He saw JL walking on the hallway. JL stopped in front of him. “I’ll do everything to make her forget about you.”
That hit him but he just smiled with confidence in his eyes and walked away. “You little, you can’t erase the fact that she still loves me although she can’t remember me. I trust her and I believe that maybe her brain forgot about me but never her heart.” he said unto himself although he wants to shout it out.
JL saw Grace lying down on the bed while reading an old black book but not that old. He can see that book kept properly but it’s still obvious that time made that book old. “How are you?” he asked.
Grace immediately close the book and keeps it under her pillow. She smiled. “I’m fine. I’m doing well, you don’t have to worry that much.”
He smiled. “That’s the smile that I really wanted to see. Can you stand now?”
“Not yet. All I can do for now is to lie down and sit.” she said with her soft voice that made it like a melody unto his ear.
He smiled at her. “I’m sorry for getting you through this.”
She smiled back. “No, you don’t have to.”
He smiled at her once again. “We’ll get through this if we’re going to work together. It’s same as the heart of a human, let’s say I’m the heart and you’re the blood, we need to work together because if one of us didn’t cooperate, it’ll be nothing. Even though you’ll run through my veins if I’m not going to pump, it’ll be a waste and even if I’ll pump as much I can if you’re not running through my veins, it’ll be nothing and it won’t work.”
She looked at his eyes and smiled at him.
He smiled at her once again. “If it’s just me, I’m not in a hurry to be us, if there’s a chance. For me, seeing you and be with you is enough already because that’s important and if I’ll start once again, you have to cooperate. It’s like we have to prove and make feel into each other that we like each other.”
Rovi saw Grace smiled at him. “So, he just liked her while I love her. Grace, do you see the difference between liked and loved?” he says to himself. He opened the door wide to get her attention. He automatically smiled at her. “Are you ready to know your therapist?” he asked.
He saw the excitement unto her eyes. “Is he here already?” she asked.
He chuckled. “Not he but she. Well, she’s the best therapist I’ve ever known. I think your sponsor really wants the best for you so he hired a private therapist for you. Miss Li, come here and introduce yourself.”
He looked at JL with an authority look to move and he succeeded. “This is Miss Li, she’ll be her therapist. You’re schedule will start tomorrow at eight in the morning. Well, I have to go now. Just ask her for further details. Nurse Dy, record all of her improvements within the span of her therapy. I’ll be leaving now.” he said then left with a smile on his lips.
He can’t help but to smile. “Doc, I can see all over your face how happy you are.” said one of his patient.
“Is that obvious, grandpa?” he asked with amusement on his face.
The old man chuckled. “It must be a girl, am I right?”
He smiled. “How come you knew?”
“It’s written on your face, besides when a man smiles like that it has only one meaning behind that smile and that’s a girl.”
He laughed. “Grandpa, you got me there maybe, because I’m just about to begin while you were already finished.”
The old man laughed. “It’s not about who’s about to begin or who just finished it. It’s about how you start it and repeat it in different ways simultaneously.”
He smiled. “That’s a word of wisdom. Well, a friend told me not to force everything instead makes it just like an ordinary in a special way.”
“That’s how it should be, Doc. You were good to all of us here, from babies to elders. You just have to wait and everything will fall into the right place.” said the old man.
He smiled. “Thank you.”
It was midnight when he was about to sleep, Nurse Dy called him. He rushed unto Grace’s room and looked at her. He sighed into relieve. “Nurse Dy, why did you call for me this late at night?”
Nurse Dy looked away. “I have to leave for awhile; she doesn’t have her family here so I have to call you. It’s emergency, I’m sorry.”
He smiled. “Okay, when are you coming back?”
“Tomorrow morning.”
“It’s already tomorrow, you said.” he said monotony.
Nurse Dy chuckled. “Before the time of her therapy, I’ll be right here.”
“Okay, thank you. Take care.”
“Thanks.”
He just looked at him then close the door and sat near her bed. “You’re still beautiful, inside and out. You’re smile is so perfect that I can’t resist. Your eyes always view things beautifully. Do you still remember what I’ve promised you before I flew abroad?”
Rovi is sitting next to Grace, holding each other’s hands, Grace glanced at him and smiled. He looked at her but the way she glanced made him feel a bit weird. He chuckled. “Don’t look at me that way.” he joked on but she didn’t stopped. “Well, even if you look at me that way every day, I promise that even if it makes me nervous I’ll still love you and this love here in my heart for you will always exist, forever.”
