I was almost finished with the dinner preparation with the help of Martha but the dessert was left to assembled… it was tiramisu I thought I should get ready first then even if guest arrived it can be arranged at that moment….. I went to my room and quickly take a shower aftermy shower I picked a sea green dress with blue flowers I finished my look with a golden belt… I lightly put some make up… the toughest part was my hair …. I don’t know how to tame or set them at this short moment …. since its quite long so I thought a braid with twist of French n fish tail will go with some hair falling out from the front …. I was almost finished with my hair when I heard my room was knocked … I turned to saw it was Alex dressed in casual clothes with blue jeans and a grey shirt his cuffs were fold which make him looked more hotter…
I said ‘ hi… when did you came?’
He replied ‘ just 10 min a go… I want to tell you Shawn and his fiancée Rachael will be coming tonight… I hope you don’t mind..
I replied ‘of course not… he is your friend he can came any time he want’
He looked uncomfortable about something but then said
‘you looked radiant… this dress brings the most outstanding shine in your eyes’
I shyly smiled ‘ thanks… I was really nervous but you put me at ease’
He looked unease about something… I have a bet it has something to do with the morning… but I wont mention it I don’t want to embarrassed my self and him again… his guilt is his own doing…
I bent down to retrieve the shoes but since my stomach was making it difficult for me I hold the dresser and try to bend again… Alex hold me by waist he told me to hold on he picked my shoes and then he make me sit in the near couch, then he picked up my foot and puts them on my feet
I said ‘ Alex what are you doing… it doesn’t looked good… I will do it’
He replied ‘ Shh… it looks very good from where I’m seeing..
After putting on my shoes I try to get up but Alex stop me by putting his hand on my leg and then bending towards my body
He said ‘ I wished no one come today so that I can unwrap this dress and get lost in you… but I promise tonight I’m going to do all the stuff which I have in my mind when in saw you…’
I was blushing… when Alex start kissing my mouth ‘ my jaw ‘ my neck then starts playing with my breast…
He looked to me then says ‘ take I’m very difficult person and a very egoistic bastard… I told you I don’t think before I speak… but this thing between us is passionate and electrifing … so this is the only language I know to rectify my action …. you understand that please’
Now I understand his why he is so affectionate towards me…. he feel guilty about this morning…. these moments give me stupid hopes about us and our unborn baby… should I tell him that we are having a girl?… but his words from morning was so clear that he is not interested so left out that information
I put my hands on his face and said ‘ Alex I understand…. we should be going ‘
He replied’ yeah we should but before we go… I want to tell you again don’t get nervous especially from your father ….. I don’t know how I’m going to sound but appearance means a lot in our world don’t say or do anything which you think can create a scene… I hope you get that’
I replied sadly because like my father he also think I will disappointment him… ‘ Alex I will try my best not to embarrassed you…. today I will act as my best’
He uncomfortable looked at me then just nods
We both stand to move towards door…
Emma was having her dinner cause I don’t want to spoil her routine just because of the guests…..
The door bell rang it was Shawn and his beautiful fiancée… she greet me with a huge smile and hugs me
She said ‘ Shawn told me a lot about you.. you looked so beautiful and glowing’
No one ever was so affectionate towards me with the first meeting I was little shocked with I give her a smile and thanked her….. then after few minutes my parents came… my parents first they come hugged Alex and Emma….. I hesitantly moved to greet them… Mom just looked to me I moved to hug her but looked my stomach and just turned her face….. my face was red …. when I moved to greet my father I try to give him a hug he stop me by holding my arms tightly …..
Dad said ‘ oh oh… so you have prove to be your mother daughter….. she will be so proud that you trapped a good looking and rich guy by getting pregnant… but people like you forget that they never get the respect or love in the society…. when Alex told me about your pregnancy I was so shocked and angry but when he told us he doesn’t want to do anything with this marriage or with this baby…. it gives us a satisfaction that you people cannot win us’
I was now silently crying trying to give him a sad smile… his words still hurt but ALEX told him about that he doesn’t want my baby totally breaks me…
Alex came over he looked embarrassed about the things my father said… he said’ Ryan I think you should not talk about this we had a discussion about this and you know everything so please keep it civil in front of other guest’
Father said ‘ civil with her… she is a disappointment, she never gave a single days happiness in my life, and now you are going to see how she will embarrassed you in front of your guests… she has no social standing or manners’
Alex replied ‘ enough! Ryan I told you to leave it behind… Kate is my wife now also she has social standing now… please if not for me, but for Emily sake be civil’
My father just nod… by the time Alex parents, his uncle and aunty with their daughter who looks closer to my age
I greet them… Alex parents met me with smile and hug, they ask about my health
Alex’s uncle Sam and his wife gives me a slight smile… their daughter Helen did not hug me but give me reserved smile and just a handshake.
It was awkward for everyone
Alex’s mom and aunt came over and said ‘sorry for that but I forget to tell you Helen was very good friend of Emily’s and very protective of her but after her death… she was very sad like she lost a sister.. so her reserved behaviour was because now you rare Alex’s wife that she feels uncomfortable’
I smiled and said ‘ I totally understand… its new for everyone… I hope with time every thing will be normal’
Dinner went well… father, Alex, his father and uncle start talking about business stuff… we the ladies went to lounge to have our dessert and tea there’
Alex aunt said ‘ Kate you are excellent cook… we used to come to Alex house but this dinner of yours proves to be the best visit of my life’
She said jokingly but Helen seems to mind that she said ‘ Mom Emily was also good cook… but more over she had a gracful welcoming feel to everything she did’
I just smiled, but did not replied… Alex instructed me that I should not do or say anything that create scene
Alex’s mom and his aunt come to my rescue they said ‘ Helen we understand that Emily was your friend but making Kate uncomfortable is not acceptable too’
Helen replied ‘ uncomfortable!! What about her she has make so many life uncomfortable… Alex told me multiple times how much he regret her… how she trapped her by pregnancy… she don’t deserve to be here … ‘
Alex mom said in anger ‘ Helen… I know you care for Alex just like your brother but she is his wife… you have to respect her… now she will be living in Alex’s life not Emily so start accepting that’
Helen replied ‘ she may be living in his life but not in his heart… cant you see all house is covered in Emily pictures… and your saying Emily do not belong here… she cant even make her own place in this house…. no wonder all the rumours we have heard might be true…. how can you be sure this is Alex’s baby it can belong to any bastard’
Now I can’t control my self… I am so angry that how dare she bring my child into this…
I turn to her and say’ Helen.. say what ever you want to say to me but don’t you dare to say anything about my baby… because if you did then its not going to be good… you understand?’
Helen ‘ I knew it… this is her real bitchy face..
She doesn’t complete her sentence because Alex came… and I become relaxed that he will support me
Alex said ‘ what’s going on?
Helen replied ‘ why don’t you ask your little innocent wife here… she just insulted me… not just an insult but she warned me too… is this how she treat the guests’
I try to speaking but Alex stop me and said ‘ Kate what the fuck did you say?…. Helen is my sister… how dare you to disrespect her like that… when ever I try to trust you… you do something to make me disappointment …. ‘
I replied ‘ Alex please listen to me… she is telling you a half truth..
Alex looked so angry and said ‘ enough… I don’t want to listen a word from your mouth… apologized her… right now’
Alex’s mom came over and tried to tell him the whole truth, but Alex told them to keep out from this… he said he won’t listento anything from anyone…
I replied’ Alex I won’t apologized to her… she..
Alex stop me in midway n said ‘ Don’t you dare to say No… Kate we made a deal so always thing about it before you say No… now apologized Helen right now’
My heart crushed into more tiny pieces… then I know he was still using my baby future as a pawn to me
I teary looked Helen n said ‘ I’m sorry Helen… if I disrespected you… I wont do this again… I’m not like Emily. who has a social standing unlike me …. I’m just disappointment in everyone life… Please forgive me…
I looked at the shocked faces of Alex and then Shawn they might remember these words… Alex has used those words about me in their wedding ceremony… I used then again to see Alex reaction.
I said goodbye to everyone and went to my room… I was so angry with myself with everyone… that all I do is cry.
