NEED SOME HELP? “I heard a voice at my back, I turned around and looked at Jeff.
I walk towards the kitchen and carefully placing the empty tray at the table. “I’m okay here, thanks!” I assured him.
“Looks like you’ve adjusted to your new job?” he said, leaning his back at the sink, crossing arm around his chest.
“Yeah, I need to. I wasn’t selected for the job.” I utter, words struggling from my mouth.
He nod, “I know it’s hard for you to pretend that you’re okay. Everyone has their limit, you can refuse if you’re tired,” he added.
I started to ignore his statement, keeping myself busy and pretending an emotion I could not really feel.
“I’m not against with Rexon, but this is fucking out of the line!” his voice thunderously raising from the deep well.
“Jeff, please…” I said, still managed my voice to be calm and quiet.
I straightened up and started to step out my feet closer to the table.
“Cherry,” Jeff whispered, pounding his fisted hand at the table. I quivered my chapping lips and keep avoiding him.
“The only person who could have saved you from this, is none other than, you Cherry! You don’t deserve any of these and I know you really wanted to make things better, but please, never pretend to be someone you are not,” he spoke with solace. I could hear his rapidly breathing that holding back his emotion.
“I know its hurts to admit. But, I think he is fucking took you for granted. Please, give yourself enough respect to walk away from someone who doesn’t see your worth,” Jeff concluded.
I gasped heavily, and my eyes gets puffy and red. He is right, there’s no medicine was able to soften my pain inside me. I have to pretend because this is the only choice I have. But after what he said, it seemed like something was pushing me to speak.
I stopped what I was doing and looked at him, “You wanna know real pain?” I asked.
“Then fall in love…” I whispered.
“What is happening here?” Rexon interrupted. He approached us while Carlson was carrying.
“Nothing,” Jeff responded. His eyes settle at Rexon before glancing at me. I also quickly bent down to hide the crying.
“I called Lara, she’s on her way home together with Japs and Clara.” he informed.
“Great, it looks like this is going to be a good day!” Jeff stretching his arm and shoulder.
“They’re are off limits!” Rexon chuckled, but his eyes turned serious.
“In that case, I have Cherry.” Jeff said, cocked his head to me.
Rexon scowled, “No way, she had a lot of work to do.”
Jeff turned to meet an eyebrow. “Too bad man, look what you’ve done to her? A rising super model, turned into a poor babysitter? Show some respect dude!” Jeff couldn’t help but raise his voice him.
“Jeff, stop!” I scolded, but he had no intention of stopping because he even stepped closer to Rexon who until now was still carrying Carlson.
“Why don’t you mind your own business, Instead!” Rexon responded, way too defensively.
“Instead of trying to find her in the ocean, why don’t you let her swim in your net?!” Jeff exclaimed, then smirked, “I pity you, Rex for playing such a dirty game!” Then he walk out of the kitchen.
My emotion seeped down my face. I wanted to follow Jeff but Rexon quickly confronted me. When I met the glare of him, I was held hostage by his eyes.
“We’ll talk later,” he said, his tone was harsh and his expression was one of anger.
“We don’t have to talk about,” I bravely said, drilled him with a gleam hawkish gaze.
“I’m not done yet, babe. Remember we had an unfinished business to do.” he grumbled. His words splintered in my heart bigtime.
The confidence which I held earlier had all but disappeared. I feel like he took my strength. I said nothing I was dumb full speechless!
Earlier he was gone but his presence is still in my system. He left me with nothing but standing on the line between giving up and seeing how much more I can take.
“Hmm, what smell of that ah?” I quickly made a look back at the voice that spoke from behind me.
“Good evening!” I greeted Lara with a velvety smile on my face.
She walks towards the kitchen sink and washes her hand. “I’m with my friends, I’ll introduce you later,” she informed me.
“All right,” I said, then shrugged.
“How are the boys?” she pulled a seat and laid her back against the chair.
“N-no, they’re kind.” I utter, and turning off the stove. “Dinner is ready!” I excitedly said.
“Great! Thanks, Cherry!” she said to me before standing up to help me file and take to the dining room.
“Cherry, come with eat with us!” Lara was with me when everyone could sit at the table. From where I was standing I could see Rexon glancing at me.
“No, I’m still full. I’ll just take Carlson upstairs to sleep.” I utter, and Ignored his inexpugnable glance.
Lara nodded at me so I quickly turned around to go upstairs, Carlson quickly fell asleep, probably because he was tired of playing with Rexon. I pushed him on the bed first so that I could sleep soundly. I couldn’t help but fall asleep.
I slowly opened my eyes when I felt a hand caressing my cheek and my heart strike with surprise when I found out who’s at my side.
“Rex,” I muttered, also quickly making a quick glance at Carlson who was in his crib now.
“Sshh, sorry if I waken you up,” he said in a hushed voice. Eyes raked my bare skin.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, swung him a restless gaze.
“You haven’t taken your dinner, you might get sick,” he softly said, his hand continued caressing my skin.
“I’m okay, I’m still full.” I nod, but I firmly bit my lip when I heard my stomach grumbled, add the palm of his gently caressing my arm.
“See? I told you. You’re body can’t lie,” he barely whispered, Unglued his eyes at me.
I heave a deep sigh, “I’m okay Rex, go back downstairs so they might be looking for you. I don’t want them to think anything bad about us,” I said. I went back to bed and turned around to go back to sleep.
I thought he was going to come out but I was shocked when he leaned over me to lie down on the bed.
“What the fuck are you doing?!” I quietly said. I would have gotten up quickly for fear of Carlson waking up but his muscular body pinning me against the bed, “Please, stay for a moment,” he murmured, buried his face on my shoulder.
I closed my eyes tightly, to fight the feeling, This is not right, but my knees got weak, I felt really sick but in the good way.
I fluttered at the feeling of his body pressed against mine. The arms that held me were soft yet strong. His hand drifted to my hips, gently rubbing my uncovered skin.
