Ava
I was crying on the staircase of my building. I had no clue what I was going to do about this situation. And the only way out was to accept the offer that Sean gave me. How can accept that offer?
It means selling myself off for prostitution, doesn’t it? I’m no less than a hooker. I feel like complete shit.
Just as I was shopping on the staircase. The cat, I was playing with, Millie. She came into my view and she started nuzzling her head towards my leg.
She snuggled towards my leg and she had some sort of a card stuck to her paw. I took the card from her paw and I was shocked to see who’s card but was. It was Sean Dell’s card.
I patted Millie on her head and then she walked away. I took the card. And stared at it for the longest time. Then I did what I could have done possibly done In that situation. I called in his office and took an appointment.
I called the number on the card. And a woman with A very soft voice picked up my call and she said hello.
“Hello, this is Eva Maxwell. Can I get an appointment with Sean Dell? I have something important to discuss with him.” I said to her with as professionalism as possible and not letting her hear the crack in my voice which was due to all the crying I’ve done in past few hours.
“Sure ma’am, Sean sir will be free at 5. PM You can come by then. And he shall see you.” She replied in a robotic sort of a voice. 5:00 PM that means I have a few hours to wait for that. I can prepare off how I can see him what I have to sa
This shouldn’t be very difficult, should it? I hope everything goes well.
“OK, thank you.” I said to the receptionist on the call.
“You’re welcome.” She replied.
There was a hurricane of thoughts in my head, which was falling around. I could not grasp any single information right now. I can only think of the moment I’m going to meet Sean.
***
After two hours I was sitting in Shawn’s office and waiting for him. To finish a meeting as the receptionist said he was in. I’m waiting here for the longest time. Tapping my foot impatiently.
The doors slide open, and I’m in another large lobby – again all glass, steel, and white sandstone. I’m confronted by another desk of sandstone and another young blonde woman dressed impeccably in black and white who rises to greet me.
I’m very scared of his reaction because of the things I’ve said to him and now all of a sudden I’m going to accept his offer. I’m going to Hate all the questions he’ll ask me.
After a few minutes passed, I saw the same powerful aura of the man I’m sort acted with passing with bunch of people around him following him like flocks. He oozed power and strength Through and through.
I called out for him. Loudly enough for him to listen. Sean, I said.
He turned around in an instant. And everyone around us started looking at me. I had at least 50 pairs of eyes looking up my way and my legs start to shiver because of the scrutiny.
He walked towards me with at most confidence and lead me to his office even though his eyes held confusion.
An involuntary shiver runs down my spine as we walk together. He may be arrogant, but then he has a right to be – he’s accomplished so much at such a young age. He doesn’t suffer fools gladly, but why should he. Again, I’m irritated that body couldn’t stop resting so much around him.
When we entered his office I was appalled to see the beautiful office of his.
Behind the leather chairs is a spacious glass-walled meeting room with an equally spacious dark wood table and at least twenty matching chairs around it. Beyond that, there is a floor-to-ceiling window with a view of the skyline that looks out through the city toward the Sound. It’s a stunning vista, and I’m momentarily paralyzed by the view.
The uncertainty is galling, and my nerves resurface, making me fidget. I’ve never been comfortable with one-on-one meetings, preferring the anonymity of a group discussion where I can sit inconspicuously at the back of the room. To be honest, I prefer my own company, reading a classic British novel, curled up in a chair in the campus library. Not sitting twitching nervously in a colossal glass and stone office.
His office is way too big for just one man. In front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, there’s a huge modern dark-wood a desk that six people could comfortably eat around. It matches the coffee table by the couch. Everything else is white – ceiling, floors, and walls except, on the wall by the door, where a mosaic of small paintings hang, thirty-six of them arranged in a square. They are exquisite – a series of mundane, forgotten objects painted in such precise detail they look like photographs. Displayed together, they are breathtaking.
He looks at me and for the longest time, we just stare into the eyes of each other and search our souls.
“Please have a seat, Ava.” He instructs me and I do.
I walk over to the chair and plop on it in gracefully.
“Now can I know the reason for you being here Ava?” He asked me. And I’m like murmuring voice. And I can’t help my body’s reaction to his voice. It was electrifying.
“I… umm… ” my breathing Urge to turn frantic as I remember the past events that happened in the last few hours and I began to pass out and my head starts to go round and round and I can’t think of anything.
Suddenly he’s in front of me. Any hold me by shoulder. “Are you all right?” He asked me with concern and his brows furrowing into a V shape.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I said In a low voice.
He handed me a glass of water.
“Drink it. And take your time before telling me by you are here.”
I took a deep breath. And mustard all the courage. I had to ask him. “The offer you made me that morning, is it still valid?” I asked him in a low voice.
He looks at me with a shocked expression. And, his mouth falls open but nothing comes out of it.
And, I swallowed nervously unsure of what to do or say. Only anticipating good answer from him.
