Chapter Twenty-Two

Book:Impossible Mates Published:2024-5-1

It was the next morning, Ryan and I were just getting ready for the day when the bedroom door starts knocking, I open it to find Justin on the other side.
“I know it’s early but I just really need to speak with you,” he says, I smile letting in him closing the door behind him.
“Good morning” Ryan smiles to Justin as he was tying his shoes on the chair by the window.
“If this is a bad time, I can come back,” Justin says looking towards me, it was like he didn’t want to say what he wanted to in front of Ryan.
“No it’s fine, I’m gonna leave now anyway, your father wants to have breakfast with me,” Ryan says to me standing up looking at himself in the mirror before leaving, telling me he’d see me later.
Once he was gone Justin starts to pace up and down playing with his figures, he looked nervous, he opens his mouth to speak but doesn’t say anything and goes back to pacing.
“Is everything okay you seem nervous?” I ask sitting on the bed, he looks at me still nervous.
“Were Ryan’s parents the ones that kidnapped you?” He asks, I just nod my head he runs his hand through his hair ” you trust him around you, when his parents kidnapped you” he says, like I was wrong for doing that.
“Ryan is my mate and he didn’t even know what his parents did until I told him the other day, he would never do anything to hurt me,” I say, rising to my feet but it doesn’t stop him pacing.
“I mean I thought it was weird when the guards brought a man and a woman here putting them in the dungeons, I didn’t think it would be the future king’s parents,” he says but I stop him from saying anymore, the part about a man and woman people put in dungeons was what I was interested in hearing about.
“What do you mean guards put a man and a woman in a dungeon? Wait Ryan’s parents are here have they been here all along?” I ask, why haven’t I been told about this?
“Your father thought it would be a bad idea to tell you, he wanted you to settle in here, please I wasn’t meant to tell you if they find out I’ll be in huge trouble,” he says grabbing my hand, but I didn’t listen all I could think about was my parents locked in a cell.
“You have to take me to them,” I say but he looks at me shocked shaking his head.
“I can’t do that, I don’t even know where they are,” he says but I give him a look, I knew he knew where they were, if he knows this much he’ll know the rest “okay I know where they are, but no one is allowed to go down there without authorisation from the king or queen,” he says, now it was my turn to pace up and down “this is probably why I wasn’t meant to tell you,” he says sitting on the bed, where I was we’ve both just swapped places, now I’m pacing.
“We need to get authorisation then,” I say walking towards the door, Justin hot on my tail as I walk down the corridor.
“Your father is not gonna let you down there and if you ask, he’ll know I told you,” Justin says still following behind me as we make it to the bottom of the stairs, where my father and Ryan were talking.
“Oh Savannah good morning,” my father says once he notices me Ryan turning around with a smile ” what are you and Justin up to today?” He asks smiling, I knew he wouldn’t be smiling after I asked him where my other parents were.
“We actually came to talk to you,” I say as Justin stands beside me tense, nudging me to stop talking.
“I’ll meet you in there,” Ryan says to my father sending me a questioning look, before walking into the dinner hall.
“What is it?” My father smiles looking at us, I take a look to Justin who sends me pleading eyes.
“Justin and I were talking about school and how I don’t want to change schools, so Justin offered to come to my school with me to help keep me safe,” I say, my father nods looking between Justin and I while I was talking.
“Well normally you would be tutored in the castle, but if Justin wants to accompany you then I don’t see a problem with that, but there will be other guards around the school just to keep you safe,” he says smiling, but I knew he was serious about the guard’s thing.
“Thank you” I smile he nods before making his way into the dining hall, where Ryan left.
“Thank you,” Justin says hugging me tightly, when I looked at his pleading eyes I couldn’t do it he pulls away smiling.
“You’re still taking me to see them,” I say walking away like last time, he was hot on my tail once again.
“Savannah there is no way we’ll be able to get in, there it’s heavily guarded, no one can get in or out without someone finding out,” he tells me, as I get to the sitting room I think it is taking a seat, wow he made a rhyme or did he?
“We’re gonna have to find a way then, please Justin I need your help, I need to talk to them about what happened and ask why,” I say looking at him with sad eyes, like he did with me he looks away sighing.
“Okay fine I’ll help,” he says, I smile hugging him thanking him over and over again as someone walks into the room, We pull apart to see my mother standing by the door smiling.
“I’m not interrupting anything am I?” She asks looking between Justin and me.
“No, I was actually about to head home I only came here to talk to Savannah, I’ll see you later” Justin smiles walking out the room leaving my mother and me alone, this is actually the first time since I got here we’re actually in the same room alone together.
“How are you settling in?” She asks, slowly walking over taking a seat next to me.
“Yeah I’m okay, it’s just a big shock” I smile looking down, she places her hand in mine making me look up at her.
“I’m so happy you’re back home, it’s been a rough 15 years without you” she smiles tearing up as she speaks.
“I’m glad I’m back home too” I smile feeling myself begin to tear up too, she wraps me in a hug holding me in her arms, when I found out I was adopted or well kidnapped, I wanted to find my birth parents so bad and now I’m here talking with one.
