Chapter 60 A Narrow Escape

In the car, Selina was under the overturned car seat. She was completely covered in blood with countless injuries.
Lawrence felt sorry and subconsciously glanced at Manfred. Manfred’s eyes turned bloody red. He pursed his thin lips tightly, his expression extremely frightening.
“Manfred…”
“Don’t talk to me!” Manfred roared, grabbed a stick from the rescue team, and joined the rescue.
When Selina was rescued, her breathing was already very weak.
The rescuers wanted to carry her but were pushed away by Manfred.
Manfred didn’t allow anyone to touch her. This was the first time Lawrence had seen Manfred like this. Manfred was less sacred even when they went through fire and water abroad back then.
Selina was carried into the ambulance, and several nurses immediately came over to help stop the bleeding.
One of the nurses said, “Sir, please step aside. You are making our rescue harder.”
Only then did Manfred take a step back blankly and lean against the chair behind him.
He subconsciously took out a cigarette and wanted to light it, but gave it up when he saw Selina.
They arrived at the hospital soon, and Selina was sent to the emergency room.
When Lawrence arrived, he saw Manfred sitting on the bench outside the emergency room, completely dispirited.
This neat freak was now covered in blood, staring at the door of the emergency room without blinking.
Lawrence frowned. “Manfred, she’ll be fine. Don’t worry!”
Manfred kept silent for a while. Then, he suddenly laughed. “What a joke. Why would I worry? She’s just a woman, a damn woman who thinks about leaving me all day! Just this morning, I was still thinking about whether to chase her away, then something happened to her. Is this her battered-body trick?”
“Manfred…” Lawrence knew that he was upset, but he wasn’t good at comforting people.
Footsteps sounded from outside broke their silence. Marshall and Sharon rushed over after receiving the news.
When Marshall saw Manfred covered in blood, his face turned pale.
“Selina…”
Before he could finish speaking, Manfred suddenly looked at him coldly. “Who called you here? Are you qualified to be here?”
Hearing his words, Marshall darkened his face. But when he saw the blood all over Manfred, his eyes immediately widened.
“You killed her, didn’t you? Did you kill my daughter? You lunatic! I knew she won’t end well with you! Look at what happened!”
Sharon was a little scared and wanted to stop Marshall desperately, but Marshall broke down and couldn’t be stopped at all.
Manfred sneered. “Do you care about your daughter? If you do, you wouldn’t have stood by when she was bullied in the Keith family. Don’t pretend to be a good daddy now. Get out!”
Then, a few bodyguards immediately came over and controlled Marshall.
Sharon was so scared that she turned around and ran out, leaving Marshall behind.
Manfred was still very annoyed. He pulled his tie and felt that this feeling was about to devour him.
The lights of the operating room suddenly went out, and Lawrence hurriedly ran over.
“Doctor, how’s she?”
“The parts of the seat broke the back of her head and almost killed her. Fortunately, you sent her over in time…”
Lawrence heaved a sigh of relief and turned around to look at Manfred happily. “She’s fine…”
Manfred ignored him and rolled up his sleeves. “I’ll go wash my hands.”
It wasn’t until he entered the restroom that he relaxed. He took out a cigarette from his pocket and tried to light it, but failed to light the lighter many times. Only then did he realize that his hands were trembling.
With a bitter smile, he threw the cigarette and the lighter into the trash can. Then, he washed his hands in front of the mirror.
When he returned, Selina was already sent into the ward by Lawrence. She was still in a coma with pipes all over her.
Manfred walked over and stood by the bed, looking at her quietly.
Her face was very pale because she had lost too much blood. She looked even more pitiful like this.
Actually, they were very similar. He had no family since he was young, so he had to rely on himself for everything. As for her, her family existed in name only. No wonder she was always thinking about leaving him although she was with him. That was because she felt insecure like he did.
Lawrence’s phone rang. He took his phone and went out.
Not long after, he came back and said to Manfred, “There’s something strange about the car accident.”
Manfred darkened his eyes. “How?”
“The truck that hit her and the driver were both fine, but for some reason, the truck suddenly acted up.”
“Well, looks like someone is deliberately trying to make things difficult for me!”
Manfred’s expression suddenly turned sinister. Lawrence frowned. “The police will investigate this clearly.”
“Okay,” Manfred said.
Lawrence thought for a moment and said again, “Be careful.”
Manfred sneered. “I won’t die!”

Selina had a strange dream. In a dark room, a group of children was trapped inside.
One of the boys looked very painful. She stretched out her hand, but the boy took a bite on her arm.
It hurt!
Selina suddenly opened her eyes. Everything in her dream disappeared, replaced by the snow-white roof in front of her and the sound of the humidifier next to her.
She was stunned for a few seconds before she remembered what happened before she fainted.
A huge truck came towards her and knocked her car over. At that time, she was on her way to see Manfred. She thought she would definitely die.
“Ms. Jones, are you awake?” Ashley said in pleasant surprise. Then, she quickly ran out. “Sir, Ms. Jones is awake.”
Immediately after, a tall figure walked in and looked at her with complex feelings in his eyes.
He looked tired.
“Manfred…” Selina reached out to touch his face, but soon, her hand paused in mid-air. “Don’t be angry, okay?”
Her pale face was filled with grievance. Manfred’s anger all disappeared in an instant.
He chuckled and held her hand.
“As long as you want.”
“Then you’re not angry, right?” Selina curved her lips, but with a slight movement, her head started to feel painful again.
“What happened to my head?”
“Don’t move!” Ashley said immediately. “The doctor said that your head was injured by the parts under the seat. It almost hurt your brain. You must have a good rest!”
Selina felt fear after the accident.
“Fortunately, you’re lucky!” Ashley said. “I’ll go back to cook some soup. You need more nutrition.”
Ashley kept on talking and finally left.
Selina finally had time to think it over and suddenly wondered, “How many days did my coma last for?”
“Six days!” Manfred said.
“What? Oh no, I didn’t even go to the company to ask for leave…”
Even at this time, she was still thinking about the company. Manfred felt helpless and reminded her, “Don’t move again!”
Selina was still worried. “But my project…”
The next second, Manfred suddenly lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.
