Sunny’s POV
“Don’t cry in front of me, okay? I don’t want to see such ugly view.” Damon said to me as soon as we sat down on a bench at the playground next to the convenience store where he bought two ice creams in popsicle sticks.
I took the ice cream from him, “As if I would actually allow you to see me crying.”
“Then that’s good. I don’t want to see your ugly cry anyway.”
“Do you really love my sister?” I looked at him.
He was surprised by my sudden question and looked at me with wrinkled brows. “What?”
“Why don’t you seem to be hurt about her being with Henry? Why do you look so okay after seeing them kissing a while ago?”
Damon suddenly laughed like a demon that he really is. “Just because someone doesn’t cry already means that they don’t get hurt.”
“W-What?”
“I’m not a crybaby like you. Of course, I got hurt when I found out that Eris has her boyfriend already, but I didn’t cry. Men are not as vulnerable as you girls. We are much stronger than you, physically and emotionally.”
“That’s not true. Crying isn’t a sign of being weak, it’s actually a sign of being strong. We cry to express what we feel, to let people know that we are hurt. While you boys, all you did was to hide your feelings and pretend like it doesn’t affect you. Do you think that would make you look cool?”
Damon didn’t speak, he just continues eating his ice cream while staring at a space. I just heaved a sigh as I leaned on the bench. “Don’t you think life is just so unfair? It makes us fall in love with people we don’t even have a chance with. Why do we always end up falling for people who don’t even have any intentions of catching us?”
“Because we need to feel the pain.” He suddenly spoke which made me glance at him. “We need to feel the pain of loving someone so much, we need to feel the pain of giving our all to someone who didn’t even dare to give back anything. We ought to feel everything of it, every bit of it, so that when the right time comes and someone better would finally step inside our world again, someone who is willing to embrace us for who we really are, then maybe we’ll finally have the right heart, right love at the right time for the right person.” He said then he looked at me.
I stared at him for a while as I felt my heart beating so fast. What is this? Why am I feeling this way? Damon just said something that he doesn’t usually say and it already brought me this kind of feeling?
“You look like a panda.” He suddenly whispered.
“H-Huh?”
“I said you look like a panda.” He repeated then he smiled. My eyes widened when he suddenly put some of his ice cream on my nose. “Now, you look like a panda with white nose! Hahaha!”
I touched my nose and realized that he actually put the ice cream he’s been licking on my nose!
“W-What the hell?! You’re so gross!!!” I yelled as threw my ice cream on his face. I stood up and moved away from him.
“H-Hey nerdy what did you—don’t you really have manners?! Yuck!!!” he said as he wiped the ice cream that I put on his face. “You nerdy! Just make sure I won’t be able to catch you because I would really kill you!!”
I started running away from him while laughing. “You’re the one who started it anyway, you dumbass!!”
“I would really teach you a lesson, nerdy!!!”
We came running and running around the playground like little kids. The people who passed by were looking at us as if we were both going insane. I was already catching for my breath as I sat on the swing, “Come on, let’s stop it here. I’m already tired.”
“Your saliva smells like a rotten trash!” he complained, still wiping his face with a tissue.
“And do you think your saliva smells good? It actually smells like a monkey’s poop.”
His eyes widened, “W-What did you say?! My saliva smells like—Hey nerdy! Do you even know how many women have said that my saliva tastes and smells like wine?!”
“Are you crazy? Who the hell in the world would have a saliva that tastes and smells like wine?”
This dumbs imagination is even more unbelievable than mine. I shook my head as I look at him, “You know what? I think you need a psychiatrist.”
“You can even ask those women that I have kissed. For sure they would tell you how good I am at kissing and how my saliva tasted so good like wine!”
I frowned at him, “You’re gross. I wonder how many women did you share the bacteria in your mouth with. Eew.”
“You’re only saying that because you haven’t experienced being kissed yet.”
“W-What?! Y-You—
“Why? Don’t tell me you already had your first kiss when you didn’t even have a boyfriend yet. You never had one.”
“S-Shut up! I don’t have a boyfriend simply because I’m still waiting for the right person!”
“Right person? Or because all of the people you loved didn’t love you back?”
I rolled my eyes at him. “I’m going home now, thanks for your entertainment.”
“What entertainment are you saying? That’s not free.”
“W-What?”
Damon looked at me as he crossed his arms to his chest, “You need to make sure your parents are ready to meet my parents next week, okay?”
“Speaking of that shit that you made again. What the hell came into your mind to think about that, huh? Are you planning to get married to me already?”
“What? No way! You nerdy, I’m just doing this because I don’t want my parents to be suspicious.”
