THE DAY WENT FAST. I stayed here one, two, three weeks. I could tell, my job is easy because Lara is almost help me with everything. If she can do the work, she does it herself. As long as my focus should be on Carlson.
Lara’s starting her new business as the owner of a coffee shop, though we haven’t talked about her personal life, even about Dawzon who I know she only limits mention to me.
“Cherry, please come help me with this groceries,” she humbly ordered to me, she just arrived from the supermarket.
I immediately obeyed what she said and quickly went to the kitchen to take out the groceries she had bought one by one on the plastic.
“Have you been able to cook? I just bought fresh Lapu-lapu,” she told me to quickly go to the fridge to put some fresh meat she bought.
“Not yet, I cleaned Dawzon’s room, earlier,” I answered while now in front of the double wall cabinet.
I noticed that she was stunned by my answer so I quickly turned to her and she was now quiet as I sat down. Even if I want to retract what I said, it’s no longer possible, I have no choice but to scold myself and just keep quiet.
“I’ll just go upstairs for a moment to change and cook for our lunch,” she informed me headed towards the doorway.
I sighed loudly since she came out of the kitchen, I continued what I was doing but I seemed to have lost focus because of the trend we talked about earlier. My heart aches completely because Rexon dared to enter my mind again. I try to get rid of some things about him but it’s like a curse that just a simple prayer can’t get rid of.
“Cherry, you take care of Carlson first, I just need to take care of something at the coffee shop.” Lara ordered me one Sunday morning.
“Sure! Are you going to have lunch here?” I asked her, as my gaze followed her as she went downstairs.
She’s stunning, wearing her black knitted dress. Lift it up nicely without you effort-effort. Especially the waves of her hair that slowly bounce back through her shoulder.
“I’m not sure, Japs and I will meet and I’ll have lunch with him there.” she answered, as she adjusted the wearing of her pearl earring on her ear.
I just nodded at that thing.
“If Rexon comes, just cook him chicken pasta, that’s his favorite.” Lara told me without a pause. She is now sitting on the couch while rummaging through her clutch bag.
“Sure,” I stuttered, The familiar pain seep inside me because of what she said. It’s no wonder why she knows Rexon’s favorite food.
She stopped for a moment and glanced at me with a smile on her lips.
“I’ll better go. Don’t forget to give Carlson his vitamins, okay?” She told me before standing up.
I nodded in replied. She got into her car and drove away. I looked at her for a few minutes before deciding to lock the gate. I quickly glanced at Carlson who was still sound asleep in the crib when I entered.
I filled my lungs with glassy air before starting my daily routine. Cleaning the house, do the dishes, and watering the plants. These are just some of the things I regularly do in the morning. Lara often cooks with us, it’s more fun because she might not just like what I know is homemade.
It was afternoon when I chose to relax in the lounge in front of the pool with Carlson. The wind is light here outside at this time so we prefer to stay here, when we are awakened by a series of doorbells at the gate.
I quickly got up with Carlson to pick up who was outside. If Lara came in, she would just blow the horn because she was riding her car. So I couldn’t help but feel my chest heaving at the thought of Rexon coming. From here I heard some laughter coming from outside.
I slowly opened the gate to take a peek. I was a bit surprised to recognize them.
“Jeff!” I blinked.
“Hello, pretty lady,” he greeted, and show off his mesmerizing smile at me.
“Ah, Hi!” I instantly said, and nodded. I eased the gate open for them and glanced at Rexon who was at his side, looking very handsome today. Skye and Zach were also there waving their hands at me.
“Come in!” I said, and turned sideways to give them way.
“Is Lara there?” Rexon stopped in his tracks and anchored his gaze at me.
“Nothing yet, I’ll just call to say you’re here,” I answered back and looked away.
“Don’t bother, I’ll just call her,” he coldly said then he took Carlson from me who immediately came to go inside.
I was left biting my own lip, mending my own heartache as I followed him.
“You have so many similarities,” I heard what Skye’s commented, as I entered the kitchen. I didn’t hear Rexon answer but I heard him grin at what Skye said.
Shaking I forced myself to act normally. I immediately served them juice and chicken pasta in the living room. “Have a snack first,” I said with a smile before standing in front of them.
No one open their mouth to speak. Jeff laid his back against the couch, while Skye and Zach, looked curiously. I know they can’t believe until here they will see me. I feel like I’m a leech clinging everywhere.
“Thanks, Cherry please join us?” Skye, broke the silence.
“No, I actually just finished,” I refused.
“Seriously, your pasta was great,” Zach said, give me an approval thumbs up.
“Well, thanks!” I murmured, I blushed scarlet.
“You’re not asking, chicken pasta was one of Rexon’s favorite pasta dishes, right Rex?” Skye confirmed, lifted his plate to me.
“Shut up, dude!” Rexon exclaimed without him looking.
“Hmm, Lara mentioned you come by so, Idecided to cook for you!” I said, throwing them a smile.
Jeff coughed and drifted his eyes away from me while shaking his head repeatedly.
I swallowed hard and hesitantly bowed my head to the floor. I know what he wants to release. I’m not that numb to not understand that. So I decided to say goodbye to them first. I hurriedly ran to the kitchen and then stopped at the doorway and at the same time my heart stopped for a moment, as if I wanted to grab it from inside my chest and give it air to beat again.
