Chapter 59 A Bone-Chilling Fear

Manfred paused. “Why did you suddenly ask such a question?”
However, her words to Chester in the afternoon echoed in his mind. She said children should grow up in love.
“It just occurred to me. If you….”
“I don’t want that!”
As if afraid that she would say something that he couldn’t accept, Manfred spoke so quickly that he almost blurted it out.
“Who do you think you are? We’re just dealing, aren’t we? It’s not a good thing for you to have children!”
Selina’s heart lurched somehow. “Sorry, I was overthinking.”
Even though she knew that it was their ending. But now she was still sad somehow to hear him say that.
Even though she knew that she shouldn’t have expected all of this, she still had a little expectation.
The woman’s appearance irritated Manfred. He waved away the remote control on the table and strode out.
….
At the same time, at the Gordon’s.
When Jayden returned to his room, he was in a fidgety mood. When the servant came to pack his things, he also scolded him.
Evelyn walked over when she saw this. “What’s wrong? Didn’t you go to Chester’s happily just now? Why are you so angry? Did Chester scold you?”
“Don’t mention that old fellow to me. We have done so much for the Gordon family over the years. When Howard died, I accompanied Chester every day and comforted him. But what was the result? In the blink of an eye, he found Manfred and snatched away all my rights. Now, knowing that Manfred was in poor health, he actually wanted that woman to give birth to a child for Manfred!”
Evelyn was shocked. “Didn’t Chester hate that woman?”
“So what? They just want a child, not that woman! Don’t you understand? As long as they get the descendant, we will be like used toilet paper and be thrown away!”
Evelyn finally understood, and her expression gradually turned gloomy.
“Chester is really selfish. Then what should we do?”
“What should we do?” Jayden sneered. “Of course, we can’t let that woman give birth to a child! Otherwise, how would we have a foothold?”
“But … Didn’t you say that Manfred had been keeping a close eye on that woman recently?”
“So what? He is just a man, so he will let down his guards from time to time.” Jayden paused for a moment before continuing. “Have you seen Bonnie recently?”
Evelyn paused. “Yes, I did. She’s still in a bad mood. She sleeps all day.”
“This damn girl really likes Manfred! Back then, we adopted her because we thought that she would have some future prospects and marry a suitable family to pave the way for Carl. Now, it seems that it’s useless.”
Evelyn understood and immediately nodded. “I will visit her recently.”
….
The next morning, when Selina woke up, Manfred was not in the room.
He was not beside her, or perhaps he did not sleep there at night.
He hadn’t returned overnight….
Selina lay there in a trance for a moment before she got up to wash up.
When she went downstairs, she saw Ashley who said to her, “Mr. Gordon went out in the middle of the night. What would you like for breakfast?”
Selina shook her head, feeling that something was wrong.
It was sunny. She took a book and leaned on the balcony to read for a while, but didn’t take in a single word. Cola ran over and lay on her leg, staring blankly at her with its black bean-like eyes.
“Cola, what’s wrong with him? He lost his temper, but he’s still angry?”
Cola licked her hand, causing Selina to pull a wry face.
Her phone rang. She got up and picked it up.
That was Lawrence. “Selina, are you free now?”
“What’s the matter?”
“Come here and take Manfred back. He was drunk at the party last night.” At this point, Lawrence glanced at Manfred, who was leaning against the wall smoking a cigarette. He thought to himself. “Manfred, this is all I can do for you.”
The woman’s anxious voice came from over there, saying that she would be arriving soon. Lawrence hung up the phone with satisfaction.
Carrying coffee, Lawrence looked at the ashtray full of cigarette butts on the table and couldn’t help but complain.
“Are you trying to spread nuclear weapons and poison me to death?”
Manfred rolled his eyes at him. “Who did you call just now?”
His words sent shivers down Lawrence’s spine. He had his back to him just now. Did he seem to have eyes on his back?
“Just something about business.”
This reason was rather clumsy. He wouldn’t have been able to conceal it. Unexpectedly, Manfred had just skipped it today.
Lawrence couldn’t help but sigh. “Boss, you’re really damned. Based on your current situation, I deduce that you’re in love.”
“Shut up!” Manfred just gave the gag order.
Lawrence refused, took a sip of coffee, and said. “As the saying goes, whoever started the trouble should end it. You should talk to Selina directly. It’s useless to hide here. I will only disdain you even more.”
Manfred said coldly. “Disdain? Do you dare to try it?”
Lawrence hurriedly changed the topic. “I have something to do. I’m going to take a look.”
With that, he ran away in a flash.
Unexpectedly, three seconds later, he ran back. “Boss, we’re in trouble. Something happened to Selina!”
Hearing this, Manfred coldly glanced at him. “Don’t speak nonsense about her.”
“I’m serious! Something really happened to Selina. I just got a call….”
Before he could finish speaking, Manfred had already pushed Lawrence away and quickly walked out.
When they arrived, the police had already sealed off the place. The ambulance had already arrived, and the scene was in chaos.
Lawrence showed his card and walked over with Manfred.
“What’s going on?”
“The two cars collided. The car has been turned over. The driver is still inside….”
Before he could finish speaking, Manfred had already rushed over quickly.
Blood slowly flowed out of the crack on the top of the car, spreading into a red rose.
Lawrence was also shocked when he saw this scene. “It’s my fault. If I didn’t call Selina, she wouldn’t….”
Manfred ignored him and quickly rushed towards the car. The rescuers who were still flushing the car loudly stopped him. “Sir, you can’t go over. The car will explode!”
However, Manfred ignored him. Seeing this, Lawrence hurriedly went over and tried to stop him, but was pushed away by Manfred.
Then, he picked up a brick on the ground and forcefully broke the glass.
When the others saw this, they also surrounded him and blew open the passenger seat door.
As the door opened, the blood stuck in the car began to gurgle out.
The reality was far more serious than they had imagined. Manfred’s heart sank. This was the first time he had felt a bone-chilling fear.
