I grinned as I wrote the text. “Is there a glitch on Webpad?!”
I waited for a while but I still couldn’t get any reply from hii. So I bit my lips and sent another text. “Where are you?”
Anxiety was apparent from the way I texted him. If this was just a mistake, I wanted to turn back time and stand before the computer again to see the notification before my editor could tell me that it was a glitch. I didn’t want to feel disappointed anymore just because I wasn’t able to reach the top ten easily.
I bit my lips harder at that thought and texted a question mark. Just when I thought I would never receive a reply from him, I suddenly saw his profile going online. My heart lurched to my throat at that and I kept staring at the screen as if I had gone mad.
My unblinking eyes focused on the app as I noticed him typing a few words before sending it to me.
“It’s not a glitch. Elise, you really reached the top ten!”
My eyes widened as my fingers trembled. I couldn’t even type a single word before I sprinted inside and glanced at the computer once again. And sure enough, the notification was still here! I quickly clicked at the profile and opened my novel on the website only to find that the number of reads had increased ten fold!
I stared at this scene with my mouth hung open. Did this really happen?! I wasn’t dreaming, was I? I pinched myself, and instead of getting up from this so-called dream, I felt pain in my arms.
But I liked this type of pain that made me realize that this wasn’t just a dream, but a real deal!
Tears appeared in my eyes out of happiness. I grinned as the corners of my lips nearly reached my ears. Just then, my husband walked over to me and said, “Why are you so happy?”
At this time, I didn’t care about the fact that I had no feelings for him. I just wanted to show off and tell him that my work was finally getting recognized after so much struggle! I glanced at him and said, “Lewis, my novel! Just look! It’s famous now!”
He frowned and glanced at the screen before a look of surprise appeared on his face. He turned back to me and said, “Wow. That’s… That’s amazing!”
Even though he only said a few words, I could tell that my husband was genuinely happy. You could see a trace of satisfaction and pride floating in his eyes as he glanced at me.
I averted my eyes and continued to look at the screen before me with widened eyes. This was such good news that I couldn’t wait to fly over to Vampire and celebrate! I wanted to go out on a date and eat with him! I didn’t care what we would do, but I just wanted to find him.
But before I could feel overwhelmed with happiness, I heard Lewis’s words. “Let’s go out and celebrate!”
And there went my happiness down in the drain.
My smile stiffened and I looked at my husband’s happy face. For a while I froze and didn’t know what to say. I really wanted to spend this valuable time with Vampire and celebrate with him instead! It was my editor who had managed to fulfil my dream after all! I still remember the time when my husband used to mock me for writing novels everyday.
I still remembered Lewis being so disappointed with my hobby that he stopped having sex with me. So how could I find it in my heart to celebrate this happiness with someone who didn’t even care about my writing? I pursed my lips and lowered my head.
No matter how much I wanted to spend my time with Vampire, I knew that wasn’t possible. Even though my husband didn’t stop me from seeing Vampire every now and then, there should still be a limit to that if we were meeting in front of Lewis.
After all, my husband’s mood could change anytime and he could stop us from seeing each other ever again! So it was better to stay on the safe side and keep seeing each other in secret. So if my husband wanted to celebrate with me, it would be better for me to agree. So I forced a smile and said, “Okay. Let’s celebrate.”
There was a smile on Lewis’s face at that.
So that day, he cooked a delicious meal while I continued to write since I got a burst of motivation after seeing the notification. My fingers kept on typing as words flew out of them, creating a new world on the computer. I was so engrossed that I didn’t even see how many words I had finished. By the time it was evening, I had already written about ten thousand words in a single day!
I stared at the file before me with widened eyes. I would have never thought that I could finish writing so many words in a single day! But today, not only did I write ten thousand words, but I also gave my hundred percent to make the Chapters more amazing with a higher grammar accuracy.
After finishing the work for today, I finally stretched my hands and glanced at the kitchen as a sweet scent entered my nose. Sure enough, Lewis had made something delicious today. I had to admit, even though me and him were just acting as strangers, I still appreciated his cooking skills.
We both sat on the dining table before Lewis came out of the kitchen with an apron on his body and dishes on both hands. He placed them at the centre of the table and distributed the food in two plates equally before taking off the apron and sitting on the table.
The food placed before me was certainly my favorite, but it reminded me of Vampire. When I was on a date with him, I had eaten the same food at the restaurant. So now that my husband made the same dishes, I couldn’t help but think of that blond haired person who had stolen my heart.
I pursed my lips and lowered my head to eat the food placed before my eyes. Just then, a thought entered my head. These days, Lewis had even stopped going out in search of a job and solely dedicated himself to house work. While I would be busy writing my novels, he would clean the place and even do the dishes and wash clothes all by himself. He slowly turned into a householder, following his work efficiently. That was another reason why I didn’t ask Vampire to come to my home again. I would only meet him up if I ever went out.
But that shouldn’t happen. I didn’t know what this guy was thinking all day! I pursed my lips and sighed. If we were to go our separate ways in the future, he wouldn’t even get any job! After thinking of this, I put down the spoon in my hand and glanced at my husband who was eating the food with an expressionless face. Then I opened my mouth and said, “I think you should continue to search for jobs.”
Lewis’s hands paused and he instantly glanced at me with widened eyes, opening his mouth to say something. But before he could say a single word, I interrupted him. “Listen to me before you reject my idea.”
He closed his mouth and put his spoon down before facing me. I took a deep breath and continued. “You’re the man of the house, and it’s your duty to go out and earn the bread. Of course, today girls can also do that, but I can’t see you staying at home and doing the household work all day. Please, go out and find a job.”
My husband’s eyes stared at me in astonishment for a long time.
