“… forever.” he unconsciously said. He saw Grace opened her eyes. “Sorry, did I wake you up?”
“No. What time is it?” she asked.
He helped her from lying to sitting. “It’s two in the midnight.”
“I see… Where’s Nurse Dy?” she asked once again.
“He had an emergency so I’m the one who’s in charge to look after you.”
“Hmm… Then, it’s time for me to take some snack to eat and take my medicine like the way you said.”
He’s stocked. He forgot that. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to forget about it.”
Grace laughed. “Just kidding, I’m awake ahead through the time I need to take some snack so I could take my medicine.”
He smiled. “Here.”
He saw her opened the packaged of the bread he gave. “You want some?” she asked.
“No.” he politely said.
“Okay. When it’s only me and Nurse Dy, he kept on accompany me while eating this late.”
“Why?” he asks due to his curiosity hit him.
“He said; it’s lonely when eating alone which is true.”
He smiled. “Then, I’ll accompany you tonight. I don’t want you to feel lonely.” She smiled and offered him what she eats once again. They had a lot of fun, although it’s been years since they were apart from each other.
“Now, take this medicine.” he said.
He saw how her face reacts after she took the medicine. “If only I could skip this medicine, I will but I have to.” she said after drinking water.
“That’s my girl.” he said and stroke her head.
She chuckled. “In just a few minutes, I’ll fall asleep.”
“Yeah, just sleep. I’ll be your guard for tonight.”
“You don’t act like an authoritative doctor.”
“What do I act like?”
“You act as if we were just friends.”
“Is that making you feel awkward?”
She smiled. “No. It makes me feel better that way.” she said.
He saw how her eyes closed and fell asleep. “That’s good then.”
JL had a good and bad day yesterday. He had a good day when he saw how Grace smiles at him but it begun to change when Doctor Jimenez caught her attention. He felt like he stole away her attention from him.
Rovi looked at him with an authority look to move, although he doesn’t want to go away from her side, he doesn’t want her to sense something in between him and her doctor so he moved out from where he’s sitting. “This is Miss Li, she’ll be her therapist. You’re schedule will start tomorrow at eight in the morning. Well, I have to go now. Just ask her for further details. Nurse Dy, record all of her improvements within the span of her therapy. I’ll be leaving now.” he heard him said then left but he didn’t lost the sight of a smile on his lips.
“You won today but there will never have next time.” he said unto himself. That hour onwards, Grace never noticed him. Grace kept on asking her therapist.
“Miss Li, how about the scheduling days?”
“It’ll be every other day, three to four times a week and it’ll long for two hours. For today, we’re going to bring and install all the equipments here.” explained the therapist.
“Is there a possibility that I can walk again?”
The therapist smiled. “Yeah, but for tomorrow, we’ll massage your feet and if the progress is fast then we’ll be moving to the next step such as moving your feet and so on. I can see that you’re excited, we can use that excitement tomorrow but be patient.”
He saw her looked at him and smiled. He smiled back. “I have to go now. I’ll be back tomorrow.” he said unto her and her family.
He’s doesn’t want to feel upset but he felt it that way. He can’t change the fact that Grace is really excited about walking again, he understand that but he can’t set aside the feeling of being selfish. He got his eyes brighter and shined. “That’s right! When Grace is already recovered then she’ll be dismissed at that hospital and there’s a possibility that Doctor Jimenez won’t able to see her.” he murmured.
“Bro, what are you murmuring at, huh?” JC asked while mapping the floor.
“Nothing.” he said then wipes the table.
“You’re mumbling something…” JC teased.
“Stop, okay?”
JC fake a laughed. “Girls, can you guess who he is mumbling about?” he shouts out to their siblings who are playing. He looked at his brother. JC just chuckled but he kept on looking at him. JC smiled. “What?”
“Come here.” he said.
“Why would I? I know that looked, you can’t pull me there nor drag me to come near you.” JC said between his smile and run.
He chased his brother. “I just noticed few days ago, you’re always teasing me. Girls, help me to chase him.” Their sisters’ start running chasing them due to confusion whom are they going to chase. They stopped running all over their house and ended sitting on the floor laughing.
“So, how’s Grace doing? Is she doing well?” JC asked between his pant.
He smiled. “She’s doing well.”
“Why are you making that face if she’s doing well?” JC asked out of curiosity.
“I think that Doctor is blocking my way unto her heart.” he said with sadness.
JC tapped his shoulder. “Then, don’t let him block the way. Pursue, let her more fall in love with you. Support her all the way.” JC said.
He smiled timidly. “Thank you. Now.” he stood-up. “Let us continue cleaning the house. Girls, keep your toys on that basket, okay? We’ll be playing clay later after cleaning the house.”
“I’m sorry, I’m late.” Nurse Dy said apologetically.
