“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you I was busy texting. That’s totally my fault. I’m so sorry….” she kept apologizing again and again. I spoke.
“It’s okay-” but she didn’t listen and continued.
“It was my fault… my mind has been a little pre-occupied and-”
“IT’S FINE” I kind of yelled at her and then she stopped. Finally.
“Oohhh” she smiled awkwardly at this.
“I’m sorry for yelling I didn’t mean that. Just having a rough day” I said with guilt in my eyes.
“It’s okay. I can understand.”
I nodded at this. Then she extended her hand while greeting me.
“Hey, I’m Claire Williams.”
“Sophie Esinberg” I replied shaking hands with her.
“Actually I’m new and it’s my first day here so can you help me out with my schedule? Where can I find it?”
“Ohh yeah. Sure. I’ll take you to the administration office. You can get your schedule and locker keys from there.”
“Thank you so much for helping. I hope I’m not disturbing you?” she said smiling sweetly. I have to admit that she had a cute smile. She looked beautiful. She was simple. No makeup. Not even eyeliner. She has green eyes, light brown hair which ended just above her belt.
“No. Not at all.” I replied. This was my free period and since Danny had a class I was going to the library so that I can hide behind the books. I love reading. It’s like you live their life. It’s like you’re in another world. What I loved the most is at the end everything is perfect.
We went to the Office and I was still waiting outside the office while Claire was inside getting her schedule and stuff. I saw a guy approaching me. I have seen him earlier with Raymond. He’s one of his best- buddies I guess. But why is he coming here?
I tilted myself a bit so I wasn’t facing that guy completely. I stared at the ground as I heard the footsteps coming towards me.
“Hey! Sophie.” the guy said as I looked up to him.
“Hey?” it came out like a question though I was confused. Why would he talk to me? I mean it’s definitely not about Raymond, right? He has clearly moved on.
“I’m Chase. I’m one of Raymond’s friend. I was just asking…. if you could to come to my party this Friday?” he sighed.
“Umm-” he didn’t let me speak.
“I know you don’t go to parties but I would request you once. I mean- umm- even Daniel is coming so there’s no chance you’ll feel alone. Umm- please? Once?” he was pulling up that puppy dog face. Okay, believe me when I say nobody can say No to that face.
“Umm…. I’ll see. I can’t promise. But I’ll try my best.” I told him apologetically.
He nodded
“Great then. I’ll see you in chemistry”
I nodded and smiled. He went back, left me wondering.
Okay. So just now Chase just asked me to come to a party. Like seriously. A party. I am surprised because No one has ever asked to come to their party. I’m talking about these popular parties. Well. That was different.
But somehow something feels wrong. I mean. Chase is Raymond’s friend. What if it’s just another trick to hurt me, to make fun of me? Because I’m getting the feeling that Raymond loves to see me hurt. I think he enjoys that.
All these thoughts were still swaying across my mind when Claire came out. I wasn’t facing her so I didn’t see her coming out.
“Earth to Sophie…” as I regained my senses I saw her snapping fingers in front of me.
“Huh?”
“Do you zone you this often?” she asked and chuckled.
“Uh, nope” I replied.
“It’s my free period. So we can see school,” she said showing me her schedule.
“Oh cool. I’m free too” I replied.
This is what exactly I wanted. Some time with no thoughts in my mind, with no Raymond in my mind.
NO Raymond. That’s difficult though.
