“Ow… that kind hurt,” she giggled through the blood. With a whine, the beast knew tonight he wouldn’t get to rip apart the vampire… not if he wanted his mate to live.
“James!” She practically squealed, hurting his sensitive ears as he approached her. She tried to stand up but fell over once more causing her to giggle.
~I’m not James, I’m the beast… what’s wrong with you? ~ He demanded and she suddenly jumped.
“Whoa I totally forgot that we could do that,” she said looking way more impressed than what was called for. “Okay Mr. Big Bad Wolf then,” she added giggling. The beast exhaled noisily through his nose debating on giving James back the control. He carefully grabbed his mate by her arm and pulled her up.
~Why are you so… strange, mate? ~ He asked her.
“Strange?” She repeated looking confused. “I’m not strange… I am so totally awesome! You just can’t handle it oh big furry one,” she cheered, nearly stumbling again and would have if the beast wasn’t holding her. He noticed her eyes were different at that moment, instead of their normal brown color they were more like the color of reddish-brown clay.
~What happened to your eyes? ~ He asked and she shrugged.
“I don’t know Wolfie,” she mocked scolded him. “It not like I can actually see them since I can’t take them out of my head,” she argued then frowned. “Well I guess I could, but then I wouldn’t exactly be able to see,” she stated then erupted into giggles once more. The beast whined which only made her laugh even harder.
“Aww what’s a matter boy! Did you lose your bone?” She asked in one of those sickly sweet tones that people use when talking with babies or their stupid pets.
~You’re lucky you’re my mate~ he sent her with a growl. A sense of relief washed over him when her eyes widened in surprise then she burst out laughing once more only to nearly fall over again.
“Oh such a scary beast,” she said with mocked pouted and attempted to walk on her own but managed to only take three steps before she nearly fell over again. With a growl, he grabbed her around her legs and threw her over his shoulder. She squealed making him wince yet again. “What are you doing? I’m gonna get dizzy!” Lily shrieked then started to laugh hysterically.
~Quiet mate! You need to go home~ he mentally snapped at her.
“Actually Wolfie I’d hate to bust your bubble here but I’m not your mate!” She demanded.
~James may let you get away with that, but I’m not going to. You’re mine, end of the story~ he told her simply and started to towards the ex- alpha’s home.
“Uh no, that’s not the end of the story dog breath! Now you put me down right now!” She demanded, but he ignored her. “You’re such a bad doggie!” she demanded with a giggle. “And a really boring one too! Change back to James!” When he continued to ignore her, she started to pull on his ears. “James! Oh, James! Come play with me James,” she whispered into his ear. “It’s been so long since you’ve played with me.”
He shook his head, freeing his ears from her abusive grip. ~I’m not letting him back until we’re with the alpha. So enough mate! ~ He felt a wave of satisfaction when she made her own whine.
“You’re no fun to play with Wolfie!” She complained, making him feel even more satisfied, but it was short lasted as she started to sing “who was afraid of the big bad wolf.” With a growl, the beast had to remind himself that this was his mate because if this annoying creature was anyone else he’d have killed her by now. Maybe James wasn’t being weak when he was having so many problems with their mate.
The beast was never so happy to see the large white house of the alpha’s father. He saw Chris, his alpha, and the enforcer standing on the porch and literally ran up to them. “Hi, guys!” Lily said through a fit of giggles and waved at them. Without as much as a second thought he tossed her to the three wolves and began to give James back control. He felt a lot more respect for his human half now knowing what the poor guy had to deal with!
“Andy!” Lily cheered as soon as she saw her father walk out onto the back porch. Thankfully the mutt set her on the ground then left to shift back into James. She ran and literally jumped on Andrew, giving him a hug as if she hadn’t seen him in years.
“Uh hello Lily,” Andrew replied and Lily burst out laughing at the expression on his face. She sniffed the air around him then made a pout.
“You don’t smell as good as James,” she admitted because the truth was, James smelled really good. She tapped her chin with curiosity wondering if his blood tasted as good as he smelled. “I’m hungry, what do we have to eat. I’m in the mood for something bloody,” she thought out loud then walked into the house.
“Whoa not so fast,” James said grabbing on to her arm, back to his old self and fully dressed too. How unfortunate, she thought with a little disappointment.
“What’s going on James? Why are her eyes so red?” Andrew asked and that look of horrified shock on his face was starting to get on her nerves.
“My eyes aren’t any redder than they used to be. You know you could ask me since I am like standing right here,” she sneered at him and allowing him to get a good look at her fangs.
“It was Silvano… he made her drink his blood after he had drank hers. It did something to her,” James explained.
