
“Wow, that’s great. What’s the name of your theatre?” she asked.
“Crowsville,” I said, thinking of the one theatre I had ever gone to. It was in another city but I hoped the young teen had never heard of it.”
“That’s a nice name,” she squealed. “I think I’ll go there to check it out if I’m ever in Everdeen.”
“We’d love that,” Cilla said.
“Yep,” I added while smiling at the woman. It seemed to have the desired effect. She blushed and typed into the computer.
Cilla stomped on my foot.
